I really love this forum and I have learned so much in the short amount of time I have been on here. But I often get the feeling that most of the users here are breeders, people who show dogs, or people who are extremely knowledgeable about dogs.

Do you mind us novice people joining your forum and picking your brains for valuable information?

I'm not a breeder :) But as you will see the "majority" of breeders on here are of the "reputable and ethical" variety :D However, I have worked in the dog world for 15 years and I am still learning more and more everyday on Chaz ;)

LOL, I'm only 15, and am not a breeder. I wouldn't say I'm extremely knowledgable but I would say I know my stuff.

2 years ago, I knew NOTHING. I've learnt just about everything from this site.

I am happy that we get newbies like you and myself. ONE less person against pits, into ethical breeding, and raising breed ambassaders!

Welcome :D.

I don't breed. Maybe someday, but at this point I'm just your average "pet" person. :)

LOL, it wont take long. You'll start to see familiar faces. Some of us talk through chat/MSN as well. As Darkchild said, the Fire Hydrant is a great place to go if you want to get to know people.

No, I'm not easily spooked but I have seen some VERY NASTY threads between people I think are breeders. Thanks for your welcoming throughts though. I really do enjoy it here as I didn't really know anything when we first got Colt and this really smoothed the road for me and my family. I am a mom with three kids and a hubby and just one dog, Colt, a collie, who *sigh* I did buy from a backyard breeder.

I'm not a breeder either but I've been involved with dogs for at least 18yrs. I've been showing and grooming here and there for the last 10. Most recently I've been some what hard core but mostly in weims and dabble in collies since my inlaws show and raise them. They really started me in the show world and I've been hooked ever since. I work in at a kennel/daycare when I'm not showing or playing softball on the weekends. Currently I'm trying to set aside some time for agility training and competition obedence for Tweeder and possibly Zoe in the future. However due to recent changes with my full time job I have to push some of that off for now. They may be sending me to school soon.

Not a breeder but if I ever come across the right dogs and feel knowledgable enough it wouldnt surprise me if I did breed.

However I do work hand in hand with a variety of breeders and am close friends with even more. Every day I excercise my dog knowledge by helping people in the ""real world"" with their dog behavioural issues as well as helping people on various forums. Every night I talk to at least one or two dog friends of mine from across North America and we literally just talk dogs for upwards of an hour. Everything from comparing breeds to evaluating various dogs we''ve seen to talking about history (where a breed once was and what it is today) and so on. Not to mention the various PMs I get on different boards from people asking me training questions specifically. And when I do find some spare time I sit down with a good dog book to read up on someone else''s training techniques. I may not always agree with them, but you never know where you might learn something! I''ve been working with dogs ever since I was 8 so I like to consider myself dog knowledgable ;)

I''m 18 and I got to know some people on here simply from years of being on the same boards together as well as talking with them over MSN and Yahoo. Others I have met in person.

This is very impressive because many of you seem to be teenagers. I really admire your passion for animals, dogs in particular!! It's so nice to hear this when so many younger people are getting into trouble and stuff!! I just hope you get your schoolwork done!!
