Aussie or Heeler Breeders Near NY

I don't really know where I should be asking this.... I was wondering if anyone know some reputable Aussie or Heeler breeders close to NY state? Their new owner is very knowledgable, and looking for a dog suitable to live on a small miniature horse farm-- new owner is fairly ill currently...

    Dog Food Help, Please

I think it was just something in the other food he was on. I'm not sure if it was grains or not, and haven't run an allergy panel as his itching has ceased to exist since the switch. Makes me believe it was grain, but the other food also incorporated "real" meat, and it was before I really...

    Dog Food Help, Please

Wally is currently on TOTW Wetlands formula, he also occasionally gets Pacific Stream for a change of flavor. The only problem is TOTW makes him reek. His breath stinks, he is gassy and it stinks, and overall he just stinks. His poops go from regular to a little runny too. He otherwise is...

Pedigree dogs exposed sequel: 3 years later

I was referring both to the overuse of the same sire, especially those with genetic health problems, as well as the breeding of mothers to their sons, daughters to grandfathers etc. I suppose there should be a measure of how inbred a dog truly is, but I'm not sure. It's quite complicated, and...

    Cost of all things Puppy!

I do limited vaccines too, if I did all of them I could :yikes: I think if your willing to do your own grooming it would definitely be worthwhile to invest in quality grooming equipment. If well cared for and kept after there should be really no need to ever replace them.

How to build muscles in dogs

Give it chance. You need to have your dog eating rather than worrying about looks right now.

    Cost of all things Puppy!

I have no doubt you will be able to do it within that frame (any leftover and I would place in an emergency fund account for your dogs) I would give you an estimate, but because of where I live prices here are quite high compared to everyone else. I easily pay at least $400 a year in...

What kind of local wildlife do you have?

Red tailed hawks. Bluejays. Cardinals. Squirrels. Flying Squirrels. Chipmunks. Rabbits. Woodpeckers. Hummingbirds. Skunks. Raccoons. Vultures. Deer. Deer Poop. (the poop is the most prominent of them all!)

How far is too far when mixing dogs for sports?

This is my thought exactly. I like that your breeding for some type of purpose and if you dog is as great as it gets they whoopie do, bake yourself a pie and eat it all! But without health testing, and heavy screening of temperament/lineage etc. the dog is virtually worthless to me as a...

Your Dogs Name: Why You Chose The Dog Name You Did

Named my dog after my favorite horse at time. They happen to have very similar quirky, but funny personalities. I can't imagine Wally not being a Wally!

Why do we even have breeds

I agree that some dogs are still tested and used for their original purpose. But not nearly enough happen to pass. The fail rate seems to get larger as time goes by.(in a perfect world no dog would fail) I understand needs change, but a dog is meant to do something right? Or at least have some...

Pedigree dogs exposed sequel: 3 years later

Interesting documentary. I just watched it in it's entirety. I really like the idea of the introduction LUA Dalmatians, but failed to realize what the real problems was with introducing them in the first place. All dogs have to come from somewhere, this case a Pointer. They look exactly the...

How soon is too soon to contact a breeder?

Never too early. I have been in contact with a potential ESS breeder for over a year now, and I am still at least, a couple years out from actually getting a puppy, or a younger started adult.

Is your dog more, less or equally as active as you?

Slightly more active, but I am an active person myself and that normally includes the monster to some degree too. He just has these randoms spurts of crazy, and I do not. :) The only difference being I like the land more, and he just goes nutty-bonkers to go swimming. I'm not a huge water fan...

Why do we even have breeds

Breeds are watered-down the breeding of some type of dog for a specific purpose. Through breeding successful dogs in their desired type of work (and now incorporating science) we create a type of natural selection. In which the dog that excels at the work gets bred, and the ones that don't...
