That is sad that you beleive a baby has no rights before the third trimester. I beleive that these babies should have the right to live, they are inocent gifts from god.
ok, what about baby animals aswell, they are probably even more innocent I'de say. what is your opinion on that?

Mrose the egg is always female but the sperm is either male or female (X or Y chromosones). Once the egg is fertilized it can be either male or female. Or both in some rare cases!

"Probably nothing has been as damaging to our cause as to the advance in technology which have allowed pictures of the developing fetus, because people now talk about the fetus in much different terms than they did fifteen years ago. They talk about it as a human being, which is not something I have an easy answer on how to cure."

PRO LIFE ALL THE WAY! I understand where you're coming from but....thats a life and it was her decision to do what she did.....she was too young to make that kind of decision and she should have to put up and suffer the consiquences...And I agree with her to keep the baby, I wish her the best! But also...do you realize how violent abortions can be? It makes me sick just to think about all the ways that they're doing it nowadays! Babies should be welcomed into the world...they are God's gift to us, therefore we're not to kill His gift.

Okay, so I am REALLY late getting to this thread but wanted to add...

I think abortion is a sad part of today's society and completley disagree with it. Too many people these days lack responsibility and integrity. It's all about what they want in their life, what's easiest for them. Society today is all about me, me, me and more about me. It's sick. In my opinion from the moment an egg is fertilized it is a human being end of story. If you don't want the baby then put it up for adoption and do the right thing. With all the Pro Choice statements out there, do you all realize that in those terms, your mother could have aborted you? I wasn't going to mention it yet, but I am pregnant with my first child. 5 weeks after conception I saw my baby's heart beating away on the ultrasound monitor, that's just 5 weeks along!!!!! By now, just weeks later, my baby has all his/her limbs, can suck his/her thumb and can play in utero by pushing off the uterine walls and swimming. To me, there is nothing more unforgiveable then killing the life inside of you. But, I guess that doesn't matter in today's society where everything "happens to people" instead of people recognizing their active part and responsibility in what "happens." For all of you young ones out there, wait until you are married to have sex, know what you want and follow through. Don't kill another being because you messed up.

As far as the rape issue goes, I won't comment because it's not my place and I would never judge someone based on what they did in those types of situations.

I (now) believe that abortion should only be allowed in early pregnancy if rape has been involved, or if the womans health is at risk. I had an abortion when I was 17 years old, and really regret it. Nedim had a thread that asked if I would rather have a million dollars or change a decision that I made that I regreted and I said change a regret. This was the decision that I regret. :( At the time I thought it was my only way out. I had been with my b/f for over a year and the first time we had sex (using a condom), it broke and I got pregnant. He knew it had broke but didn't tell me. Even though I've asked for forgivness and tried to forgive myself, it's still really hard on me. I feel so bad for doing it, and now know that I would have had other options. I just didn't want my parents to find out. They would have freaked. I should have kept my baby.

Awww...thanks so much for saying that Grammy. It's my prayer that someday we'll see eachother. I just look at my two kids now and wonder how I could have made such a bad decision, but like you said, I was only 17. I just love my two kids so much.

Dena, we all have regrets that we wish we could change. Unfortunatley we rarely get a second chance. What is important is what you learned and how much more you value life now. Sometimes all we can do is live with the consequences of a poor decision and try to make better ones in the future based off of what we have learned. There must be a reason second chances don't exist and someday we'll know why.

I've said this before BUT ... I don't believe in abortion per se. It's not right for me. I wouldn't condemn anyone who chose that option. Regardless of how I feel about it I will always believe in our right to chooose even if that = our right to make mistakes.

I've known people who have had an abortion and 10, 15, 20 years later they still think it was the right decision. I've also known women who will regret it until the day they die. So obviously it's right for some people and not others.

Despite precautions I have a friend who has given up a baby for adoption AND had an abortion. She stands by both of those decisions - each one was right for her at that stage in her life. I stand behind her 150% because I know in both cases she made an educated decision. Her reason for having the abortion was that things just felt wrong. She wasn't in the same place mentally as she was when she gave her baby up for adoption. I respect her for that and I respect everyone's right to make that decision.

Actually Saje, in a way I do. I at least wish that it would have been harder for me to do. I just made an appt, my friend took me one morning, and it was done. Some states require you to go through a day of education, and then you have to come back on another date to have the procedure. I wish they at least would have done this.
