Im not on a diet, or trying to lose weight. I'm actually trying to gain a bit of muscle mass because I don't want to be a scrawny any more lol. So I have started working out at my local cross fit gym....Holy crap do they work you. I would suggest giving it a try for anyone who is really serious about trying to be more healthy. So far I've only gained about 2.5 lbs, so I really don't have much to show. This is only my third week though, so I will try to report back in a few months.

I know a couple of girls doing crossfit. I hear it is one heck of a workout. I looked into it as I could use the extra muscle mass (I don't care too too much about the scale, but I am working to loose fat..). All the extra muscle I can build helps me lift patients. Sadly the local crossfit place is way out of my league for expense.

I have not updated because I am ashamed...

I have had the world fall apart around me, a Ton of personal, financial and work things have gone wrong this past few weeks and I turned to food fur comfort big time as my ticker shows...

I am hoping to get ahold of myself and quit this self destructive path ASAP

Ridgeback.. that is soo cool! Keep us updated. There is no cross fit around here. Though I am aiming to lose fat first. Seems to be a fair amount of data showing that vigorous exercise slows down weight loss. Seems the best is brisk walking sort of thing. Though I def want to do more and be more buff :)

LauraLeigh ((hugs)) life happens. IME the best thing to do is to 'forgive' yourself for turning to comfort food and move on. If not then you need comfort for feeling guilty... and then you eat more comfort food.. and then you feel guilty...

Just started tracking. Since the 19th of this month, as of this morning, -7.5 lbs. I've given myself a totally unrealistic deadline for how I intend to look, lol. I need to step it up to 10 lbs. a week, but the tape measure will take precedence over the scales.

Sadly, I am one of those "don't try this at home, kids" kamikaze dieters, picked up from the bodybuilding years

Oh, and BEST AB WORK EVER . . . belly dancing classes!

One of my best friend's mom from back in the day taught belly dancing. Not only is it a great work out but its fantastic and teaching people how to isolate the pelvis and hips from what the rest of the body is doing. An essential skill when riding a horse :) (we were apprenticing together in riding.. hence the riding connection)

My daughter (age 19, lives at home, in college) takes belly dancing! I can atest to the 'good workout' part! She gets in from BD class a sweaty, stinky, mess! She doesn't have the strength to talk to anyone until after her shower, LOL She *thought* she was in good shape (she's one of those 'skinny witches' LOL) until she started taking BD.........she claims she hurt in places she didn't know existed all these years! LMAO!

So if you have a chance to check it out, do it!

I went clothes shopping today. Everything I grabbed on my first go was WAYYYYY too big :D One pair of jogging pants I got is an XL and is technically too big, but they didn't have anything smaller.

I really hate clothing sizes though. What's large in one style is 2X in another - WTF? And then there are clothes where one size is WAYYYYYYY too big and the next size down is WAYYYYYYY too small :wall:

I did end up with 2 pairs of dress pants, a pair of jogging pants, and two dressy jacket/sweater things for $30 :D

I was cleaning out my car today and found the jacket I got for Christmas. It was too small, I couldn't even zip it when I got it. Today when I put it on it actually fit PERFECTLY! That was actually one of my big motivators, so it's nice to have met one of my goals :D

I've also been really terrible this past week, and still lost a pound. I'm on my third shark week (more like 1 1/2-2 weeks at a time) in a month and a half and it's REALLY annoying  I think it's my body actually trying to start to cycle on its own, though, so maybe it's ultimately a good thing?

I guess I should join this thread officially (been spying on it for weeks, LOL)

Last year I successfully gave up smoking (after 20 years!) Even though letting cigarettes go was a success, I replaced them with food and packed on quite a bit to my already chubby self :(

This year I made a resolve to let go of the weight. To stop using food as a drug, friend, and/or entertainment, and start using it as sustenance. Basically the old "Eat to live, not live to eat"

I am using Weight Watchers Points Plus. Not attending meetings, just using the books and calculator. So far, so good. I am 18% of the way to my goal :)

Down 22.4 pounds now. And there was a cheat meal of chinese, a cookie bought for me that was rude to turn down.. and last night I went out for coffee brought along my own tea... but had to have the raspberry cheesecake.. yet I lost a pound and a half overnight.

6 lbs. in 7 days.

*disclaimer* don't try this at home, lol.

Seriously, I think the belly dancing helps a lot too, although I forget to eat and my calorie count goes WAY below 1000 at least 3 days a week, the carbs well below 20.

Keep up the good work everybody!!!

I'm a few pounds down but have had so many excuses and so many 'I'll start eating better/going to the gym on Monday' things. I have officially joined a gym and have signed up for a 10K in May and a half marathon in July. No more putting it off!

I'm back. have been slack and lazy for the last couple of months. With a bit of added stress and finding a couple of new friends I get along with has led to a couple of extra kg's of rum fat.
So from Monday I've been watching what I eat and getting myself back to jogging (which Quinn needs as much as I do)
I've got myfitnesspal on my phone to force me to log food as soon as I eat it. Makes it much easier to watch what your eating when you have to be accountable for it.

And one of my best mates has offered to do some PT sessions with us a couple of times a week. I always swore I wouldn't let him train me but I'm much fitter now than I was a year ago so its not as daunting now.

And I have a 2 week cruise to go on in 6 weeks with 10 other people - mostly gym junkies so I have that as motivation.

For anyone looking for fitness motivation - found this blog last night and its pretty good.

I hate this. Last night I went to dinner in a L size singlet that is almost too small and an XS cardigan which is almost too big. Ridiculous.
