For those that complain that guns are used to murder x number of people per year, would you feel better if these folks had been pushed out a window?

Nah, they'd feel better if people used vicious attack killer dogs. Then they'd have something else to ban.

Robert and my dad are winners though, for mother's day they took me and my mom to the range. It was awesome! I got to blow stuff up with a setme! :D

People arent scared of windows, because we all want them. We arent afraid of knives because we all want them. We arent afraid of hammers because we all want them. Most people fear what they have no knowledge of. People only want to destroy the freedoms of the other guy, never their own.

Many folks in this very forum have on one hand thought guns should be outlawed and on the other hand cry out against BSL. We are in the same boat and if your neighbor isnt free, you arent either.

Marijuana is legal in Canada...maybe that's why you seem to have lower crime rates? ;)
Marijuana is not legal in Canada! Where are you getting your information? Maybe you're thinking Amsterdam, Netherlands, but that is in Europe not it North America. You should read more on Canadian laws and history.

Why would you need a gun if nobody is allowed to own one? Unless you are talking about illegal guns and guns that are smuggled.
Think of it this way. If they banned all pit bull breeding and made it illegal, the ones who breed them to fight would STILL do it. Making things illegal is only going to stop the honest people.

And I love how this thread went from a funny sign- to banning guns- to guard dogs- to TIGERS- and back to guns. I love Chaz.

They banned pit bull breeding in Ontario, and most of the ones that were breeding for fighting were arrested. There are probably still a few out there that do it, but much less than before that's for sure.

betcha that didnt solve anything. What happens when they ban boxers? YOU are doing nothing wrong with yours. same thing with guns. Why ban ALL guns when there are plenty of people owning them responsibly. Maybe make it a bit more of a process to GET a gun, but ban them? What does that solve?

I can guarantee you the criminals that owns guns would not decrease to the same extent that the pit bulls did.

Pit bull breeders would PROBABLY have a bit more integrity than a CRIMINAL with a gun.

That's one ChazCycle complete. The purpose of any thread is to see how many times you can de-rail it and still get back to the beginning, then tabulate your points when the thread is 'dead'.

Why would they ban boxers? Boxers are not used for fighting and were not bred for fighting other dogs. They were bred as service dogs, guide dogs for the blind, therapy dogs, police dogs in K9 units, and occasionally herding cattle or sheep. If they try to ban them, they better watch out! :D

Although I don't support gun bans, I will point out that it is a heck of a lot easier to kill someone with a gun in most other ways . . . because the other person doesn't have much of a chance to fight back (unless they also have a gun). On the other hand, guns ARE the great equalizer. I'm no match for a full grown man . . . unless I am holding a gun. Most women, short of black belts, wouldn't be. I guess the question there, again, aside from the liberty issue, is whether we are more distressed about the increased number of deaths, or about the inability of physically weaker people to defend themselves from physically stronger people. Or, put another way . . . do we accept an increased number of gun deaths in exchange for granting people the fundamental right of self defense.

Well, the same can be said of Filas, and there are places in Canada where they are banned.

There are plenty of people out there who are ignorant enough to see a Boxer and think Pit Bull. Labs get mistaken for Pit Bulls all the time and they look NOTHING like a Pit Bull.

If your own ass is all you care about covering, when it's your turn to lose what you love no one is going to care.

But . . . you don't have to be holding a gun to die from one.

Personally, I'd rather even up the odds against the people who think it's okay to use their guns to take away my stuff. Or anything else of mine.

When the physically weaker can defend themselves it makes life a little more dangerous for the bad guys. And that's a good thing.

Yes, some people do not know a Pit Bull from a donkey. I do not know much about Filas, why were they banned?

unless Harper has changed it since I left (which is possible) in Ontario you ARE allowed 5 grams or less as long as it is in one bag and you have less than $200 on your person. Basically as long as it is for personal consumption and is a small amount it IS basically legal. I remember the day they decided that... front page of the london free press was a guy standing outside of the police station smoking a big fat joint because he was now allowed to do so :)

So you can't buy it, grow it or sell it lol but it is legal to smoke it (kind of funny how that works lol)

Who cares why!? You should care THAT it is happening.

There were plenty of breeds that originated for one purpose and now are pets. Are you using your boxers for service dogs, guide dogs for the blind, therapy dogs, police dogs in K9 units? I know a pitbull that is a therapy dog. That specific dog was not bred for fighting, why should he be banned? What if your boxer was DA and DID want to fight?

Like I said though. Banning a breed of a dog is one thing. The pitbull BYBers MAY stop if it were to become illegal instead of just frowned upon. But I can bet you the ones breeding for dog fighting wouldnt stop. They are already doing something illegal, whats one more thing?

Same thing with guns. If they ban guns they are ONLY taking them away from the people who SHOULD be allowed to have them.

The people USING their guns to BREAK INTO homes and hold up people, and kill people- theyre already breaking into homes and holding up people and killing them, why the hell would they care if holding the weapon they were using was illegal?! They are already commiting a crime.

No matter how small the amount is, it is still illegal. For a smaller amount, you will probably get a smaller penalty without going to jail or a full trial. For trafficking/distributing and possessing larger amounts (not sure how much), you will serve time.

Could it be that its not just highly enforced?

Canadas got bigger things to worry about than weed when all the criminals have guns and nobody can defend themselves.

Most of the guns that come into Canada illegally originate from the U.S. Not saying that it is the fault of the U.S., but just saying where the illegal guns come from.

Right. And if they ban guns here all ours will come from mexico... or somewhere else.

You just proved my point.

The guns that ARE in Canada, are there with the criminals. Banning something doesnt mean its going away completely.
