That is an excellent point and perhaps overlooked until now. Perhaps it was not a decision this poster sought, but an understanding of her predicament: a non dog lover stuck with a dog she does not want but is 'in the family'.

*chuckles a bit*

It amazes me how hard people will defend their "right" to be rude.

I have no problems with people giving advice that differs from mine. My point was that she came to us with a problem - some people judged her immediately and responded in a rude and brusque way. I do behavior consultations where I live, most people are recommended to me by the local veterinarians, and I see the strain that a "problem" dog can have on a household. I don't think responding to someone rudely when they bring a problem to the list is a valid attempt to help. I see it more as someone acting out because they CAN due to the anonymity of the internet.

Personally I don't hide behind the computer screen - I'm pretty open about who I am and what I do. And I try to give honest and kind advice in order to help those who may really need help.

And as I said before - who among us has not made mistakes with their dogs? If you have advice to give (honest advice) then why not give it with a touch of kindness instead of a taint of rudeness or contempt? It's just as easy to be kind as it is to be mean.

Honestly the only person I am considering becoming "rude" with is you. My responses to you were not me defending my rights to be mean or rude. They were me telling you that neither myself nor I believe anyone else was posting just for the fun of running someone off.

I understand that people come here for help. Go find my first post on this board. It was about my own dog's behavior issues, and I received kind and good advice, but I didn't title my thread "I want to get rid of her" and I take him to a animal behaviorist now. As far as me hiding behind my computer or in the anonymity of the Internet, if my own mother approached this issue with the same phrasing and wording as the original poster I would give her my feelings in the same manner as I have done in this thread.

Please tell me where I said I carried "contempt" for the op also because I must of missed my own post. I do however now hold contempt for you and the entire state of Alaska.

Brock, no, not Alaska. I had an acquaintance spend a summer there and she said it was beautiful.
A Brock-Lucille pact, propose do I: We know we gave good and honorable answers as did many. Let's ignore the troll person and proceed on to other dog conversation.
Deal?

To the luci-bro mutual admiration society:

In all honesty, if a person chooses to go back and look through this thread - neither of you offered any real advice at all. You made judgement on why the original poster posted, but you didn't offer anything constructive in any way. It appears that you both just entered the thread in order to argue.

So be it. On forums like this, there are those who want to help and those who don't. I know which category I fall in - and I'm pretty darn sure which category the two of you fall in. All you have to do is go back through this thread to see.

This thread is still going on? What are we even talking about anymore? Looks like people just want to get the last word in. Let's get back to the topic.

Well, darn .. I haven't been here long enough to get any nasty PM's!

Guess I'm going to have to try harder .. *LOL*

My outlook on this is that there's nothing I'm afraid to say in public so there's no reason to go to PM. And if someone sends me a PM message, that message then belongs to me and I can share it wherever I want .. *grin* .. but mostly I just ignore those messages. I just sit back and think "they're waiting for a reply .... " .. *LOL*

As far as the flames and arguments go - there's just no way you can bring together a group of diverse people like this and not have disagreements. The people here would probably not mix together as a whole. We have only one thing truly in common and that's the dogs. You'll find other things in common with some, but as a group that's all we have.
I've been online for nine years now, been on a GSD and Chow email list that whole time. We've found that we do pretty well as long as we avoid religion and politics .. *L*

And in all honesty, if you look at the threads where there are disagreements, arguments, even flaming - those are the threads that get the most views! People LIKE seeing that stuff. It's kind of like driving past a car wreck .. you just can't help but look. If a person didn't like the arguing, they simply don't have to click on that thread.
Now, the lists that REALLY fight are the ones made of just trainers. Whew!! Somehow I can't get them to figure out that I'm always

I guess I can play the last word game with you if you want. Here is a post of yours I stumbled across that I believe sums up your contributions to this thread.

To your first point: Yep you are definetly trying harder it appears.

To your second point: Good for you, you invented the internet 9 years ago.

And to your final point: Your right people do like to look at car wrecks, the problem is the people who go around causing the wrecks like yourself

*ROTFL*

Ahh, brock my boy, you had to go through my old posts in order to try to discredit me?

I offered a nice long post in this particular thread with reasonable advice to the original poster - and then I make one mention of how there were people who were rude and you jump all over me for it. Nothing I said in the post that you copied from ANOTHER THREAD (and completely out of context here) makes a difference. You may not be able to understand the humor in the post you copied either (obviously not).

There were people who were quite rude on this thread. There was no real need to be rude. You're trying to get away from that fact, and the fact that you didn't offer anything worth value to this thread.

*still chuckling here* .. you really worked hard to find something to throw at me, didn't you? Why bother? This whole thing has you really worked up. I didn't cause the car wreck here - I offered valid advice. It's those of you who stepped in with criticisms and judgements who caused the car wreck.

And yes, I'm sure there are some who are drawn back to this thread just to watch the disagreement - even though the point of the thread is no longer being addressed. Such is life. Doesn't bother me one way or the other. I'll keep on giving valid advice when I can - you might try that sometime. It feels kind of good knowing you're actually helping instead of judging.

:D

ew.

You should find her a new home. The fact you know you neglect her, and are never home, and spank her, and don't even like dogs makes me sick.

I have no advice for you because you won't follow it.

Get her a new home. you should be ashamed of yourself.

this can be solved with either excercise or training. I hate owners like this one. plus its your husband's dog not yours. It wouldn't be surprised if he found out when you give his dog away that he divorces you.

From what I'm seeing here, alot of people gave really good advice that this lady took in genuingly. She seems like she cares and I hope she makes the right decision for herself and for the dog.....and of course, the husband...

As for the rest of you that are WAY OFF TOPIC...you need to stop this pathetic 2 year old bickering right about now. I am sick of people trying to get the last word in and not accepting the fact that maybe their opinion or should I say, personal attack on someone..is just downright wrong...

I am ashamed to say that this is definately making the members of this forum look like snobby tryhard dog owners that think they own the bloody world...this isn't a click...its a forum for dog owners to share useful advice with one another and help one another out..if you are going to b**** at one another like little school children, then do it in your own private PMS, not in a thread!!!

THIS STOPS NOW!

Well said. WELL said.

And, Orbit, that kind of a post is just not acceptable. This dog does belong to this woman's husband - who pays no attention to it, spends no time with it, does not train it and has left it in his wife's hands to take care of. Read things a little more carefully before you write personal attacks on people with no understanding whatsoever of their situation. I am assuming you are very young, or you would not have posted something so immature, but those kinds of personal comments are not appropriate neither do they have anything to with dogs, and their welfare.

Guys, I agree with you but bickering about people bickering usually doesn't do any good.

That being said, the OP hasn't come back for days now, so just let the thread die, please?
