Realistically? Not for another five or so years, I'm graduating high school in three and Sam will be coming with me. I'm not allowed another dog until I move out, and I want to at least be somewhat financially stable.

Though you never know, could be tomorrow for all I know.

Not sure on the timing currently. We may wait until our old lady moves on to her eternal rewards as one new puppy is already taxing her. We are talking about rescuing a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Three dogs is my limit and the current crew is only 6 years, 3 years, and 6 months old respectively. So hopefully not for many, many years.

As to what... who knows? Whatever finds me at the time, I suppose.

Not sure. It will be atleast another 18 months away for a few reasons.
I want Quinn to be pretty mature and to be competing in agility before I get my third dog to train, it will probably be another BC from a breeder.
I also need to have moved out of home an be supporting myself before my next dog, 2 dogs is going to be hard enough to rent with, let alone three so that will determine a lot of when I get another dog.

well, the plan had been that when sprint has puppies, one will be mine. in theory, this would be late next spring or early next summer. now the timing of that breeding is probably up in the air because this last litter didn't take (different dog, but she's older and the breeder really really wants a pup out of her before she is spayed), and i have this whole mushroom problem.

so who knows.

when it happens, it happens.

Uhhh. Whenever the right situation/dog comes along. Maybe as early as another year, most likely another 2-3 years, could take even longer (6+) before I add a permanent dog. Things change so quickly, who knows.

I really can't say. I definitely don't want another puppy anytime soon. When Violet's a bit older, it'd be nice to get another adult big dog that she can chase around the backyard, and be friends with. She can't do that with Chloe, and she loves other dogs.

If I move out before then, I want to get a puppy pretty soon after I get my own place. Probably within 6 months-a year of moving out. The only reason I'd wait that long is because I'd like to get a cat (and possibly some ferrets) before I bring a puppy into the house, so that it can be raised around them. I haven't decided on a breed yet. (Reading up on a couple different breeds). And I'm also torn between a rescue mutt or a dog from a breeder.

Either way, it won't be any time soon unless something unforseen happens.

We want to get another Aussie (hopefully red Merle, definitely female). We look every week but are probably going to wait for Aero's breeder to have another litter. His Dam just had pups a few weeks ago and we really wanted to get Aero a half sister - but we are not sure if we should do it now or wait till Aero is over a year (which it will be in July). But after that it's just going to be our two Aussies untill one passes.

I'm not sure. Maybe now? Maybe not? If I don't keep Ada, I think it'll be a year or two. If I do keep Ada, not for a long time most likely. It's a rough decision because I had a very specific want but now I'm confronted with a dog I'd never in a million years have picked out but I love her and she thinks she belongs to me... But keeping her means no dream of two papillons and some sort of herder. And no more 2nd sports dog. And I don't really know where I'd compromise.

If the perfect home came up tomorrow, I think I'd let her go. But the perfect home hasn't shown up yet and the longer she stays the more I want it to be for good....

at least a year, but probably 2. planning on a foxhound (prefer goodman or july but open to any kind that comes from good coyote catching parents) or cur (prefer blackmouth w/ alot of yellowjacket in the line, but again open to anything from good hunting lines). however do to the vagaries of friendships & my profession, a stag, a cold blood grey, a ridgeback, dogo argentino or a bully kutta are all HIGHLY possible.

I'm gonna guess another 1-2 years. I'm pretty sure I've decided I want to be moved out and in my place before deciding on another dog. I want to be sure with all newly added costs that I'll be able to afford a second dog. I could pretty easily right now but I'm still living at home and saving a lot of money. So yeah... I guess whenever I decide to move out will be the best timing. I have days where I really really want a second dog and other days where I am SUPER content with Jackson and I.

With that said... if the right dog just "showed up on my doorstep" so to speak, I'm sure I couldn't turn it down. I definitely have a few breeds in mind but am also not opposed at all to rescue.

That is kind of where I am at. Should I get settled into my own place first... blah blah blah.
It sucks though because the only breeder relatively close by that I like, is having a litter this summer... so IDEALLY I would get one of those puppies, I just don't know if I'm REALLY ready for it. But she only has a litter every 2 or 3 years, and I don't want to wait that long, either.

Then I have days where I just say screw it, I want to just adopt an already well behaved adult.

Years, sadly. I need to be in a more stable position, and I want my guys to be quite at bit older before I bring in a puppy. Marsh and Gatsby are 3 and 3.5, so I'll have two seniors on my hands and it's very likely I'll loose them close together. :( So I think I'd like to get a puppy around that time. Today, I'm lusting after a Toller or Lundehund to found a breeding program on. Tomorrow it's likely to be something different.

And I haven't done any real work with rescue so I feel like that's something I need to do if I plan on bringing more dogs into the world, sort of a cosmic balance thing. Whether is adopting or fostering or some other volunteer work, it's definitely on my list.

Ada and Summer can't do sports?
Well, Summer hasn't been enjoying agility much lately. Not sure why. I think it may be arthritis. She'll play but some days she seems to just not be into it. Ada might be okay but she's not super high drive or anything. I've toyed with the idea some. I'm really lusting after a dog that would essentially be a Mia in a bigger package. Something balls to the wall crazy and capable of trying anything. Neither Summer nor Ada would be that dog.

Ugh yes same. I go through the puppy vs. adult thing too. I loved raising Jackson from the time he was a puppy... but not sure I wanna do it again.

Not for a long time I hope. My dogs are all young at 2, 3 and 4 years old and as long as all three are around, I will not be seeking out another permanent dog. Two or three is a good number for me, and while I can do four, I don't really want to at this point in my life. Even when the Dobes pass, anywhere between 4 and 7 years from now probably (hopefully longer!), I might just stick with just Dance for a little while. Reason being is I want to further my education and it would just not be realistic to add a puppy to my life between now and the next 8 years or so. Who knows, that could change, but right now I'm more than content with the three I have. :)
