    small dogs and barking

I have a toy poodle mixed with something or another, but she's really not too bad about the barking. She'll bark when someone comes into the house but only until she finds out who it was (even if its stranger, just seeing their face makes her stop barking.) She'll also bark if someone is walking...

    Just wondering...

I've seen so many dogs with akc that don't look well bred that it was starting to confuse me (although I really dont have the best eye for that either). And everybody seems to think that akc papers means value. However, where I live in being purebred does mean quality so maybe the emphasis on...

    Just wondering...

I see. Well thats an interesting fact. So you can have an AKC dog without it being necessarily being qualified for showing at an AKC show.

    Just wondering...

Can a white gsd or boxer have AKC papers? Reason for asking is that I'v seen alot of dogs advertised that way but I was under the impression that they couldn't...

    Dog Crazy Parents??

Bella stole my mom's heart. She went from hating having dogs inside the house to not even considering ever throwing her to the back yard. Plus she buys her all these toys and takes her to the pet salon at least once a month. Today she called me (from out of town) and made me put bella on...

    Loved one a byb?

So my ex boyfriend (and still really good friend) just bred his dog. This dog had several health issues when he was younger and has never been health tested at all. It was quite the "let's get him some action, haha." thing. From the litter, he was going to take one puppy (as payment for the stud...

    Walter

I'm glad he found help but I can't understand how someone could allow a dog get to that kind of state.

    Would you clone your dog?

No, what I love about my bella is how unique she is. Besides, two bella's would be a whole lot of money spent on tennis balls that are destroyed way too quickly.

    For those with rescue dogs..

Bella was three months old when I got her and she was born there. She was really quite and calm when she first came home. She would just lay wherever I left her or cuddle into a corner and sleep. She's almost six months now and completely different. She's probably our most playful dog, in...

Never owned a small breed before-need info

Be careful with it jumping from high places, it's hard on their joints and they could really hurt themselves if they fall. And expose them to different things and people so that it doesn't grow up afraid.

Why The Hell *pet store vent*

Where I live, there's a petstore where they'll put that price on a mixed puppy.

    Cropping Ears?

The energy level and the smarts. A dobe could outsmart me so easily as sad as it is to admit that haha. The one we had when we were children was extremely smart. We live behind a golf course that is blocked with a wired fence only. Whenever a golfer was about to hit the ball, blackie (our dobie)...

    Cropping Ears?

That's what I was thinking. But wanted to make sure. Thanks for all the information. I'll try to soak it up as much as I can to pass it on to my brother. (:

    Cropping Ears?

haha so true. What I love about the doberman the most, is their personality. It's really the one dog that has impressed me the most. It's not the breed for me. I couldn't keep up with it. But I'll always be in awe of it.

    Cropping Ears?

Oh, I see. That makes alot of sense, actually. I'll have to ask because I really had no idea. I mean, I knew they had to pass certain tests but not too much else. Thanks for the information. One more question, though, are the doberman's that are bred (responsibly) suppose to be completely...

    Cropping Ears?

I will ask him. I don't know that he'll listen to me or if that would stop him from buying, but it's worth giving him that information anyways. If, lets say, the puppy did get tested for all of that and on some of the tests, like hip dysplasia, he failed would that mean that he won't make a...

    Chi people, some advice please?

Agreed. Bella can play with hers forever. It's the one time she doesn't need us to have fun.

    Cropping Ears?

The guy told my brother that it had to be done between 6 to 12 weeks. He's (the puppy) coming home at the age of 12 weeks. I really have no idea if he's a good one or not. To me, all of that is too complicated. That's why I've never bought a dog. Bella, I adopted. Maybe when I feel a little more...

    Cropping Ears?

Haha, it's taking me a while to understand, but I really do try. So lets say I decided I want to be a breeder (hypothetical. It'll never be my thing.), and I'm really dedicated about improving the breed and all of those things which good breeders do but I don't believe in cropping dogs ears...
