I really don't quite understand you're whole deal to begin with, Rottiegirl... why are you 19 and not graduated from high school? Why did you begin extraciriccualar (sp) education before even graduating? Usually those extraciricullar (sp) activites just bolster you high school education. Just a note to what you probably don't want to hear. A graduate-level college diploma is worth about what a high school diploma was 15 years ago. Therefore, you see the value of a GED diploma might be today. I think it would be in your best interest to get into a trade. I can't remember the last time my plumber or electrician didn't charge me $100 just to show up...

Well not to mention that she is on here all throughout the day and evening. She stated in an earlier thread that she did not work at all and she was home all the time. Now suddenly she has a job and goes to school. I am more than confused and its good to know I am not the only one.

I am very sorry that you need one of these Meds. I just want to let you nkow that a lot of Police Forces will not accept a candidate that is on anti-depressant drugs. There is simply too much liability. Can you imagine how it would go in court if you had to use lethal force on a bad guy and his lawyer gets wind that you are on one of those drugs?
the meds is only temporary.

The reason why I do not think its possible for me to go to school full time and get a job full time is because I am going back to my law enforcement class. I dont get home until 4:30 pm. When I do get home I am extremely tired. Running 2 miles, doing sit ups, push ups, obstacle coarse, running up and down 4 fights of stairs with a 50 pound vest on, etc. and being on a anti-depressant just drains all my energy. So maybe I shouldnt take the law class.
Girl.... I don't mean disrespect here but, you need a good slap of reality. First off, get your H.S. diploma, a GED sounds so ghetto. Maybe, get rid of the b.f., and concentrate on yourself for a bit. Also, I don't know what vest you are wearing, but bullet proof vests are not 50 pounds...more like 6 or 7.

You are not being true to you, just seems like you are posting here for "reinforcement." No one is going to wipe your butt, or anything of yours in the "real life."

You need to take a stand, and do what's right for you. Concentrate on you, get your own place, or stay with family if you can. If the b.f. loves you soooooooo much, he will stand by your decision, and back you AND be there for you when you finish. If not, he's not your Prince Charming....

Bottom line, you can wish and wait, and pretty soon, it's going to be too late for everything. Then you wonder why you are just exisitsitng.....and not living your dream. Take the bull by the horns and ride that sucker!

The vest is a training vest, not a bullet proof vest. Its meant to be heavy. Anyhow, I was just wandering if a GED is any different than a diploma because i hear so many people say that its no different. I am going to do whats best for me, but i wasnt sure if its going to be possible for me to get my diploma. I dont even have a car or my license. I feel pretty much hopeless. I am tired of relying on my bf for everything. He treats me like i am his daughter. Thanks for your advice. You have allways given great advice.

Go back on your posts in this thread alone , and check your spelling.

Now address the other points I brought up in this thread and other threads of yours.

If you havent noticed, i am a very lazy and sloppy typer. i could care less about how my spelling is on an internet forum, and it has nothing to do with my schooling. Anyhow, there arent any other points that i have not addressed in this thread (except for the bf issue).

I have my GED, and it's not "ghetto" animalbiz. I'm sticking my tongue out at you!! :p
But... My circumstances were way different. I have posted here before about how my high school was and it was just getting worse (with drugs/gangs.) Then, after I left in 10th grade, I was going to finish up at home. I started homeschooling in 11th, but then we found out about my little sister's brain tumor in November of that school year. My parents needed me so much since my dad was at work and mom was getting awake all the time thinking something would go wrong.
I just got my GED so that I could help around the house as much as possible. Then, I went through an internet correspondence course for grooming. Then, I worked at a vet to get lots of hands on experience.
Looking at it from the outside, it seems that I could have just slowly finished high school at my own pace... slowly and still help out. But, the home school admins. expect a report card every 9weeks and are very strict if the required work is not finished by the end of the quarter. Soooo, I just took 4 hours out of one day and got my GED. I scored well. I could have signed up for classes to take my ACTs. But, I was so interested in the grooming and vet tech fields, and I knew I didn't necessarily have to go to college for them. Yes, the pay is better, but I didn't want my parents to pay money they didn't have for me to go to college when I could just work really hard at achieving what I wanted. It broke their hearts, but I did it. Still am doing it.
Anyway, the best thing to do is find an accredited home school agency that will also allow you take your ACTs through them. Come home everyday and do it. A high school diploma and college on your resume is what is expected these days. Not really appreciated, but expected. If you do decide to get yoru GED, more power to you... But it is a whole hell of a lot harder if you take that route.

The bf issue is all yours, more than I have given advice on that.

Your typing, spelling and grammer, are like a GED. Poor spelling and grammer lead another to believe you have a poor education, just like having a GED would lead another, a potential employer, that you have a poor education and even worse a poor work ethic.

Im dyslexic have ADD and used to be on a mood alterant, I graduated with honors.

Im not familiar with Pax enough to say it is a short or long term treatment.

That's great blue. I love hearing stories of people like you. My cousin is dyslexic and was doing poorly in school. They didn't know why until he went to a learning center and they figured it out. He got the help he needed and was held back a grade to "re-learn" what he missed. Now, he is in college on a full scholarship.

4 years isn't temporary...and even if you aren't taking anti-depressants any more, the fact that you took them for any period of time (especially 4 years) shows a history of clinical depression-which brings up the whole liability issue previously mentioned. You should really look into if it will be something that disqualifies you from law enforcement before you continue in a technical course that makes it too difficult for you to do your other schoolwork. You should be 100% focused on getting through school right now (and taking courses you need for graduation), and THEN if you decide college won't work, look into a massage school or esthetician course or something like that that you can complete in a relatively short time and use to enter the work force......pretty soon finishing at a regular high school won't be an option for you anymore, and then you will be seriously regretting it.
