If you saw the shelter you wouldn't be surprised. It was disgusting. And WAY overcrowded.
I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised since I've also never found a shelter where you could just walk in and get a dog that day. I've only ever been to places that require quite a lot of paperwork and background checking and then you have to wait to take the animal home. Oh well, good thing he is out of there!

was anxious to see the updates today--glad to hear he is still doing well. Did he keep his crate clean during the night?

He still marks while in the crate, so the pee just goes out onto the floor. I thought he might, which is why we put the crate in the basement. I'm not sure, but maybe an all plastic crate just big enough for him might help with this?

He is doing much better today, though. He still has his leash on, but I'm not holding him. He laid down on the floor next to my bed and went to sleep instead of running around the room looking for things to mark. Also, he has come back to me every single time I have called him when he started sniffing.

ok--I have a plastic crate that I had used for Baxter--so that should work. I have been trying to figure out where I wanted to put it--so that's helpful info.

Bax- I bet it will be OK. Both Uncle Fred and Mini were unhousebroken when I got them, and they did fine. It didn't even take very long.

thanks Drmom--I am hopeful that we will get it under control--especially after he gets neutered. Especially if he seems to be a boy who wants to please his peoples!!

He's had a bath now and he doesn't smell anymore :D He was well-behaved in the tub. I cleaned his ears after the bath, too.

Middie had this issue too - set up a neuter appt NOW so it will be as soon as possible. Once he gets neutered, the desire to mark will wane and housebreaking will be easy. He sounds a lot better than Middie was, though.
