Well, I just checked grades for my first Ethics assignment. I didn't feel great submitting it because his rubric wasn't easy to understand. Great way to start the semester with a 70%, right?

Eugh. I guess now I know what he's looking for in the future!
I can't stand online classes. My digital photography class is a hybrid, meaning it is both a lecture and an online class. My teacher told us we are going to meet only four more times this semester, the rest is online( this is a friday class). Already I find reading her instructions for assignments hard to understand.

Well, I got it sent, and I got a reply. What was in the reply? "Set up a meeting so we can discuss this." NO. I WILL NOT SET UP A MEETING. MY ACCOMMODATIONS SAY YOU ARE TO COMMUNICATE WITH ME IN WRITING IF YOU MUST COMMUNICATE OUTSIDE OF CLASS. FOLLOW THE ****ING RULES!
Did you reply that you need to do it in writing? What are they saying you are doing that is so bad? Hugs and I hope it gets sorted out.

Yes, I replied, but since it's the weekend I'm sure he hasn't read it yet. Or he may be ignoring me now.

I requested an extension for an assignment. This is one of my approved accommodations, along with extra time on tests, preferential seating, the use of a laptop to take notes, the use of a computer for tests with extensive writing, and having my service dog in class. A letter stating as much goes out to all my professors every single semester, and I had to turn in documentation of a disability and a need for the accommodations before my first semester, and I have to renew them each semester. NONE of my professors have had a problem with it, EVER, in my whole time at this university (this is my 5th and final semester). But this guy...holy ****. He's so ****ing thick and bigoted. This is the first time I've ever asked for an assignment extension, and all I wanted was one extra class period, and he exploded. He even ended up giving an extension to the WHOLE class, but he's STILL making a big ****ing deal out of it. I just don't understand it at all.

Fall semester for me started a month ago. This is my senior year for my associate's degree, after that I'm going to get a bachelor's and possibly apply to law school. I'm taking two classes on campus and two online. My on campus classes are both legal classes, Legal Bibliography and Business Law II. I'm taking Algebra and Religion online. So far the only frustrating class is Religion. I love online classes but the attitudes of some of my classmates during discussions is just really hard to deal with.

I'm surprised so many of you start so late! We started back up on the 26th and are just about to start week #3. As a first semester senior, it's been my last of many firsts as an undergraduate, but I'm excited to see where life takes me.

This semester is definitely going to be a bit of a killer. I'm in 20 credits with P.Chem and Biochem insisting on becoming the bane of my existence already. To those of you in intro Chem- I can try to help answer questions if I remember... it's been awhile, but I'm minoring in chemistry, so I ought to at least!

That said, I'm also taking Animal Behavior, Issues in Animal Science, Advanced Cognitive Psychology + lab, and Nutrition/Brain/Behavior which should all be pretty interesting.

I've decided not to apply to vet school this year, despite having taken all of the prerequisite courses - it just didn't feel quite right and it's a lot of money. Apparently it's not unusual for vets to be in debt until age 55 or 60... it really is like taking a second mortgage. And for something that I'm so wishy washy about, it would be too much of an investment at the moment. My adviser is now pushing me to go to grad school rather than take a year off to work. Anybody have personal experiences? Long story short, I don't know what I want to do with myself after graduation. Grad school is definitely a way to secure a more lucrative job upon receiving a master's and (maybe?) PhD, but I worry that it'll box me in, considering that I really have no inkling as to what I'd like my career path to be. I had an enjoyable summer job helping the incoming Freshmen figure out their schedules for this semester, so I do think I may enjoy some sort of teaching or interactive job. I also did an internship at a warmblood breeding and research center two summers ago and I now know for sure that I do not want to work on a farm.

That said, my GPA should be high enough and I have enough connections with faculty that I think I should be able to find an opportunity where I can get paid to go to grad school, so it wouldn't put me into debt. It's just a time investment and less money than I could be making if I was working. Thoughts?

Finally - what are you all's majors!? I see course schedules, but I want to know majors! I'm aiming for a dual degree in Animal & Poultry Sciences and Psychology with a minor in Chemistry :)

I'm working on finishing my BS in Zoo Science. I already have a BA in Psychology with a minor in Biology from a different university.

If I don't have a full time job in the spring, I'll be taking some Equine Management classes online from one of the local community colleges. Heck, they're 100% online and dirt cheap, so I may take them even if a DO have a full time job.

I feel SO far behind and like I'm never going to finish school at this rate. :( I'm 21 and returning to school after a 2 year hiatus... and still in general core classes. I'm hoping that once I get to my "real" school, I can cut hours way back at work and really bust ass on getting classes done.

I'm majoring in Natural Resource Management with a concentration in Ecosystem Sustainability, minor in Biology.

Ermahgerd I hate math. I have to take a math placement exam and so I'm spending the afternoon studying. I love studying, I hate math. Why can't everything just end with PEMDAS, that's so fun!

Don't let that deter you, though! As much as some people power through their education, there's nothing wrong with going at your own speed or the speed your forced into due to outside circumstances :)

I'm debating going back to school ..thanks to this thread. LOL!

I'm 24 and just going back. Megan is 26 and going back. So you're ahead of both of us!

I'll be 26 in under 2 months, and I'm still in undergrad thanks to getting a 2nd degree. So we can all join the "Old Students" club lol! It's so weird when most of my classmates are 18-20.

Glad to know I'm not alone! It just took me forever to figure out what I wanted to do... and how to make it work once I got it all figured out.

Yvonne- You should definitely go back and be a part of our "old students" club. I like the idea of going at my own pace.. it's just it will take 5-6 years (most likely) if I'm not going full time. I would be close-ish to 30 once I was done. :yikes:

Yah... 20s is definitely not old for post secondary. When I was going, I was one of probably 10 students under 30 in one program, probably 1 of 5 in the other. Second program was mostly aged 40+ students.

I have a couple really good paychecks coming (I hope!) So I'm seriously hoping to get a couple more classes knocked out of the way. I'm working on a bookkeeping program, then will go through the accounting program.

Honestly, I think you're better off that way. Looking back now, I HATE how everything in high school is HURRY! PICK A COLLEGE! DO NOT TAKE TIME OFF! GO NOW!!!! In reality, most high school students don't have any clue what they REALLY want to do with their lives. Forcing them to decide NOW is why changing majors is SO common, as is going back for another degree - and along with it, MORE debt. You're much better off figuring stuff out FIRST, then going to college. I really wish I would have taken 2-4 years off to work and learn what I do and don't like, THEN go to college to get a degree to advance me in my chosen field. It would have been much more effective and much cheaper in the end. I also feel it would reduce the number of kids who leave home and move back again after they graduate and realize they still don't know what to do.
