I think if I had the time for it, my limit would eventually be 5 or even 6 (this is providing I either work from home, have a flexible schedule, and also have help/am not living alone).

On my own, I think my limit would be 2, but maybe 3 or 4 if I had a yard/the time.

Since I think I'll usually have a pit bull, it would also depend on my ability to crate and rotate. I don't really have a dream breed set up, I want a number of rescues.

My limit would be two.

I mean, I'd much rather just have one lol but that isn't really a "pack". I just like having single dogs

As for ideal, I'd say medium ish.. 45 pounds I'd say. Big enough to not bend down to pet, small enough to not be huge and take up all the space in my apartment lol

Hmm.... I think Art, A border Collie, and a foster would be the perfect situation for me! I definitey want to get into fostering when I can. I think my limit is 3, possibly 4 for a short period (few months) if it was a foster.

Well, currently we have 5 dogs. Granted, only three are "mine-mine", but 5 in the household.

They really do ALL keep me busy, but I would be able to handle and enjoy more dogs. I don't think I have a limit really, haha. As long as I could care for them, and meet their needs, I feel whatever the amount would be fine for myself. Though, not like I would go out and get 100 dogs. :p

2 or 3 would be our max I would guess. 3 if one is an older dog, and then of course I'd have to adopt another old dog to be it's buddy, so maybe 4. Or something :p

Oh I would definitely have a few cats as well if I had the room for a seperate "cat room" so there would be no litter box raiding :p

Just 1. I'm a one dog household. I like being able to travel easily, I like being able to take her with me to peoples' houses, I like being able to spend all my time and energy on one dog.

And it will always be a shelter mutt :)

Come to think of it, 3 and a foster would be nice. I've always wanted to foster, and loved fostering the little chihuahua a while back.

It also depends on the SD thing. I will have to have a pup in training when the current SD gets to be close to retirement age, unless I can find a decent program to start getting dogs from.

I also have toyed with the idea of breeding collies at some point. If that were to even actually happen, I'd like to own the bitch. I don't want a big kennel, just maybe one bitch and find outside studs. Of course then you get into the puppy thing and wanting/needing to keep a pup...

For me it would be 5 or more. 3 German Shepherds(one all black and 2 whites) a rescue mix breed, and then a desired purebred. There are several other breeds I would like to have in my family at some point in my life. That last one will always change up. Some of the breeds that last one will be are a Great Dane, Italian Grey Hound, and an Akita. There are many others but those are a few of my top favorites.

Depending on the dogs, 2-3 is ideal. 3 is pretty much my limit.

As for composition, well, variety is the spice of life :) And the right dogs seem to have a way of finding me at the right times :)

This pretty much sums it up for me. Sure, there are breeds I daydream about, but... I never really know until I get there.

Two would be my limit I think. I would really, really like to add a second in now, as I can't imagine my life without agility in it, and I am starting to cut back the number of classes I do a day with Meg already. A friend is currently taunting me with a litter of rescue Border/staffs she is fostering, the male of which is pretty much exactly what I want. I may be out on the street if I bring him home however.

I like lots of one-on-one time, I like the ease of travel with one (most motels have a one dog limit; even two dogs makes it harder), I like having some leg room in the bed ;).

I've been saying 2 is our limit for nearly 20 years now. I'm still trying to figure out how we always end up with four....

I want to know what its like to have one dog. Seriously. I want to know what its like to take a dog somewhere and not worry or feel guilty about the one who's not getting to go. I want to know what its like to call the vet and not have to have them scroll through the animals to get to the one you're talking about. I just want to know what one dog feels like LOL.

I don't think I'm at a point where I can really say. I live at home and I'm heading off to university right now. I don't even pay for all of Sam's stuff right now, he's a family dog. I take care of him and right now one dog is all that I can handle, lol.

In the future more than one dog might be a possibility, but i don't know what my ideal pack is.

I think my ideal group of dogs is 2 large dogs. When my family is gone and I have 5 dogs to walk and feed and play with and check for fleas, all on my own, it gets pretty chaotic. When they take their chihuahuas with them I can manage three dogs comfortably, but I feel like I can give two a good amount of attention and stimulation without sacrificing all of my free time. When I just have my two I feel like everything is SO much easier, but it could all be relative.

I would want dogs fairly well matched in energy, size and strength so they could wear each other out without one dog abusing the other. I'll probably end up with shelter mutts in the future.

Honestly, I think 2 is my personal limit... both of them in the medium-large size.

I think I'll always have a Lab and my next dog is going to be a Vizsla. I plan on Harleigh and my V living a long time, so hopefully now knew puppies for me in a while :p ;)

Ideally I think I would have two or three dogs, but what breed/size/type I have no idea. I love herding dogs though, especially BCs and GSDs, so I think I'll end up with at least one of those one day. And of course I love my mutts, I think I'll always have one of those around.

after i complete the military retirement & get the ADC work rolling, i expect to build up to 1-2 dozen working and whatever retirees come out of that. in a lottery winning situation i'd probably build up to about 3-5 dozen workers and hire high school kids to help w/ the care & running.
