I saw a sign like that at the Million ignorant mothers march. I asked one of them if they would mind a sign like that and she said "of course I would mind, that would be stupid."

Why would you need a gun if nobody is allowed to own one? Unless you are talking about illegal guns and guns that are smuggled.

Are you serious? You believe NO one should own a gun? The day they pass that law, is the day only the criminals own firearms!! I hardly think it is the average law abiding citizen who would break into your home armed.

ETA, it's late and I skimmed and missed the part about illegal guns, yes you need to protect yourself against that, but what about, as a cliched example, a woman home alone when a rapist breaks in, he may be unarmed but should she not be able to protect herself against him?

Sorry to jack the thread... LOL

You live in Ontario so you cannot own a gun unless you're a hunter and have registered it. Do you have a gun because that's illegal? You do not need a gun to protect yourself, there are things like pepper spray. If you are so afraid, then you can have dogs that are trained professionally to be guardian dogs and keep them in your house. They are much safer and loving than a gun.

LMAO I knew it was only a matter of time before someone came in protesting guns :)

Get an attack dog? LOL I am WAY less legally liable if I shoot an intruder than if I let my dog bite them... then I'm in trouble and the dog has to die. good idea

In Canada you cannot shoot anyone nor can you beat them even if they are an intruder. :lol-sign: You can only hold them until the police comes. I know, sounds funny but it is the truth. At least the dogs would be able to get the intruder down quickly and keep him/her down.

I will officially state that I fully support the rights of my neighbors to come to my defense!

As for why would you need a gun is no one is allowed to have one . . . I frankly haven't seen that not being allowed to have one stops much of anyone. The idiots, sure. Banning certain types of guns, yes, that works to some extent. Banning them all . . . well, there are lots of places on earth where guns are illegal . . . and oddly they still have gun crime. Sure, I support restrictions on guns . . . but banning them? In this country? Leaving aside the rights issue, there is no way all those guns are going to disappear . . . so its better for the law abiding citizens to have them.

Heck, going through some stuff at my grandmother's house my cousin and I discovered several guns . . . ranging from WWI on . . no one remembered they were there. One of them probably still worked, and another probably would have if you cleaned it up . . . there are guns everywhere in this country, and they aren't going to vanish because someone thinks life would be better without them.

And that is why Canada sucks (no offense to any Canadians who love their home country).

Seriously though....when a CRIMINAL who intends to KILL ME and so has no regard for gun laws, because they have no regard for laws against killing people, comes in my house to kill me then you think pepper spray is going to stop them?

:rofl1:

Oh wait, I need to get a big bad attack dog, because it's waaay better if I let someone shoot my poor dog while I climb out the bathroom window.

I can see the point of a protection dog, but I would NEVER get a dog with the expectation that it should take a bullet for me. I take care of me and my own, and that includes my dogs. They aren't going to be left out to fend off armed robbers, I'd be taking the dude out with a Nagant or something.

That sign is way cool, but in all seriousness I wouldn't put it up. The really bad criminals can target places where they know they can steal guns. A friend of my dad's used to own a gun shop and he was murdered at the counter. They stole everything in the shop. And my cousin owns a gun shop which was robbed of a bunch of AR-15s and ammo. The guns were all recovered, but the ammo wasn't for a couple of weeks until Strider tracked it down in an open field near my parents house. That was the most random, surreal thing ever, as Strider is a sighthound, not trained to track, and the gun shop was 30 miles away from where he found the ammo hidden..and the fact that my cousin owned the place..what are the odds? *insert spooky music*

Canada does not suck. There is less violence here than in the U.S. even though guns are not allowed. I'm not saying that guns are always the problem, but let's say that a regular citizen (not a criminal) who owns a gun in the U.S. was drunk and got mad at someone and had a gun, what would stop them from using that gun since they cannot think rationally? Also many kids die because their parents do not hide their guns properly. Pretty sad. :(

My great uncle used to always tell me..
"saying a gun hurt someone is like saying a pencil made a mistake"
and in my opinion, its the truth. its not the weapon, its the person behind it.

Would I ever own a gun? most likely not. But my dad has one in case of intruders and I dont mind.

Now if my dad got his hands on say.. some grenades. then id be concerned! lol

Forget guns, lets all get frikin tigers and let them loose in our homes and then we can build a moat around it and fill it with sharks with laser beams on their heads!
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

You're right. Canada does not suck because you can buy Kindereggs there. And Kindereggs rock.

There are far fewer people in Canada than America for one thing.

And what about Australia, where murder and rape more than doubled after they outright banned guns?

Banning stuff never works. Banning drugs didn't work, prohibition didn't work, and neither does banning firearms.
