HOLY Fark that was a tense game. That really could have gone either way very easily. But the Gold is with it's rightful owners in it's rightful country :)

But man do I feel bad for Miller. that guy played his heart out and he was nothing short of fantastic and he seriously looked like he was going to breakdown and bawl at the end of that. He's not going to care tonight that he played a hell of a tournament

What a great game.

I'm so glad they gave miller the MVP though. He certainly deserved it. he was the better goalie today.

YES. Canada not only got the gold for hockey, but that win broke the record for most gold medals won by a single country in the history of the Olympic games. <3 I'm so proud of my country and our athletes. They worked so hard and deserved every bit.

That said, the USA played a GREAT game. That was an amazing last-minute goal to kick it into overtime. AMAZING game, even if it did give me ulcers. :rofl1:

Canada won !! I'm glad for them . It's their sport .
I am glad Canada won as well. :) After all ... hockey is so very important to Canucks, 'specially since we know those poor frozen dears up there all live in igloos with no electricity, only ever get to use their melon ballers to cut whale blubber which they have to eat while pretending it's real watermelon, and they never ever get to have a summer. teehee -==ducking==--

But.. now what am I going to watch on TV?
Same thought!! I watch the Olympics, but rarely watch TV otherwise. It's always a little bit of a letdown after the closing ceremonies.

For those who may not know how much Canadians (as a country) love their hockey.

After the game there was partying in the streets. Not only in vancouver but in other major cities. Streets in toronto were closed down, people were body surfing the crowd. There are pics of RCMP officers high fiving people. On some of the sites I am on the stories are just crazy. People climbing lamp posts, screaming and waving flags.

The Americans should also be very proud of their team! It was a very close game and they weren't expected to be a contender from gold. I was reading an article that said the american team had to reschedule their flights as they weren't considered to make it to the finals. They played better than expected and gave everyone a hell of a show!

I agree Dekka........that was one helluva game! It could have gone either way at the end, and quite honestly, I am GLAD Canada won it BECAUSE it does mean so much more to all of you :)

I'm still waiting on American Football to get into the Olympics! WOOT! :rofl1:

LOL I called my mom after the game ended and we were talking about it. She said eventually her dog got off the couch and left to go sit by my step dad because my mom kept bouncing around on the couch and one time she went to pound her fist on the couch and accidently bonked shelby on the head LOL at that point she had enough and got up and left LOL.

But we were both saying that if we didnt know any better you'd swear it was rigged to have that seriously tense last few seconds goal to tie it up and send it to overtime. It just wouldn't have been a US/Canada gold medal game if it ended in regulation LOL

Wow, that's so great to hear. :)

When we watched the game yesterday I really wanted Canada to win, precisely because it seemed it would be more important to Canadians as a whole. It is their national sport, and with this years Olympics right on their home soil ... well, kinda seemed like it was theirs to win. People here would have been happy if the USA won, but I don't think the reaction would have been quite as strong, with partying in the streets all across the country. From comments heard and headlines seen today, everyone here is really happy for the Canadians.

The Americans should also be very proud of their team! It was a very close game and they weren't expected to be a contender from gold. I was reading an article that said the american team had to reschedule their flights as they weren't considered to make it to the finals.
^^^ Read the same thing on the flight change!! None of the predictions expected the USA team to get to the finals, almost all are young and inexperienced, nealry all had never been in any previous Olympics. They were originally planning to fly home early, with some returning for the closing ceremonies. Those plans obviously changed, and they did play excellently!! It was a very exciting game, and I'm not a hockey fan ... lol.
