My girl and I ran a 2 mile race this morning - it was so much fun! Does anyone else like to do these? I was really impressed with how well all the dogs behaved. The only bad moment was when my dog decided to jump up onto the registration table while I was filling out our card:yikes:. My dog is a mixed breed but judging from her eyes, she has some husky in her, and during a race it really comes out. She's normally very interactive with other dogs (too much so sometimes), but during the race, she was totally focused on running. We did it in 13 min 40 something seconds (I was definitely the weak link), so I'm thinking it might be fun to set a goal for us to run 2 miles in less than 13 minutes, instead of just going out for lazy jogs.

LOVE races. I've done 2 marathons... I'd LOVE to do more. I'd love to go to a race where I could take Doom. He's SUCH a good running buddy.
I like to set goals to beat the next time, too. We're signed up for a 5 k in December back home in AZ since I will be home for Christmas any way. :)

You might check near you and see if there are dog runs or jogs. Also, if your dog is okay in crowds some "people" races allow dogs - especially smaller races. We ran a small 5k last weekend that allowed Nanook, my dog, to run with me. She loves it. The only thing I would caution against is to make sure Doom doesn't get too excited at the start and take off like a rocket - I have to work with Nanook on pacing. That's really neat that you've done two marathons. I ran one several years ago, but I don't think my knees could take it anymore.

Running is in my family... My sister has done 36 marathons (at last count) she does about one a month. I think she's NUTS.LoL
She's getting ready to do a triathalon on thanksgiving day. O.O

36!! That is amazing. I've heard that people like that tend to have incredible cardiovascular health. That's funny that you say Illinois is too cold for you. I am from the north and miss the cold weather so much - I could pull on my leggings and go. Now I live in the southeast, which makes running hard with a dog since they get overheated more easily.

My favorite time to run is in the evening, and in AZ that's the best time... I don't have time any other time now, and there's all these flippin great trails out here!!!!
Its been colder here than usual, down in the low 50's by sundown, which is when I prefer to run. It sucks. I did some running when we first moved here, but I'm just too big a wuss. lol
