It depends on where you are. We've got state troopers here with felony criminal records . . .
lol....I've never looked into our fine police force here in TN......I don't doubt it though. There was a thing on the news here about all of the accidents our Memphis police get into...it was WAAAY above the national average-maybe they need to extend the driving portion of their training...lol!

Now I'm conused! You've said many times you were already in law enforcement classes at a technical school. How can you be in college classes without having certain credits already or been finished with high school completely?
I was going to a technical school for half of a school day and then I went to high school for the other half of the day. Its a program that only a few states have. The technical school had other classes like fire fighting, cosmetology, welding, nursing, etc.

I thought you were going to be home full time, which is why you wanted another puppy? When did you suddenly realize you had to have a full time job?

And a GED, while better than nothing, is still not as good as an acutal high school diploma. The best you can hope for with a GED is to score in the top 5%, which at least makes it look like you were really serious about the GED. My good friend in high school did this and is now working towards being an RN.

Dreeza, you can work full-time and take a full work load, but it SUCKS. My roommate my senior year of college did this and he was a b*tch to be around. But he was also able to afford to not only pay for his school all by himself, but got some scholarships, bought a more reliable car, has the biggest CD collection of anyone I knew...just no social life. :)
I was going to continue going to an online high school, but I recently decided to go back to the public school. And other things didnt work out (long story), so now I have to get a job.

I thought you couldn't return to high school after a certain age. If you are 19 you won't graduate until you are 21/22???? That doesn' seem right

The reason why I do not think its possible for me to go to school full time and get a job full time is because I am going back to my law enforcement class. I dont get home until 4:30 pm. When I do get home I am extremely tired. Running 2 miles, doing sit ups, push ups, obstacle coarse, running up and down 4 fights of stairs with a 50 pound vest on, etc. and being on a anti-depressant just drains all my energy. So maybe I shouldnt take the law class.

I don't see why the police academy wouldn't take a ged. Why don't you call them and ask what their education requirements are? That could help you decide what to do.

and being on a anti-depressant
I am very sorry that you need one of these Meds. I just want to let you nkow that a lot of Police Forces will not accept a candidate that is on anti-depressant drugs. There is simply too much liability. Can you imagine how it would go in court if you had to use lethal force on a bad guy and his lawyer gets wind that you are on one of those drugs?

Yes, and a person on such a waiver is NOT allowed to serve in Combat Arms, Aviation or Aviation Support activities.

Sorry, but there is no room for ADD or "I need a hug" on the battlefield.

+1 I used this often when my soldiers would whine about, say Chemical Training.

PVT - "Sgt. Beakes, it is hot and I am tired.... can we take a break?"

SGT Beakes - "Aww.... NO! You think the bad guys are goingto turn the gas off because you are tired??? Now, for asking a stupid ass question, gimme 50."

Man, was I ever a jerk. BUT, as a leader I NEVER lost a man and I had taken my team into some bad spots.

Here ya go, Landk: http://tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051211/COLUMNIST0105/512110358/1099

That's just one piece. This has been hitting the news for the last week or so - nothing that surprises a lot of us who've dealt with 'em here

I am a highschool dropout and went to work fulltime I have gotten a GED and went to a community college for my degree in RAD Tech. I can tell from experience and if it possible, get your highschool diploma. You will need all the education you can stand and then some. Being a female and trying to make it on your own so young you will need it in the end. I don't really know of a police academy who will turn you away for a GED or Therapy schools, but I do know that it looks better on a resume and you can take online courses and night schools and correspondence courses all of these are available to you. Since you are not living with your parents you should qualify for student aid. There is a lot to be said for education!!!!
