I don't like people names for dogs but that's currently all we have (Avril, Jessie, Adele, Carly, and Quinn.) If we ever have a singleton litter I want to name her/him Solo. I don't know how common it is, I haven't met a dog named that yet.

I like uncommon yet simple names. Names that most people can read on paper and pronounce. Avril's moms name was Anaconda (took us forever to name her!) I really liked her name for some reason.
I believe Karen Fuss had a dog named Solo... and he was a singleton. ;)

LOL! Being hypothetical is one thing, but I do honestly wonder how and why people come up with these names. Still love it, though :D
They must have a cool story, I think. Most think WTF when I say Shamoo but she came to us as Taboo and I hated it, I don't like it for any dog but especially a pit bull. She was obese and water obsessed so one day Denis called her Shamu, we blended it with Taboo and now with Shamoo. :)

Ha, I am so boring. I love human names for animals and I always tend to chose the most common names ever... Grace and Abby for example... just a tad boring.
I couldn't help but laugh because I know a pair of identical twins named Grace and Abby. :D

I can imagine myself being the person who never really understands what your saying and would continue asking for your dog's name. I'm slow, ok? :lol-sign:

Oh, probably. And even if they don't, I think the name would make me pause and wonder (really, really wonder lol) but I'd probably still end up thinking "hey, cool!".

I honestly just thought it was cute, but I didn't even make the SeaWorld/whale connection initially. I saw a black/white dog and the word "moo" in the name, and just figured it was two syllables put together into a name. Probably different when you hear the name before you see it, though (that, and I'm slow on the uptake ).

Sounds like the beginning of Abbott & Costello's famous baseball routine. Now you need a What and a I-Don't-Know, or maybe a Tomorrow. :D

My Mal's name is Wisdom which I didn't like at first (I didn't name her) but I love it now and it really fits her. She gets Wizbang for short. The other Mal at work is Venom. :D

I want to name a dog Interrobang. I have no idea what exactly it would get shortened to, just that it would. And I'm saving it for a male Dutchie, so if anyone steals it, just know, I SAID IT FIRST.

Four of mine are pretty original, I haven't met another Kiba, Stryder, Tsuki, or Lincoln - except for Romy's Strider.

Charlie is pretty common.. for a boy. :rofl1: Haven't met another girl Charlie.

I'm super finicky about names. I prefer something a little different (mine doesn't have to be the only dog with that name, but I don't want a name everyone uses. And I have a really strong preference for a 2 syllable name that shortens easily to a single syllable. My first Stafford, Elmo, shortened easily to Mo, I really liked. Ditto with Pirate, shortens to Pi. So if I need to call in a hurry, I can, or if I want to draw it out trying to get their attention, I can.

Tess was my experiment with a single syllable name (also a fairly common name, though I don't know many Tesses personally.) I discovered that the single syllable doesn't work for me, because my dog winds up being called something completely different. Tess gets called "Roo", probably more often than I call her Tess; it's short for "Tessaroo".

I used to want very unique names for my dogs, but after coming up with a list, and not really liking a single one of them for my last dog, I kind of gave up. He ended up as Mitchell, which, as it turns out, seems to be a rather uncommon dog name, but most importantly it suited him to a T.

Some names I like for my next dog:
- Rook
- Astra
- Hex
- Dwight
- Packet
- Data
- Hyde
- Jive
- Gully/Gulliver

I know a few female charlies, at least one of them human lol. I named one of Dekka's littermates Charlie (girl) but she got renamed Trix. She had a charlie Chaplin mustache

We named our dogs Jack and Suzie. My mom named Suzie, and we wanted to keep up our theme of human names for the dogs so we name the next dog Captain Jack. Which we, of course, shortened to Jack.

Our cat is named Sign though. 'Tis pretty unusual I suppose. We have to say, "Like a stop SIGN." for people to get it.

And my childhood dog was named Ngai. Never Gives An Inch. She was a tough little thing. And we pronounced it Na-Gie. Like Lie, but with a soft G.
