Hey K9... this is completely off topic.. but I've been meaning to ask why you have a link to that religious thread for your signature? I was just curious, I've never seen anyone do that before.. I'm sure I've probably missed something that happened.

Hmmm... I thought it was a link, but I guess it's not. Now my curiosity is driving me crazy....lol. I guess i was just being nosey. You can tell me it's none of my business..lol :D

It depends, it rather a er love/hate thing! I mean, I lived in the USA for what, 9 years?! So I have to say, its a beautiful country that is so versitale (SP?) in its landscape, that it really is beautiful.
BUT on a political view, I had it. I mean, lets face it... bush, he's an idiot. And the war thats been going on in the middle east... shesh.
OK so first let me say this, Germany is by no means perfect in politics, ok its much much less than perfect. I don't like our chancellor at all... <- she likes Bush. a little off topic: Did anyone hear about HOW MUCH money cities spent when Bush came? He really thought someone was going to kill him here! The closed all the streets! They had people leave their homes, and closed manholes so that they guy would be safe?! Some people we unable to get to work... and lost a days pay. JUST because Bush came ooooh... how 'wonderful'
I do have to add that not many people like American politics here.
Hmm another thing that kind of bugs me is that Bush just doesn't get it. He doesn't get that the USA is one of the leading countries contributing to Global warming. A lot of Americans contribute to it just by driving their big huge cars...

Anywho.. I have more to say, but I won't 'cause I don't feel like being bashed

You know whats funny, that even the US has sterotypes in itself. So not only do we sterotype other countries, we sterotype ourselves. I cant tell you the amount of people from "up north" who come to the south and do the " where are all the cowboys at" or the " dont you own horses?"..... not saying us southerns dont do it as well, but it goes to show you how out of touch we really are with ourselves. So I can imagine what some people do think of our country.

On that note, I have to say, I love America. I am very lucky and honored to live in such a country where we are free to beleive, say, think, read, learn what we choose. And I have to also say this, I am def. not a president hater. Its easy to cast stones when you've never been in a position such as running a whole country, with a whole mess of problems. And no, not all our problems have happened in the last 7 years that Bush has been our president. We've always had something or another going on. We are a pretty drama filled country, if you will. There is always some uproar, teenagers getting angry at a friend so they decide to load up and shoot thier entire school, mass murders and just insane happenings. This is a VERY different america than it was 50 years ago, some for the better, and some for the worse. As we grow, we change. Its inevitable. It can't be easy trying to make everyone happy or atleast reach a common ground. But again, I do love where I live and I wouldn't live anywhere else, because I am happy here. Its never going to be perfect because we are all different. Maybe thats what I love about it, that we can argue and debate and have different opinions, and it all will be "ok".

Wow.... 5 am rants. *stumbles to bed*

I haven't read all the posts because I have a hangover, and I can't be bothered.

But, the US.

It is VERY labelled. Most people don't like Americans, it is true.

I actually have family in America, and try to judge people on meeting them. But if you want to know what people say:

the general stereotype is, obese, loud, obnoxious, greedy, stupid.

People don't like the fact that Americans think their country is "the best", they don't think the American flag is really that important.

People believe everything in America is supersized (the cars, the food, the TV's, the people) and all a bit plastic.

They HATE the government.... You don't find many Bush supporters here. Or anywhere so I believe.

I also think people think it's amusing that Americans say they live in the land of the free yet have SO many RIDICULOUS laws and religious fanatics... oh thats another one, people tend to think americans are a bit too religious :D

But like Lou said, every country gets labelled. I'm pretty sure I know what people think of the brits lol

Here, Eddie Izzard gets a few of the general ideas across in Dress to Kill ;)

A few quotes from the link lol

So if you travel around the world, and, you know, ‘cause your American foreign policy does give you a difficult time to exist around the world, two tricks: one, say you're Canadian, that helps. It works in Europe, it's very good! And the second is just say, "Shaggy and Scooby." And they go "Shaggy and Scooby!" International credit card, I think! So yeah.
But in America, you win the gold medal, I’ve seen you at the Olympics. You stand there, hand on the hearts… You and the Roman Empire are the only people who’ve ever done that, so be very careful! ‘Cause you’re the new Roman Empire, you realize that? There’s no one else going! ‘Cause the only other big power is China, I supposed, but they’re going, “Ah… oh…” kind of thing. 1.000 million, but they’re all just getting ready.

But you’re the Roman Empire, yeah! So you’ve got vomitoriums and orgies to look forward to… Let the President lead the way! ‘Cause no one cares in America and… I don’t know. In Europe, we’re just watching you, and going, “What are you doing?” ‘Cause in France they wouldn’t care, and in Britain, they’d get shot.

Wow... Look at all the comment here.

I said it before and I will say it again.... People are ALWAYS jealous of the champ. Someday, after we have destroyed our country and are no longer the USA, people will find another country to hate.

Don't worry Europe, given the current state of affairs, the USA will be gone before you know it. But, then who will you blame THEN for your woes?

In the mean time, I am going to go kill a Buffalo or two with my high powered assault rifle. Then, I am going to McDonalds where I will order 2 Number 3's, super sized of course.... Then eat just half of it and chuck the rest. Oh, that's right... I have to go to my KKK and Neo-Nazi meeting first.

;)

Bwhahahahahaha!! Thanks for the chuckle Puck.

While the U.S. has it's problems, I don't think there is a country that doesn't. We could disect ANY country and list the flaws.

I find the biggest flaw of this country is the bloated government, and welfare system.

I can get pretty fed up with alot of the way things are done here, but there is NO place that I would rather live than here in the USA.

Only if there's something in it for your government though eh? *cough*moneypoweroil*cough*

There are hundreds of people in this world who have no freedom, and are dying. But they don't get any help.

Sri Lanka, Sudan, South Africa, Myanmar to name but a few.

Well to be honest I'd like you to tell me just how wonderful you think this world would be with-out the US Military hard up in everyone's face.

Hummmmmm

If we minded our own business, the rest of the world would be in complete ruin. Look at all we (US Military) have done for this world.. take a good look ... http://www.historycentral.com/USEFOFORCE.html

Also the land of the Free would have been gone long already. Thank a Soldier it's not.

Besides, most of our U.S. bases were acquired in subsequent wars such as the Second World War, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and the war in Afghanistan. Our military bases in Okinawa, known earlier as part of Japan, are a legacy of the American occupation with Japan during the Second World War.

.. and if you don't already know America emerged from the Second World War with the most extensive system of military bases that the world had ever seen. I dunno about you, but this is pride for the families of the military and America as a whole, and we live today .... yall will never take that from us. NEVER!! Yall might be able to call Koehler's methods of dog training cruel in this day and age of freedom... but he was a remarkable trainer in his day and some still believe. Fact.

.... just remember who gave their lives in order for you to voice as you love to do so much for self worth, and cast judgement, and and and and and

..... it was no other than the American Soldier. Fact. It's something to be proud of ... so expect a judgement in return from the few and proud one day while you decide to cast stones while living in a glass home on the sand.

Ohhh but wait .... you'll choose silence.. :lol-sign:

Do you in all honesty believe that our world would not be this 'wonderful' without the US-military?! Open you eyes! The USA is SOOO far away from the war, that sure for them it may be wonderful! Do you think that the people in middle east have such a wonderful life? A friends sister was in Pakistan for about 3 months... she knows what it's like to live there in a 'nice area'... they only have a bombing about once a week.

I know the the second world war was long ago, but to me it doesn't matter what the US-military had... or didn't have. They left my country in ruins... sure they helped Germany in some ways... but not in all. The US-military bombed hospitols and churchs... something that is ushally taboo in wars.

I THINK I would be able to voice my judgement and my opinions even without the USA.

I think that the US is living a in a bubble with pink sunglasses on that make the world look just a little different, maybe a little less-so than 9/11, but they certianly do. Some people in the US just need to open their eyes as to what they are doing in world. Whats actually going on in the world. We want our soldiers to get the heck out of the middle east... because this is NOT our war. But the US is pround of all the women, men and children they have killed over the past what? 6 years. I'm sorry, but I can't agree with you that the rest of the world would be in complet ruin without you. Did you know that the US hardly helped re-build Germany after World War 2? Even though they bombed it, and many other countries?

Why do I choose silence? I live in a free country where I can do and leave what I please.
