This is for everybody who doesn't live in the United States....

It seems like everybody hates the United States nowadays. Whenever I look at magazines that ask people what they think of the United States, they always say that we are stuck up, etc.

So, what do you think of the United States and the people who live there? Please be honest...

Never been there so find it hard to make a comment based on actual knowledge/fact........ I think it is best to reserve judgement till one has had first hand experience.

I do find some aspects of American culture to be amusing, like the obsession with teeth whitening! What is that all about??

LoL! I never thought we had an obsession with teeth whitening. But now that I think about it every toothpaste commercial claims to whiten teeth and they have those whitestrip thingys.

I must admit, I have used the Crest Whitestrips and they do make a difference, but are annoying to wear...

I've only ever travelled to Florida on holiday so can't really judge a country based on holidaying in Florida over the years.

Everyone we met and talked to was very friendly and helpful and we had many discusions about the price of petrol and the health service. The main thing I noticed was that everything was so big, my dads car is dwarfed by the cars we see and drive in Florida lol.

In reality though, every country is labelled. I mean Wales is obvioulsy habited by a mass of sheep loving people and England is full of tea drinking snobs with butlers ;) :D.

It either has to be extremely large or extremely small.
Cars, houses, TV's- Large
Phones, Music players, Cameras- Small

This is a very strange thread.

How are people supposed to judge a country they have never been to?

Your asking all the people who live outside the US, to give their opinion on the country, of course your going to get the responses your getting concerning extravegant lifestyles and people's hatred of George Bush. I could make a bunch of generalizatons about other countries which I have never stepped foot in and their leaders... but they would be ignorant and uneducated responses.

As for the people who live here and the only thing you could think up is how much you hate George Bush, come on people. George Bush makes me want to throw up is not an educated response. How about giving your stance on a policy and how you and he disagree.

My opinion of the US: I am sick of people who have no knowledge of politics and government spewing out the same rhetoric they hear on tv with nothing of their own to back it up.

GRRR.. politics threads make me MAD.

The American mentallity is the bigger the better  Just look at the overweight population, super size anyone :D ? Look at the size of our dogs 120lb GSD's over 100lb pitbulls? That's not breed standard. And I can say this cuz I'm an American LOL!

Ok, not fair, I know, since I'm IN the U.S.... but here's my stance:

The U.S. is a POWERHOUSE... and HOW did we become this way? Because of being a "free" country and letting the "people" reign. That was all fine and good 200 years ago, but it's gotten completely out of hand. We now have deadbeats on wellfare that WILL NOT get a job because they'll make less than on wellfare! They keep having more and more babies to keep getting the gov't $$ coming in. Then you have the illegals, and don't get me started. Our tax dollars are supporting them every step of the way. They'll just live in apartments where they rent (sometimes 30 to a 1 bedroom apartment) and have menial, cash-paid jobs where they don't have to come on to the gov't radar. Then send all their cash back to Mexico (or Cuba, or wherever)! Then it's the almighty dollar and yuppees wanting their tax breaks. And the cheaters such as Enron. Professionals in the U.S. work 52 weeks per year with very little vacation time. Have many of you worked with the EU people? They're PAID NOT to work and have much more gov't holiday, bridge days, holiday time off than U.S. people have. However, it's coming under the microscope, and the Europeans don't like that! I don't blame them! How about we downsize our freakin' huge @$$ houses in the U.S. and don't drive the 5 mpg SUVs and live a little more simply? And the U.S. people ARE glutons -- I'm sorry to dis anybody here. But, HOW MANY BUFFETS are NECESSARY???? We're KNOWN for being glutons. H*ll, look at the obesity factor here and the percentage of CHILDREN are being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Because they grew up with McDonald's. And it's spreading. Here in the "Western World" where everything is GREAT... and GREAT BIG... doesn't always mean it's GOOD...
