I also agree that the United States government needs to keep their noses out of other countries business and pay more attention and spend more money on people in our country who need help, like our elderly who can't afford their medication and our schools that in many states are not providing proper education to our children who are the future of this country.
Thank you :D :D I agree :D

There are some folks in here that Im really starting to like! You all know my opinion so there is no need to parrot myself on this thread. I'm sure there will be other threads that I can parrot myself on. Rock on lovers of independence and the French who helped us get it.

I personally think that sometimes we need to mind our own business and take care of our own country and its needs :)

OK, as a warmongering Evil Conservative I ask you all this....

Does the Nation of Iran having a tactical nuclear weapon sound like a good idea?

"The Iranian Shahab-6 is expected to have a range of 5,470-5,500 and 5,632-6,200 kilometers with a 1,000-750-500 kilogram warhead"

http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/iran/missile/shahab-6.htm

That's over 4 times the range of their current Shahab-3. They would then be able to drop a nuke into say.......Paris?

Ya know, one of my favorite magazines, The American Conservative, has been running articles on this for many months now. I believe some of them are available in their on-line archives. Worth checking out, imo :)
http://www.amconmag.com/2006/2006_04_10/cover.html

There is some interesting political background to this whole debacle that our administration, if it is at all prudent (which I do not credit them for unfortunately) will take into account before taking military action against Iran.

With our problems in the region, I am reminded of a quote from one of my all time favorite movies, The Princess Bride, "Never get involved in a land war in Asia."

To be fair, this advice was supposedly given by Eisenhower to JFK and/or by Field Marshall Montgomery to the House of Lords.... too bad no one was listening, eh?

I'm not an isolationist believing that we should only be concerned with problems at home, because all too often such a stance leads to an uglier monkey on our back later. But I do believe that the imperialism evidenced by the behavior of the USA over the past half century is immoral to say nothing of being problematic.

edited to add link to one of the magazine articles I mentioned.

I dont :D really I dont

LOL ok I guess I will get into it.

Nope it doesnt, blue. However if I was an Iranian I would be concerned with a large country coming in to take our one thing that keeps us immune from foriegn invasion.

I think on such a small scale, but the greatest way to get me to shoot you is to come to my house and try to disarm me. I am a live and let live sorta guy, just dont mess with me or my family, mind your business and you will hardly even know I exist unless you need help, then ill be right there. I think most people are the same way. I might make a good neighbor but I would make a horrible leader of a country, if the neighbors were wanting to disarm me.

I would bet that the Chinese are wondering if its a good idea that we have nukes. A tactic as old as mankind is to not let your opponent know you are an opponent until they have expended their resources.

I cant think of many cases where countries who mind their own business get into big problems with war. All of the nations who stuck their noses into the beginging of the first world war set the stage for two world wars.

That's great...and I tend to agree with you.....but Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is not a "live and let live sorta guy" All you have to do is listen to a couple of the speeches he has given recently to know that. If he hadn't made comments about destroying the west and destroying Israel then I don't think I would be so worried about them having nuclear technology.....but he has made comments like that.....and comments that he believes that human intervention can bring about the apocalypse.....I don't know about you but that frightens me.
