They didnt give me one of those or anything. I have the spray, tucks pads and epifoam i think its called and thst really helps. Oh she is already when shes awake lol. And has been alot better since we got home. Thank you.
Well if you can... try at least once a day to put a couple of inches of water in the tub... warm water is best. it REALLY does help. And they also gave me this little bottle to fill with warm water and everytime I went to the bathroom I had to rinse myself afterwards... that also really helps with the stitches and keeping discomfort at bay. Using the sitz bath... I hardly had any discomfort after a couple of days.... but don't forget they are there when they don't seem to hurt anymore. LOL I did that and flopped down on the couch one night... OUCH ;)

And I do'nt know if you are just wiping with the tucks pads or not but my nurse recommended letting it sit there for a bit... I know TMI but you will get a lot of that now lol... and it really does help.

Talk about puckered stitches !!!! So happy about the nursing !!! Don't let your Mom question whether she's getting enough !!! That was my main problem with my Mom with my first !!! Relax and by 4th day all is supply and demand . Love ya !

Glad to hear your nursing is going well. I became engorged with both of mine, fairly common problem I think. But also very painful. I'm so glad you decided to nurse, there are so many women out there who say they will "try it" and then give up and say they couldn't do it. It's so good for her and you too. It is such a great bonding time, I miss it:( So glad you are home and both happy and healthy, what a blessing. You will remember these days forever. And they go by so darn fast, enjoy them as much as possible! Can't give you any advice on the stiches down there, mine were in a different area:D (((HUGS)))

Congratulations... and nursing is a great thing... sometimes it;s hard and sometimes it's easy....

BUT.. I jsut want to mention one thing. I hope this isn't out of place in this thread.

I was one of those women that swore I would ONLY nurse and never feed formula.

But due to circumstances beyond my control... after a couple of months Hannah decided to stop breastfeeding. She stopped eating and stopped gaining weight.... she even started losing weight.

I am ALL for breastfeeding and will try it with our next one again... but IF Beverly suddenly decides she doesn't want to breastfeed anymore (not all babies stop on their own and a lot of babies thrive on it and will never even taste formula) and stops eating all together despite your best efforts... don't be ashamed to feed her formula or just pump for her.

This may not happen with you. She may love breastfeeding and you both will be great at it. I just want to say that sometimes it doesn't work and for the baby's own good some moms start on formula.

DON'T feel guilty if this happens. I REALLY felt A LOT of guilt when i started formula feeding Hannah. I felt like a failure. It was horrible. I don't want you to ever feel that way.

I am not saying this will happen... you may both be very successful. But I just want you to know that it is not something you did wrong if you decide to formula feed.

Sorry again if this is out of place.

As for sitz baths, I don't know if they're still the same as when I had them, but they told me to put Epsom Salts in the bath water. I was also told to try to have the water as warm as I could make it.

That may be totally opposite of what's supposed to be done now!! Things do change. All I know is that those VERY warm epsom salt soaks were wonderful!

I'm not sure if this has been stated already, but... I recommend using lanolin for sore and cracked nipples. It helps A LOT! Dont know what I would have done without it. You can find it at walmart in the baby section where the bottles and breast pumps are.

I was never told to use Epsom salt. I've always wondered if it would help to use it, but just never asked.

I was also told to use REALLY warm water. The warmer, the better. I actually used hot water from the shower head. Worked very well.

You should so be sleeping for those 23 mins!!! Set a timer when you should nurse again.(Wish I would have thought of that for myself *slaps head*) Waiting too long in between is what got me engorged both times, when they didn't wake up for one feeding in the middle of the night I slept through too, bad move. My boobs were like rocks!
