I don't know anyone here, I just kind of wandered in and began talking. People are pretty friendly so it wasn't too hard.

Yep, those two are papillons. I'm currently mom to two papillons and two shelties.

As far as my 'expertise' I'm far from an expert on anything. I do know quite a bit about AKC after working with Trey's breeder years ago (she did conf and agility and rally) and being thrown back into the show world in the past two and a half years with Beau and now Harry. I also know a bit about genetics as it's what I'm studying in college, though I'm still far from knowing as much as many people.

I probably will breed in the future, but for now, I'm just a show dog owner and pet owner who likes to talk dogs.

not a breeder, but i work for a breeder. for the most part i know about breeding as far as collies go. and of course handling, grooming, etc.
there is no doubt in my mind that when the time comes i will breed for conformation.
shelties, and bedlingtons is what i would love to breed now

Oh, I have pics of them somewhere... lemme dig them up too.

That's Nikki

and this is Trey

Nikki is my baby and turns eleven on the 27th and Trey turns 11 on the 4th of July.

It's hard to fit all 4 dogs in a sig. Most forums I'm on have strict size requirements. I tend to rotate sig pics from them- all under 400 x 250. I'll have to spend time making a sig with all of them I think. :)

EDIT: Here they are together:

I have more dog behavior- rescue- showing -judging, handling, running dogs shows , clubs , drives knowledge combined than dog breeding. I did not get into breeding until i was 34.
Started working in rescue at early as age 11-12.
Spent many years working at the ASPCA and North shore and the underground pit bull rail road.
Got my first breeding dog at age 30 and my first horse too.
Dreams do come true..

I have only been breeding 6 years so I still have allot to learn.
Im lucky health issues in regards to new borns, adults older dogs-I dont have .. So I visit forums to learn more...
And in some sad cases to correct WRONG information about my breed & Molossers in general. What affects one breed BSL affects us all.

What I like about this forum vs others is they dont SELL dogs.
They dont promote backyard breeders or mills.
YOU DONT TAKE POLITICS of who is friends with whom over the welfare of the dogs.
If you are a breeder expect to own up why you bred the dogs if you come here.

Chaz rules with that sad Ive closed a few puppymills , closed down a few backyard breeders, exposed many more and stand up for dogs in the face of severe politics of these bad breeders. I sleep well at nite and know I did my best when I go to rainbow bridge one day to meet the dogs Ive saved and loved. I think then we get back our just desserts for all good we do.

Thus you will see me come & go here. Because the word gets out im talking here The people who I have taken on show up & ruin it for many.

Ive done many TV & Cable shows dealing with the very same issues I post too here.. I am writing a book to be published when i retire with other ethical breeders - As a exposure of backyard breeders of rare breeds.
Plus a section how to learn about breeding things you can NOT find in a book or on the net. Ive learned more from good breeders than my Vet,

So if you see me just go pls keep in touch and keep up the good work.

You young people are our future. And with some of the bad apples promoting backyard breeding I was losing faith. Till I came here.

planet molosser - very inspirational, you sound like a wonderful person.

Laurelin - your shelties are so beautiful!! I had one as a child, Fritzi. He looked similar to Trey. Makes me want to cry. I have mentioned before that he died fairly young of heartworms. It was a horrible death and I always encourage others to use the preventatives ALL THE TIME!! Do not take a chance. Back then, they didn't have them. Do your Papillon have a bath, poor baby - very pathetic looking....

Thanks! I too had a sheltie pup die very young when I was a child and it was really hard to go through. Her name was Rosie.

Yeah, Beau got a bath, but what can you expect after you go swimming and then roll in the mud? He hates baths, silly dog.

Bum LOL to a degree I get along with dogs animals and animal lovers,
But some say I can be a real BBBBBBB so I have a b i tch page on my website now..

I can imagine my headstone wonderfull person but can be a B.

Dont mind I wear the B title proudly.
Yet sometimes when i watch Animal planet or go work at the Whiska wagon and watch the unwanted dogs and cats DIE.
I say why bothering to breed..? And to tell the truth I do not have the answer. I take care of my own and I take on the unwanted ones left by others... But it still makes me think which is why I dont breed often.

I am not a breeder, though I have just gotten started in the world of show dogs when I brought home my first show dog a year ago. But I have been training dogs for 8 years and am quite educated. But I always wasn't. I joined my first dog forum when I was a freshman in highschool, and though I already held some knowledge, I had a LOT to learn, and I learned a GREAT deal on that wonderful forum from those incredibly knowledgable people. :)

Do you mind us novice people joining your forum and picking your brains for valuable information?
Well...Whipper Snapper, in my day we didn't have forums and we had to....just kidding glad to have you here.

I have never seen anyone mad at a humane question. Some folks get into trouble if the support dog fighting or if they are a clear cut Back yard breeder, but most questions are answered quickly and completely.

Their are a lot of knowledgeable people on this board so enjoy.

PS I am not a breeder, I just have the two best dogs in the world (at least in my opinion :p )

Of course you can join this forum! And for the record, I would say this forum is made up of more pet owners than anything else. It's a really great balance of people and anyone is welcome. You just have to love dogs. ;)

I currently show dogs and plan on having my first litter this year to aquire my next dog for the ring. However, I still consider all of my dogs family pets above anything else. :)

I don't know that I would consider myself a "dog lover" but I do LOVE MY DOG!! And most importantly, I want to educate myself so that I can take the very best care of him that I can. I am like that with anything that I love. I do feel badly about all the unwanted dogs out there and it makes me angry when I talk to someone who gave up their dog because of issues they couldn't deal with - housetraining, temperment, etc. Would they give up their children as easily? I wonder what these people where thinking when they got the pet? If I didn't know anything else, I understood the commitment I was making and how difficult it was going to be in the beginning. That is why I reached out to this forum.....

Jessie do you have 4h be you? that is a great way to start.
Our 4h club runs a CGC test 3x a year and one dog show plus the NIagara county fair.
If not look up a local UKC club to you they would love if you join the local obedience - comformation or agility club.

I wouldnt call mysef a breeder as such, my dads dad and his dad and grandfather bred longhaired chis and VERY occasioanlly staffybulls back home in the uk, so i learnt from them, i bred my female chi once but she had difficulties and being shes my baby first i opted to spay her during her c-section.

i do plan on breeding Chis and Danes in the future, but im only 22 so am in no rush.

the great thing about MOST on this forum, is it oesnt matter their age or "how much they know" they understand that there will always be things to learn...
youll find this place is pretty much for ANY respoinsbly pet owner that loves their dogs!
