Kill.Him.

Brat dog is a brat. As I said in my picture thread he's gotten off leash privileges when I'm out with him in the field behind my house or other fields to play fetch in or things like that.

Where he does NOT have off leash privileges is my yard which was once again proven why today. Took him out on his long line to work on some recall work there and just some playing. 10 minutes in he gives me his "look" and turns around and takes off full speed around the house (We were in the front) and of course he did that right after his line got tangled up. I had just been about to fix it when he took off so I can't grab the line because it's too short.

So I go running behind the house to follow him and he's no where in sight. I start heading towards the field that' behind my house hoping he will show up, I'm almost to the end of our property when he comes full speed around the neighbor's house, stops, looks at me with a giant crazy happy grin, goes into a play bow and takes off again out of sight.

I get to the field and he comes sprinting out of somewhere and meets me there. I yell across it for him to "down" and he drops into one immediately and holds it till I get there, grab him and bring him home.

So, I get perfect obedience from him OUT OF MY YARD.

Brat dog.

LOL You know I have always laughed a bit at people who say "he does it perfectly at home but when we get out and about he won't listen". My dogs are much better out and about. :p

QUINN AND I WILL TAKE HIM!

LOL, silly Traveler. That down is so handy though, I can't count how many times I've been so glad Quinn has a good down stay when I doubt her recall or don't want her to come to me for whatever reason.

Seriously, one of the most useful things ever. I think I use it more often than any other command.

You would regret that once you had to live with a dog that really doesn't like to ever touch the floor.

I'd say you could send him here but I don't think anyone would ever get any sleep! And trying to keep the muddy pawprints off the furniture, counters, tables stove and ??? would be fighting a losing battle. But they would have a very, very good time!

Titan used to pull that all the time on me. Annoyed me to no end. Classic is such a momma's boy that when he gets a wild hair up his butt and tries to play keep away, I just walk the other way. He gets this baffled look on his face like "Holy crap!? Where are you going??! Don't leave me here!!!" and comes running to me.

I seriously wish I could do that because I think it would work perfectly but he's so car stupid and fast that by the time he figures out I've left him he will have already gotten to a busy street.

Again I say, Brat Dog

Oh exactly. Not a good idea to test that theory next to a road.

If it makes you feel any better, Chloe does the exact same thing. Must just be a brat dog thing. :p

That is one thing Mia's always done naturally well at, stick close by no matter where we are. If you get too far away she goes into sprint mode and sprints as fast as her little legs will go to you, "Don't leave me!'

Now Nard is one of those that is great everywhere but the yard. So I feel for you there.
