Middie had this issue too - set up a neuter appt NOW so it will be as soon as possible. Once he gets neutered, the desire to mark will wane and housebreaking will be easy. He sounds a lot better than Middie was, though.
he has a vet appt. set up for this Fri. Then we will talk neuter schedule...first have to be sure he is indeed, healthy (please send good thoughts there--no heartworm!). Vaccinations, etc. will happen and then we will try to figure out timing for a neuter.

My fear is if he decides to mark, then Baxter may also (which he does not do!!)

HAHAHAHA OMG if looks could kill you would have dropped dead right then and there.

Bax you are very lucky that we didn't have to take a leg of the transport or you wouldn't be receiving Wilson... I would be stealing him.

That face is just too much for me.

Well, last night, he didn't want to stop howling. If it was just us, we would just deal with it and let him bark it out until he went to sleep. However, we live within feet of our neighbors, and our landlord's parents live on one side, so we have to try to keep things quiet. We let him out of his crate, so he would have the whole basement, but that didn't work. He just wanted to be with us, but since he can't sleep in our bed because he'll pee, we couldn't let him up here. But, he won't pee in the car, even if you're parked and he can walk all over. So Alex slept in the car with him :D

Here's a little video from just now. It's from Photobooth on Mac, so you can't see what's going on in the camera unless you're in front of it so the quality is terrible and it's hard to aim. It's also noisy--I guess, that's computer noise that you can only hear when you record a video. Some of the noise is also Annabelle chewing on a bone.

Don't mind the dog food all over the floor--Wilson doesn't like to eat out of food bowls, so we put his food on a paper plate and he likes to pour it all over before eating it. Also, that's not rawhide he is eating at the end of the video--it's a cow's ears.

Oh, also, I may have seen a tapeworm segment today, but that's something you're going to get checked out at the vet anyway.

I wouldn't worry about that. When Ozzy was marking in the house, we had my sisters Huskys staying with us, and the male was five, unneutered at the time and he never lifted his leg in the house...

He could have been bitten by another dog. My neighbors dog has a patch missing off her nose where she got snapped at for nosing in the other dogs bowl. While she was eating. :p

oh--you and Alex are so good to be dealing with this--I truly appreciate it. I hope to be able to let him sleep in my room (both the other dogs do)--will have to get a handle on the marking issue.
Do you think you can measure him around his "waist"--I want to pick up a couple belly bands--or make some to prevent the issue right away.
The video is cute--he's a playful guy, huh?
And I thought he looked like he has a bone tattoo also!

Kind of a male diaper--just goes around the torso covering the penis--catches any wetting he may try to do!

I'm not sure if I measured in the exact correct spot, but I got 21 inches.

He is playful, but he calms right down when you want him to. He doesn't seem to know any obedience commands (other than coming to his name, which is a good one to know), but I can tell he will be very easy to train.

He peed once on the kitty condo today because I didn't notice fast enough, but he has seemed to calm down quite a bit now that he's used to the way the house smells. He doesn't run around marking the entire yard anymore either. I may let him sleep in our bed for a while tonight.

This is all such good information Pam! I look forward to working with him, believe it or not! Baxter has gotten much better about "door darting", that I am hopeful that Wilson and he can be worked together for some more obedience training.

Will PM you to talk drop off details! :)

yep--tomorrow, and I am quite excited. How was his/your night last night Pam? Any better? Or did poor Alex sleep in the car again?

He slept in the car, but I doubt he actually had to. We didn't try to crate him, but Alex just waited until I fell asleep and then went out to the car. He said he'd rather do that than wake up later and have to go out anyway and that "sleeping in the car is kind of fun" Haha. I think he would have been fine for quite a few hours just sleeping on the floor next to the bed.
