Brattina - you look AWESOME! Congrats :)

I've been stuck for a LONG time, not sure why. However, I weighed today and had lost 1 pound - woot! I'm just glad the scale finally moved again.

I've lost 20.2 pounds so far! You can really tell I've lost weight by looking at my face, compared to earlier pictures anyways :) Still got a ways to go though! (I'm the one with the hair up, lol)

Brattina holy CRAP!!!! You look incredible!!!!! I wish I had just an ounce of your motivation.

The last time I weighed myself I was around 197lbs. I'm pretty sure I'm over 200 now which would be a first for me. I'm afraid to stand on a scale and find out though.

I NEED to do something about my weight. It's not even a want anymore as it is a need. I lack so much in the willpower department and its such a struggle every day. I look in the mirror and realize how much I've gained and it depresses me. That in turn stresses me out and makes me that much more liable to pack on MORE pounds and it becomes a vicious cycle.

At 5'2" I'd love to be around the 140 range, but getting to that point seems like such a long stretch. On top of that I'm anemic which brings my energy level down even more.

But... It's gotten to the point where small amounts of expelling energy really takes a lot out of me. Took Cricket hiking and about died. Walking up the stairs to my apartment I'm always completely winded by the time I get to my apartment. I'm so tired of being this way.

Going to read this thread from start to finish in hopes of gaining some ideas on how I can start losing some of this weight and hopefully gain some motivation from it.

You can do it Amber!!! Just find a good eating/exercising plan that works for you and stick to it... then alter it if you need to. It really helped me to do a juice cleanse, honestly. It made me LOVE eating real food, like vegetables and fruits, rather than juice. It was like a treat to start eating solid food! Running around with your dogs is the best motivation for exercising, too.

Erica - that is very interesting, to be honest I've never really thought about it that way. I am O+ as well, and I am anemic (take iron pills) and just this year was told Hypoglycemia. That has been a hard adjustment for me, eating more often. I could go all day without eating no problem, but I get headaches and confused and nauseous  I was told I don't handle sugars very well, either. The fast test didn't come back "right"
Definitely something for me to look into! Thanks for posting
How weird! We have so much in common. Obviously what you're doing is totally working for you. :)

Ditching gluten from my diet has taught me that I don't process it well either, but I suspect that's more due to the highly adulterated state of wheat crops and how overly processed most foods that contain wheat are than it is to a problem with real, unadulterated wheat.

So yes, I DO think your genetic makeup, whether it's DNA or ancestry (and the two are likely related) has a lot to do with what kind of diet is best for you.
I agree with you about processed foods! They aren't good for anyone, but some people can digest it fine, and it wrecks havoc with others. I'm so into feeding my dogs a species appropriate diet, but I get totally confused about doing the same for myself. Some people just do better with different diets. Idk if blood type has anything to do with it but it's really fascinating and it seems to be working for me. I had serious carb withdrawals at first, but now I feel a lot better and am healthier in every way since I started eating high protein/iron/veggies.

I'm from Viking heritage too (Swedish)... that must be why we need the same diet!

And gonz, I didn't realize you were preggers, congrats!
Thanks loveee. :)

I was at a JRT trial and someone who hasn't seen me since last year came up and commented on my weight loss. It was awesome!

The interesting thing I am finding is that I am getting buff (well what you can see under the fat still lol) I never noticed the last time I lost lots of weight I loss muscle. But now I have like body builder arms, ok well not that much, but serious muscle :D I haven't lost much weight number wise but I have gone down just over a full size whilst staying at the same numbers. Shirts that were too tight to wear over the belly are now just fine.

So note to all, don't get too hung up on the number the scale says as long as you are making progress. Oh and say away from Asian bakeries.. sooo good, but sooo carby!

:wall:

5 months, only 36 pounds.

Granted, I'm smaller in the right places than I was at 20 pounds lighter, but STILL, I should be farther along than this, especially when I look and see that it took me then entire month of June to dump 2 freaking pounds.

I'm wondering if there's a seasonal factor in it. Now that there's a flood of tomatoes and squash and green beans from the garden, and since I was stuck anyway, I switched it up a little and started adding more vegetables and some fruit, raw and grilled, and the scale and my size are moving better again.

Crazy, at first, but then it makes sense if you think about how we're supposed to live in the world.

Anyway, I just finished grilled flounder with Moroccan seasoning and sea salt, grilled green tomatoes and grilled pineapple.

So excited for everyone!

I've been doing the HGC "jet diet" and I lost 7 inches round my bust, 5 round my waist, and 3 or 4 round my hips the first round, and so far have lost 5 inches this time (around my bust-I don't remember the other areas, I have to measure again). I'm almost done with this round, and then I have 5 weeks off til my next round. I'm excited with my progress but not enough to post pictures yet lol!!!

One of the things that's really interesting to me the way this thread illustrates how differently metabolisms work. Something that works for one person doesn't work at all for someone else.

Good for you, Lauren!
