    Itchy dog - please help!

Hello, I am hoping someone has some ideas and advice about an itchy dog. My dog Dumpster began scratching and biting at herself about a month ago. My husband took her to the vet three weeks ago, who diagnosed her with a yeast infection. The vet didn't find any mites or fleas, but since...

    pop tart ice cream sandwiches?

From Seeking Sweetness in Everyday Life - CakeSpy. Just out of curiosity, what do you all think of this idea? I'm not a fan of pop tarts, so it doesn't sound appealing to me. If you scroll down she also puts cookie dough in cinnamon rolls and makes eggs benedict with a Cadbury cream egg. I...

    So upset

I am just so upset right now. I was walking my dogs and an off leash dog (a pit bull, maybe about 9 months old) starts walking up to us. I saw his owner, a big middle-aged man, well behind him. I yelled out "you need to call him back to you, my dogs aren't friendly." The man doesn't do...

    Click to Calm update

I posted awhile ago about Click to Calm for my 2nd dog, Dumpster, who had developed dog reactivity/aggression issues. I just wrote a whole long update but my laptop died on me and I lost the post, so I'll try to summarize it quickly. It is going pretty well so far! I taught her 'touch' and...

    digital video camera?

Hello, I'm getting my sister a digital video camera for her wedding present tomorrow, and I'm trying to decide between the Flip Ultra Camcorder and Flip Mino Camcorder. I was wondering if anyone happened to have either of these and had good/bad experiences? Unfortunately I can't afford the...

Click to Calm a good choice?

Hello everyone, I've seen the book Click to Calm mentioned a lot on this forum, as well as Control Unleashed. My second dog, Dumpster, has developed a problem of leash reactivity/aggression (barking and pulling) towards other dogs, as well as some dominant behaviors (standing over other dogs...

Any other fans out there? I have all the episodes on DVD and am watching them now for the umpteenth time. I wish the show hadn't been canceled so early!

Eek, I am regretting teaching my dog 'turn'

I taught my dog 'turn right' a few weeks ago, and it is now her default trick. As soon as I have take out the treats, there she is turning and turning LOL. I guess b/c it's easy for her. I don't mind and she'll still obey other commands when they are given, but has anyone else seen this?

    Kibble you like?

Hello, My sister has an 8.5 month poodle-golden retriever mix. He has been on Purina One Large Breed puppy since they got him, but they are switching him to an adult food since he was just neutered, and would like to switch to a higher quality food while they are at it. I referred her to...

    food dispensing toys besides Tug-a-Jug?

Hello, I got my dog a Tug-a-Jug to eat a portion of her kibble out of, and she loves it. (Well, she would probably prefer if I just gave her a heaping bowl of food, but it keeps her occupied, LOL.) I would like to get her a couple of other challenging food dispensing toys to mix things up...

    Introducing my dog(s)

I've posted for a bunch of advice, but never posted pictures of my girl(s). Nanook is the yellow dog pictured below. I adopted her from the pound a year from last March. I found Dumpter, the brown and white dog, at the end of February, and am currently looking for a home for her. She is...

    fence climbing - help please!

I would really appreciate any help I can get with this! My dog has become an obsessive fence climber. There is a dog run in my apartment complex where she used to love playing with her friends, but beginning a few days ago I haven't been able to let her offleash there since she'll scale the...

Ideas for a puppy gift basket?

My sister and her boyfriend are getting a puppy in April. I'm going to see them this weekend, and I'd like to put together an (inexpensive!) gift basket. Any ideas for things to put in it? So far, I am going to try and get a fleece gingerbread man toy (our dog growing up had them and loved...

    Finding owners vibes needed!

I found a dog browsing through the garbage this morning while walking past the dumpster at my apartment complex to do my laundry. She has a collar but no tags, so I'm taking her to the vet's office when it opens to get her scanned for a microchip. She's brown and white, maybe about 45 pounds...

My dog just started in agility a few weeks ago. She doesn't have much tug drive, and I would like build it both for agility and our regular obedience training. I was lurking a few weeks back and remember reading about a tug toy that you place a treat in, but can't find the post now. If anyone...

    a quick brag

We are still working on the jumping (thanks again for all the advice), but I need to brag about my dog Nanook's heeling. It is really important for me that she heels with a loose leash, particularly because I have been having back problems lately and I'm worried that it will become worse if she...

    dog & people run :)

My girl and I ran a 2 mile race this morning - it was so much fun! Does anyone else like to do these? I was really impressed with how well all the dogs behaved. The only bad moment was when my dog decided to jump up onto the registration table while I was filling out our card:yikes:. My dog...

    cart pulling?

I am looking for some activities for my dog to burn off some of her energy since she has become too rough for the dog park. One idea I had was cart pulling. I think she is mainly a lab/husky mix, ~1.5 years old (a guess), and 52 pounds last time she was weighed, most of which is muscle rather...

    Sunday night insomnia

I don't post a whole lot but I lurk some for advice. I keep meaning to make a Photobucket account to upload pictures of my girl - she is doing really well now. On a different topic, does anyone else get insomnia on Sunday nights b/c you have to face the upcoming work week?
