Hey Jason...maybe instead of an endless debate about this, maybe you can post what you want in a dog, and then we can help you find a breed that will suit you.
I have found the breeds I'm interested in and I listed them in the first post of this thread. Thanks.

we're full of ourselves because we are more open minded and have done more research and have a much better understanding of dogs and breeding than you do??? being around one dog doesnt mean anything. there are thousands that shed just as much as goldens do. and you still havnt answered the question. what do you like about the labradoodle that you cant get in another breed? and dont say anything about shedding because that is bulls**t.
What a stupid post. Quit wasting everyone's time ok?

okay, go with the golden or flat coated. flat coated is not as common as the golden. avoid labradoodles like the plague. I understand you not wanting to hear bad things about one of your 3 choices, but you asked for our advice and opinions. and we do know a thing or two about dogs, breeding and breeders. whyd you ask for our opinions if you didnt want to hear them? did you think we would all praise you for wanting a labradoodle? they are simply put, a money making scheme. I have seen goldens who shed less than a poodle, I have seen goldens who practically blew their coat all year long. but there simply are very few (if any) respectable breeders of labradoodles. and if that is what your heart is set on, get a mix from a shelter.

I don't mind the heated discussion. But keep the cuss words out of it.
One shouldn't ask on a open forum for an opinion unless they are ready to receive one or more that differs from their own. Please respect each other's.

Through all of this Jason seems set on the Labradoodle, Im not going to try and change his mind to many people have provided info and opinions against them allready.

Jason if you do get a LD make sure you can check out the parentage, for what 3 generations back? The breeder if a good one should have all documentation for their dogs. I like the idea of the 2 sites you seem set on that tattoo all their pups for documentation, Im not convinced they are reputable Ill leave that to you.

There are 2 mutts living here one dosent shed very much the other seems to shed as he breathes. I have a good vacuum and shop vac.

Jason I think you posted you have an income 4x over the mean, is it not in your budget to spend extra for a groomer and for a house keeper to deal with the extra dog hair? Im not going to look now for what you posted as income.

Alot of dogs and pups are in shelters and rescues slated to be put down. The more dogs that are addopted from shelters or rescues the less attractive breeding for dollars will be.

Jason allot of alternatives for other breeds have been brought up, look into them and sit down with your wife maybe you could both agree on a different breed. You werent clear on weather your wife was set on a Golden.

I found no problems with labradoodles temperament and healthwise (then again i have only met about six), and those two things are all I really care about. I couldnt really give a hoot about wether or not a dog meets a percieved standard, as long as he meets temperamental and health criteria

Be careful bridey, your opinions are not welcome here. And neither am I. None of you seem to grasp I have not made a decision on buying a dog yet and that I was here looking for feedback. It is not the specific feedback I have a problem with but the manner in which it was delivered. I joined this forum for knowledge to gain insight into purchasing a dog and hopefully make myself a better dog owner. I am disappointed in how things turned out. I have been a member of this forum for a whopping two or three days and I've already had enough. To those that have offered constructive feedback, I thank you. To the rest of you: thanks for nothing.

The best dog in the world is the one we love... our heart dog. We love him or her because they are part of our lives and we,part of theirs. They could be small or large, hairy or hairless, a wound up endless ball of energy or a layed back couch potato. No one can tell another individual what they should have. An individual can state here what they are looking for......when people state their suggestions based on their wants, no one needs to bash it, but can add to suggestions. Too many times we start off with someone wanting a small dog and 30 posts later people are arguing between a bull mastiff and great dane. !!! Please, keep your posts in the contex of the 1st..... we all love our own breeds or favor rescue/Hs.

Jason. I hope you don't leave. There are alot of uninformed immature posters here who seem to have nothing better to do than post just to see their posts. Why don't you just PM those who seem to have you and your wife's interest in mind. I'd like to see you here though to help others who are lurking and not posting. Don't let a few bad apples spoil the pot.

Think of it this way Jason, there are those who want to fight (and contribute nothing) and those that will accept your decision as your right and give you the best advice they can. Please don't go, the majority of us are really rather friendly. Everyone just has heated opinions on some things, for instance "mutts". I have abso nothing against mixed breed dogs, in fact they are often healthier. I'm all for labradoodles. But get me started about choke chains and prong collars and I'm as stubborn and pig headed as anyone!

Wow I hope I'm not one of those uninformed immature posters just because I warned him to buy his dog at a GOOD breeder? I have nothing against labradoodles either, it's the people that breed them for money that I mind.

We've told him lots of reasons not to trust one of the breeders he posted about, and he wouldn't listen. Whatever the feedback we gave, he wasn't happy and didn't take it into account at all. For God's sake, his second post was to tell Saje she had things backwards because his neighbor has got a puppy from a labradoodle breeder! Obviously he knows everything about the breed because he knows one of them, why did he even ask us what we think in the first place then?

I don't know if this is true or not, but it seems that nobody really knows anything about this breed.
This is what we got after we gave our feedback. And now it's our fault for delivering feedback in the wrong manner? S

I totally agree with Chaz, if he is not willing to listen to people, why did he even post in the first place? There is lots of information in this thread, he's just ignoring it because for him we are 'ignorant'. He's the one who has been agressive here.

I'm speechless, I can't even believe that some of you are taking his side, and accusing some of the older poster of being 'uninformed immature' when they are just giving advice. I guess he's not the only one who is disappointed today

First of all, why most of us here are against doodles and poos is because there are so many of them in the shelter waiting for homes - if you buy one from a breeder, you're taking the chance for a good home away from one of those dogs.

You asked for our opinions and input, and we gave it to you. We tried to be as nice as possible, though you keep coming back without even considering listening what other people have to say. And then you say,

EXCUSE me?! We've been trying to help you for who knows how long now!! But YES, we DO know more than you do about dogs - that's because we take the time to research them, to spend time with them, and we spend time on these boards, learning new things about the species, and LISTENING TO OTHER PEOPLE'S OPINIONS!!

Fine, if you want to buy a doodle, buy a doodle. I don't care if you spend thousands of dollars on veterinary care and then, low and behold, the dog sheds. Just remember that you ended the life of a shelter dog because of your decision.

I totally agree with fran and gaddy. a whole bunch of people gave good, knowledgable, polite responses to his question. after 21 pages it has become a little heated because someone started insulting those opinions AFTER asking for them. the closest any of us came to being rude and/or insulting was asking him to ANSWER A QUESTION. I am deeply offended that some people are taking his side on this. if he wants a labradoodle fine. if the extent of his post was "I want to get a labradoodle" most of us would have overlooked the thread or said "good for you. why?" he was offended by the fact that we know more than him??? oh poor baby!!! he doesnt want to hear our opinions??? fine, dont ask for them again.
