And what do you plan on getting?

I will probably get my "first" dog (as in MINE, not the family's like Maggie and Reecie are) next year. I was planning on getting one this year, but circumstances didn't allow it.

As for what, I've been considering adopting a dog from the Great Dane rescue that just formed not too far away from here. A lovely organization, and rare for a purebred rescue group in that there are extremely flexible ;) I've already talked to them and they said they'd have no problem letting me (an apartment dweller/student) adopt one of their dogs.

This guy (Dane/Weim) has been there for a while, and if he's still there, he's mine :D

What about you?

I really have no idea..

I'm starting college in two/three years, and so the responsible thing is to wait till I'm out, which makes me want to cry. Maybe if I find a pet friendly college/dorm/apartment I'll be either able to take Suzie with me or to adopt a small dog.

My parents love Suzie too, so while I love her to death, she's not technically 'mine' so it wouldn't be my decision :(

Probably won't be getting another dog until I move out. And then I will most likely be getting a pit bull, from where I'm not sure yet. Even though I won't be moving out for about two years, I started looking at apartments for rent just for fun the other day, most had noted on the websites or ads no pit bull breeds, rottweilers, GSDs or breeds alike...I even called a few out of curiousity, all of which said no pit bulls.

Well I'm off to university next year so not anytime soon. I want to take Sam with me when I can however I have no clue when that will possible. He might be too comfortable here by the time I'm ready. I dread having to leave him for school though, I'll probably be here every weekend just to visit him, hehe.

In a couple of years. I have a particular want that i will share when the time comes.

It'll allow me to save up some money and get myself moved out with Izzie then i can get a puppy!

Realistically? Our (currently non-existent even in utero) kids will probably be toddlers/pre school aged before we get another dog. So Sierra will be an only dog for a while.

I'm not going to rule anything out, but that's the probable situation.

honestly... probably not until I'm back in VA and in a house that will allow for another dog. Our next dog is Josh's dog so not sure what we'll get. I know he's been looking into a few hunting breeds.

As for myself, my next dog will be an Ibizan and as far as when... well... might not be for a few years. I was going to wait until Bamm is gone, but honestly as long as we get a female and while it's a puppy he'd be fine. But... I want to go with the right breeder for me, preferably one that is willing to mentor me since this is a dog I'm going to want to show. Right now I'm just doing mega research into the breed and talking to breeders, researching dog showing, lure coursing, etc. The other big part is going to be convincing Josh to let me... in all honesty... as long as we're in a house where we can have an additional dog in the mix and as long as I save up for the puppy on my own, i.e photo jobs, pet sitting gigs, etc... then he'll more than likely go for it.

Probably a year and a half to two years. Tyler graduates in less then a year and as soon as were able to buy a place the next thing will be the dog. Its going to be a mastiff. Right now it's between a cane corso or a boerboel mastiff.

I don't want more than 2 dogs, so not until we lose one of ours. So hopefully not for a long time. As for what, I'd like to get a cairn terrier, a westie, or a scruffy terrier type mutt (think Laurelin's Ada).

Hopefully next year after graduation. As soon as I have my diploma in hand I am going to start looking - although in all likelihood the new puppy won't come until I have a stable income and a place of my own, so it could be not until the winter or later. Drat being responsible!

It will likely either be a Labrador or a Spanish Mastiff, but there is a breeder in OH that breeds both Labs and Chessies and if I decide to go the not-Spanish-Mastiff route I want to meet his Chessies before deciding on a Lab. And, of course, I want to meet some Spanish Mastiffs before deciding for or against them.

But if Kiba hasn't found a home by the time I graduate (or by the end of summer...that is the time line I'm giving him, because if we've had him for six months I'm hoping my parents will just let me keep him another six and get over it until I have my own place - my mom did tell me the other day that he is "a good dog" so I know he's growing on her...) the new addition may have been two months ago. :lol-sign:

The original plan was to move to a place in August after graduation and take Jackie Loo back from my parent's house then. But plans have changed and it'll be at least until January. That is, if I find a job and a place to live!

Apart from getting to finally live with Jackie Loo, I have no desire for other dogs at the moment. Maybe in a year or two we'll be in a position to add another dog. It'll most likely be a shelter rescue of some sort.

If I live long enough to even find myself dogless, I would take a senior. Someone on the smallish side so if they needed assistance I could manage. I realistically don't see that happening unless a real cure comes along.
