I'm saying that if you want no contact now , have it set up for the future .

Puppydog, my uncle is an OB/GYN.

According to him (& my doctors too), a baby born before 38 weeks is considered a pre-term baby.

And for many, the 40 week/9 month equation is found by using a 5 week month...which is what they usually do since technically 4 weeks is only 28 days and there is only 1 month with that few days. ;)

Really?

here anything after 36 weeks is full term. and I was considered 3 months at 12 weeks.... funny the differences between Dr's
And they went with 28 days because that is technically a full cycle for a female.

Lucky probably. Women in general are smaller in SA. All my friends and my sister who have delivered at 36-38 weeks are thin girls. Their babies were also small. I only have one friend who delivered 3 weeks late and she was a big girl. Wide hips and quite stocky. My gyne says that smaller women tend to deliver earlier.

I know my mother is tiny and my sister and I delivered early. 3 weeks for my sister and 1.5 for me.

...Coming into this convo late...

Speaking from experience of getting a monthly check from a father that wanted nothing to do with me... I think it's stupid.. so he paid money.. big whoop. He wasn't there to support, he wasn't there to kiss my injured knee, he wasn't there when I made honors, he wasn't there when I was 2nd chair in band, he didn't see me graduate, he didn't see me get married.. his money meant nothing to me and his existence on earth means nothing other than the fact that he was around long enough to make me and then split.

Having a name on the birth certificate means NOTHING if the person is not there in person to be a part of their child's life. I would have been happy to not have had that money from him in my name.

The man I consider my father wasn't a part of my life until I was three years old.. he's the only father I've ever known and the only one that matters. I'm not of his blood, but I'm in his heart and THAT is what matters.

The father is the father, no less than the mother is the mother. For a father to abandon his child is a crime against humanity and isn't an option for a human being. To do so is inhuman. Pay shmay! He should be the father that he is! How would he have felt if his father hadn't wanted him??

It is so much better to forget the cash let the kid see the parent ,the kid will nickel and dime any wa, with the I wants . then you won,t have to and save yourself some money from lergal fees , treat the ex like a dog , get on with your life and keep going.
