Am I the only one that does this?

I think my dog limit will end up at 4 dogs.

I know I'll always have at least 2 papillons in the mixup somehow. I definitely need at least 2.

My other two I think will be larger dogs. I'm not 100% on them or if they'll change in the future or if I'll end up hooked on a breed. Right now I know the next will be a BC. I think dog #4 will either be a second BC or a pyr shep. Possibly a sheltie.

I know, I overthink all this. :p Please tell me someone else thinks about this too. (I've been sick all weekend and in bed and am bored out of my mind. So is Mia. Poor dear.)

Well, I don't think my thought process is as organized as yours.

I will say that a month or so back I was rearranging the Livingroom and Traveler was laying on the couch having a ball while I moved it around with him on it and all I could think of is how nice it would be to have a few more of them helping me move furniture around. Or to run each other ragged at the dog park

So my perfect pack is just a group of Koolies honestly.

And Traveler would like me to add that in his perfect pack he needs a small little dog to love, cherish and pee on.

ETA: Forgot to say how many. I think three-four is my ideal. Up and coming puppy, one-two actively competing and a retiree.

my ideal pack is about 4 dogs. I want to always have one herding dog (preferably a border collie), one hunting dog for my husband since he hunts and also a sighthound or two

My perfect size of pack would depend on the dogs. Right now 3 is plenty. More than enough. Way too much talent/potential in this house right now. Some day when I have retired dogs, I might be ready for more than three in terms of time/resources.

As for composition, well, variety is the spice of life :) And the right dogs seem to have a way of finding me at the right times :)

I think my maximum is 3 or 4 dogs. I know I could handle more, but I don'y know that I'd want to. I'm caring for 8 dogs and 2 cats at the moment, and I much prefer a smaller number.

I will probably always have a collie and a boxer. They're both breeds that I fit with very well. Others breeds I will probably have (rotating or a mix unless one of them really meshes well with me) include paps, cresteds, Koolies, pointers, shiba inus, great danes, greyhounds/other sight hounds, and possibly BCs, among others. No idea yet what will come next, though.

I like Linds idea of an up and coming, two competing and a retiree... To be honest though, I don't think I would want to live with 4 dogs at once. Not that I wouldn't love them, but that's just too many for me.

I think my ideal pack (right now, it changes) would be a BC and a pap, with the odd foster once and a while :)

3 is my personal (permanent) limit ;)

Ideally... Maddie, Missy, Bailey :p LOL

But, in all seriousness... what a perfect combination! Cocker, Sheltie, GSD... :D
In the future, when I move out again, I would love to have a bigger dog of my own, even if its just slightly bigger. I'd LOVE to take Missy with me. :(

But, I'm not 100% set on what that will be... But I'm content with where I'm at, for now ;)

My sanity limit is six adult dogs. I think more than that and I'd be neglecting someone in my home (including myself). I prefer boys but I suspect I'll always have about a 50/50 split.

I think my ideal would be a Koolie, an English Sheherd, and a mutt from a shelter.

By the way, I do know how to sell sheherd, but I can't use that letter right not.

I could do five dogs. We were at four, and it was awesome because there's always someone for someone to play with. :p

It'll be Ozzy and Enzo for a while, plus a GSD soonish, and maybe in a yearish, once my GSD is finished training a lurcher, Dane, Dobe or another GSD. Steven waffles everyday between what breed he wants when we get our own place, he wants a male Dobe, but with Ozzy and a male GSD, any dog he brings in will have to be a female. Enzo isn't aggressive at all, so we could have any number of females :p

I really want a lurcher like this one at work. He's a Greyhound/GSD cross and he is amazing. I love him and want one just like him, but aside from a shelter, I have no idea where to look for a lurcher like him. I wish I could find one to raise as an SD. :p

My intention at this point is two Border Collies and some sort of smaller dog (probably a flyball mix of some sort, but I'm very open to breed at this point). And no cats.

This road leads me to two pit bulls and two Border Collies for awhile, barring something awful happening to one of my bullies sooner. I'm not extremely excited about managing that many dogs at once, especially given Mushroom's issues, but I REALLYREALLY WANT another flyball dog, and I don't want to wait.

:rofl1:

I spent a year with my old computer not being able to use a period so I had it constantly copied so I could paste it when need be.

I was so happy it wasn't an actual letter but even just not being able to type a simple . was sooo annoying

I could do five, I think but I'd prefer four because I like even numbers :p . I'd like a Kelpie or a Koolie, a Lurcher, a JRT and Fudge :p Since Fudge is going to live forever that won't be a problem.

Edit:

I can't decide yet.

I like to think my ideal is two and I wouldn't really want more than that, but that's just with my current lifestyle.

If I owned my own house, had a nice fenced in yard, had the time, etc, I'd probably like to have 4. Two small, two big. I kind of like to have matching breeds, too. So maybe have two small terriers and have two GSD's or something. That'd be a cool dream :) I don't know, out of "larger-ish" breeds, I'm fairly certain my choices would be narrowed down to a GSD or BC at this point. But that could always change.

I like a lot of bigger breeds like BC's, and even larger like GSD's, but I am not sure if I'd get a large breed as a second dog to go along with Jackson. He likes big dogs but he just doesn't play with them the same. So I'd probably like to have two of each so each has a buddy, you know?

Gavroche made this request too.

I also want a sphynx cat. To go along with the chinese crested ;)

No pets other than dogs for me, I think. Nothing that needs a cage that I have to clean.
Amen to that. I had guinea pigs growing up, cute little things, but a pain in the butt. I hated cleaning the cage, I hated the smell, I hated keeping our GSD from eating them, lol. Had a few hamsters along the way too. My dads girlfriend also moved in with her cat which also sucked because we had to keep GSD and cat separated.

My dad has two cats at his house now and it's a pain living with two dogs (three when I'm there) and cats. Every time we hear a 'meow' or the cats land on the floor, the dogs go running. I am not really a cat person anyways, but I'll never live with cats and dogs together again. I've had bad experiences, LOL!

2 or 3 dogs would be my ideal. Sometimes I think that just having Quinn would be sooo nice, but that's more because Dally's an idiot, LOL. It would be nice to have a couple dogs that are easy and well mannered like Quinn.

So Quinn's my #1, and the next puppy I get (in 2-3 years) will be another English Shepherd. I think. The next one after that will probably be a Border Collie if everything goes right.

It's a difficult question! I've been wanting another GSD for years now but the high likelihood of SSA might not be something I want to deal with right now. I'd also love a LH Chihuahua in the future. In the near future though I can easily see myself with my second English Shepherd and, depending on if I want to add another after that, a BC.

That's how I feel now as well. I've done the guinea pig, mice, rats, hamsters, bird thing and it's not for me. And if I had a cat I'd like it to be 100% indoors but I hate cleaning litter boxes. I can only see myself with dogs in the future.

So ideally, I'd like 2 or 3 dogs but would be content with one. I'd like to have my Jackie Loo, a pug or small rescue mutt and a yellow field lab.
