.... I think once I get my Mastiff from a breeder after I will rescue and older Pitbull. Where I live there are not breed restrictions so I would want to do my part and rescue a pit, maybe even from a place where pits are banned.

I hope not for a long time. I don't plan until getting another dog until Yoshi dies.

I really like golden retrievers, german shepherds, dalmations, and irish wolfhounds.

But most likely I'll end up with a young *3-4 months old* dog/puppy that is on death row and is 100% mutt. I have a soft spot for those crazy looking mixes :)

next dog.. oh my.. seriously, it may be within the next year or two but it may not be for another 10 years.

as for breed. I am having my German shepherd. But there are alot of other breeds i do want. So who knwos.. i guess it will depend on where i am in life at the time. I love german shepherds, they`ve been my passion since ive been a kid. But I have fallen in love with labs, a breed i originally hated and NEVER wanted to own. Yet casey, her foolishness and everything about her and her breed, i just love. Goldens, tollers, and justin really wants a mastiff of some sort... its a VERY hard decision, because IF we choose to bring a another dog into our lives anytime soon, ìt WILL be the last one.. for a very long time.

Is it bad that I got sad when I realized I will more than likely be in my 30's by the time I'm ready for another puppy?

LOL I think no one is ever 'ready' for a puppy LOL. Doesn't seem to matter how many puppies we raise, we seem to forget how hard those few months are LOL...

I have no plans on getting another dog, just enjoying the ones I have now. It's so unfair that just when you start understanding your dog's thought, behavior (as the distinctive bark they do, or knowing exactly when you need that cuddle) they are well on there way to senior age. I know I shouldn't be worrying about it and just enjoy their presence, but I can't help it. :(

Sorry, sappy moment done.

As soon as this fall/winter. If that doesn't work out, then I'll wait 'til it's warm again. :)

If it was up to me, I'd be getting another dog ASAP.

Unfortunately (well, not really, but still) I'm a fairly responsible person and will not do so until I'm financially stable and not worrying about school housing and such. I already don't know what I'm going to do with Rowan when I go to school - only options are either have family/friends watch him or get an off-campus apartment I probably can't afford. :( But I'm willing to do whatever I have to do to make it work.

That's why I can't keep Amber, though. I can't in good conscious bring another dog on board my ship of uncertainty.

Not until after uni which will be at least another 7-8 years. I would like to get a puppy while Fudge is still around though so he can whip it into shape lol. There's not a chance of me getting another dog while I still live here because the next dog will be dads Ridgeback and after it's grown up I want to have moved out lol. Whether that works or not we'll still have to see.

I find it extremely ironic that less than 24 hours after I posted this we were considering adopting a greyhound :lol-sign: . Someone who's friends with my mum on fb posted asking if anyone wanted a greyhound whos owner was in hospital, the dog was found lying in its own filth and was lucky to get fed everyday :( :( There were no takers and the dog was going to be taken to the local pound today if no one wanted it. Unfortunately it had been taken before Mum asked about it and she says she would only take it if it was an emergency and it isn't now. :( That poor dog is going to haunt my thoughts.

A week ago I would have said in 3-5 years. But with Harry's premature death, we are hoping for next spring. We have finally agreed on breed: Smooth Collie.

Well first I have to convince hubby that we need a third dog. Judging by past conversations, it won't be too hard, I don't think ;)

I plan on the next dog being a young puppy, so I need to have the time to raise a puppy. So it will have to be after I quit my job, which won't happen till we have a baby.

So yeah, it will be a few years before we get our next dog...

While I'm a tad bit disappointed this did not say "English Shepherd" ( :p ), I'm super excited to see Smooth Collie puppy pictures! I hope that this future pup eases even a tiny bit of the heartbreak that comes with losing a loved animal so suddenly and prematurely.

I'm so thrilled for the choice and agreement!

I just felt a bit sick and saddened when I saw your signature change. :( Hang in there.
