Awwwwwwww OC...you put Goldens down first ! Why ??
Aw Grammy don''t get me wrong I think they''re fabulous! I just could not bring myself to pay money for one, WAY too popular for my liking. I don''t want what everyone else has.

I''d also like to take the CAO off the list, been reading up more on them and really starting to take a fancy to them after all LOL

Unfortunately , they are popular for a reason..but cost wise they are cheaper than the " designer dogs " .... even from a show breeder.

I would never own a terrier breed. I've rescued several JRT and I can't deal with the hyper energy. I love big dogs but not the ones that drool. I have to have a smart dog that wants to listen. Guess that's why i'm so obsessed with the herding breeds :p

hmmm.. Its kind of a hard choice really... im in love with any dog i see <3

Toy or small dogs, id be afraid id loose them or step on them, and Yami plays rough. Id be afraid he'd hurt him.

Dogs with alot of grooming needs, not because im lazy, just because im sure even if you do groom them properly, their would still be hair everywhere.

<33

Haha, watch the next dog i adopt be exactly what i discribed.

I wouldn't really want to own very small dogs like chihuahuas, bichons, malteses, etc... basically nothing in the toy group. And even though they are huge and adorable I would also think twice before getting something like a St. Bernard because of all of the slobber. I also think I would shy away from breeds that are dog aggressive. Just my personal preference. All the breeds are wonderful in their own ways and fullfill a unique purpose.

I'm with you, Melissa. I love all breeds , but there are more I wouldn't own than those I would. I like an established breed that have 90% plus in their favor.

As dog lovers can any of you really see your selves without a dog? If the only breed of dog out there was the breed you say you wouldn't own, could you say I would rather be without a dog?

To me the Puli is least appealing because of the hair but if the only dogs left on earth were Pulis you can bet I would have two at my side. They would be shaved but well loved :p

I wouldn't want to own "most" toy breeds and I prefer dogs who weigh over 50lbs or to me it isn't a dog *no offense*:D I also wouldn't own a husky: I like a dog that will stay with you in the woods, not take off. boer boel, fila brasiliero, presa canario, great dane, mastiff, jowels and are druling fools. And most of the breeds I mentioned are tall enough to grab things off your counters and kitchen table LOL! Also, cocker spaniel, lhasa apso, or a poodle.

Any dog from the herding group EXCEPT the Border Collie, Collie, Malinois & German Shepherd. Australian Shepherds tend to be too timid and don't have much of a herding drive. I also like tails on my dogs. Corgis and Shelties are too small and can't get the job done when it comes to herding cattle. Heelers have a tendancy to get aggressive. The rest just aren't my style and can't get the job done when it comes to herding cattle.
This is my opinion on that... =P

*MOST cattle ranchers I've spoken to would take a Corgi or an ACD over a BC for their cattle annny day! With most of the current lines that I've seen, a lot of BC's just are not competent with hard cattle... I've actually seen a BC who wanted to just use his "eyes" get kicked in the head by pretty mild cattle, it was very sad. My BC is the opposite, he's too hard for most sheep & ducks, and much better with cattle; a lot more like an ACD.

*About Corgis being too small and not getting the job done with cattle - tell that to my Aunt's dozen+ Pembrokes working cattle daily! ;) They are awesome little dogs and are happiest when they're working all day long. My Aunt's place is called Carol Rose Quarter Horses (in TX), they have lots of other livestock, too.

Jack Russell! I would never get another despite how much I adore mine. I had researched alot before getting him but in the end I was not up to the challenge. He's a bit out of control.

HER OWN PLANET
Poodles... just dont care for them
German Shepards.....afraid of them
Pitt bulls.... to many people have a problem and blame them
Rotties.... same as above although I love them
Chows ..afraid of them
great danes, St. bernards and all others that need a corral lol
I guess that is why there are so many breeds one is a gaurntee custom fit for you in other words one size does not fit all

I love a lot more breeds than I dislike.

I wouldn't even say that I dislike them but I just don't have a huge interest in them.

Poodles (just don't favor them for no particular reason) although for some reason I love standard poodles. Pugs & Pekes (Im not a fan of the "ran into a brick wall doing a 100 look) even though they are still cute i guess.

Ummmmmm, no offense, but have you ever watched a sheltie herd??? I use my ONE adult sheltie to herd over 50 head of cows on a monthly basis. Size has nothing to do with it...

I would tend to agree that on a herd of young or strong-willed cattle, a Border Collie won't do much. They were bred to work sheep, everything about their mannerisms reflects on that. In order to have a Border Collie be a truly successful cattledog you will most likely have to breed out some of the things that make a BC a BC in the first place. Eye, for example, won't get a dog anywhere with most cattle. Would you consider it ethical to be breeding that out or lessening it, so the dog would be suited to work cattle? Keep in mind that not many cattledogs can also work sheep and poultry, because most are simply too grippy and aggressive.

I guess I don't understand the point or "cattle bred" borders, when there are already many breeds that are great on cattle and few that are as good on sheep as the Border Collie. Why not go with one of those breeds if you want cattle dogs, instead of changing the border collie?
