Does Florida have a "father of Record"?

And FWIW, this thread was started so it wouldnt be about Breeze and Josh. Im glad there are those who recognised it as such.

LOL you have obviously never been pregnant ....

when you are... you count the weeks. it's ten months. You are pregnant for 40+ weeks (unless you go earlly) They say 9 months because technically at 36 weeks the child is considered full term.... but 40 weeks is the norm and Drs will very very rarely induce before that unless nessecary.

So 40 weeks.... average 4 weeks in a month.... 4 times 10 equals 40.... TEN months.

Yikes! A whole extra month! Reason I ask is because everyone I know has delivered at 36 weeks normally. And no, I don't have kids yet, but that whole 42 week thing has me nervous now! LOL!

I have never heard of such a thing. What is it?

And I tried to keep it impersonal but it could never stay that way with people basically saying I do not care for my daughter and that I am a bad mother.

I don't think anyone said that Breeze. I really don't think they meant anything that way. Most people, in fact, agree with what you are doing. I know I do. Being a mother is a very personal thing and you need to decide what you have to do. If you feel that asking for support may endanger your little girl, then stay the hell away from him and his money.
I am sure you will be a wonderful mother to your little girl. Father around or not. You are the one who has been around for her for the past couple of months while he is off somewhere doing who knows what.

"Father of Record", in AK anyway, is the name on the BC is recognised as the father regaurdless of the fact that another man fatherred the child.

That's pretty standard, Blue. Most states have worked towards having commonality with each other for child support enforcement reasons.

Once a man is on the birth certificate as the father, it's a major deal to remove him, even after being proven to NOT be the biological father. The Court is loathe to bastardize a child.

my daughter's fingernails were a quarter inch long and she had long scratches down her face when she was born. SHe was sectioned because she was just to big for me. I had such bad prenatal care with her! They induced my son because they said he was so cramped it was affecting his heart rate. SHe was bigger and had to go all that more time.

I believe Hy's dad is on the birth certificate, he escapes paying support and no one knows where he is. SO that is just one more piece of paper that means nothing in my life.

Here is Louisiana, the state made a deal with pizza places to put the pictures of dead-beat dads (dads who run or just refuse to pay child support & owe it) on the tops of the pizza boxes. It's great!

LOL YOu have lucky friends :D

When my mom was pregnant with me... I was due at the end of May... I wasn't born until June 22nd lol... by that time I was 9lbs 14 oz.

After 36 weeks that's all the baby does until he or she is born... just put on weight... lol so the longer you go... the bigger your baby will be. Fun huh? :D

I got pregnant near the beginning of December and Hannah was born Sept 27th and the only reason she was born so "soon" (40 and 1/2 weeks) was because they induced me because my fluid was low.... she had NO plans of coming out on her own ANY time soon lol

No you were just used as the example... since it started from another thread.... it wasn't ABOUT you. You decided that everything that was said was about you.

No one said you are a bad mother... not once. I guess some of us just don't understand why any "father" should be let off scott free just because he decides so. The other thread was about you... this is about ALL women(or men... primary caregivers) and child support.

I believe the men should at least pay the child support if that is what the mother wants. If she doesn't want it then well.... she doesn't want it. I can see why a mother wouldn't want it. Just want to be her and her new family. If the man wanted nothing to do with the babe then she may just feel that cutting off all ties is better.

^^^ that's the way I would feel . Would be nice though if they had to pay into an account for college education in the child's name due at age 18 .

I think here you can still get support for a child over 18 (or is it 19 in Canada) if they are attending post secondary school. Don't hold me to that though.

yes you can

My brother is 18 and is in university and my dad still has to pay $500 a month.
