I found out with both of mine.

I am a planner

I don't really like much of the gender neutral stuff. Not a big fan of pastel green/yellow, etc. I got my big stuff, car seats, swings, etc gender neutral or blue colored which I didn't mind using for a girl too. But as far as clothing, I prefer to buy specific boy or girl clothes.

With first I wanted to decorate nursery, with 2nd I needed to know if kids would be sharing, or if I would be decorating a new nursery.

As far as it not being exciting...I feel like I get 2 REALLY exciting days with my babies than just 1. I get the day of the ultrasound which I get to find out. Then I get the day I get to meet my baby! And it has not made it any less exciting for me.

And as far as ending up with the other sex....I am not too worried about that because I tend to get at least 2 more ultrasounds after the gender one, and I always have them re-check. After you have been told 3 times that you are having a girl, it isn't likely to change.

And with Mason there was NO DOUBT. She was going to check for gender after doing all the other checking, but we didn't have to wait, because he really wanted us to know!

I would find out. My sister didn't want a bunch of gender specific stuff for her baby so she waited until the Baby Shower to announce the gender, but it is REALLY HARD to find gender neutral stuff.
How does that work? If you announce at the baby shower, people bring gender-neutral stuff there, don't they?

Am I just confused? :lol-sign:

I didn't realize people had more than one ultrasound after the gender reveal one. I had one at 12 weeks which was optional and through a non profit (it's a Christian based group and they give early ultrasounds and they use nurses who are just getting into the field. they apparently need 100 ultrasounds or something under their belt before they can go out and work on their own for an office) and then we had the one at 20 weeks or whatever it was where they could tell us if it was a boy or girl. After that they gave me one when I was overdue to make sure all looked good but other than that I didn't have any ultrasounds between 20 weeks and my due date. I didn't know they did more than that unless there was a problem

I did, for practical reasons (mainly taking advantages of all the major sales!)

I do not like stereotypical gender-specific clothes, so I bought Katie clothes in every colors but pink (relatives & friends almost always give her pink stuffs so she has enough of those already!), and exposed her to different types of clothing (not just girly dresses). So, right now, her favorite color is navy blue & her favorite clothe article are pants & tank tops! :)

LOL hannah started out with all neutral clothing and the only time she was ever in a dress was for special occassions....

As soon as she decided she was old enough to pick her own clothes (about 2 years old lol once she was confidently verbal) her favorite thing to wear is dresses and the pinker and frillier the better LOL

funny how kids differ no matter what you pick out for them lol

I think my OB normally has a middle ultrasound around 18-20 weeks and another in the 3rd trimester around 32-34 weeks. There is also an optional 12 week ultrasound if you do the nuchal screening or whatever it is called, which I decline. However I do end up with complications, so I usually end up with at least one other one because I start having contractions early and when that happens they have me go in for an ultrasound the first time to make sure that my cervix is still closed tight.

Oh with Mason I had a ton of ultrasounds, though the first 2 or 3 were too early to see much, but then I had the regular 18 week ultrasound where we found the gender, but then he wanted to see me again in 6 weeks, because he couldn't see the heart well enough. Then I had contractions at 28 weeks, so ended up with another one then, then another one sometime in the 3rd trimester. With Shaylynn I think I only had 3, maybe 4 ultrasounds. This makes me want to get out my photo albums and look at my ultrasound pictures! lol

I have an u/s at every visit... so one every other week in the first trimester, one per month in the second trimester & one every three weeks in the first half of the 3rd trimester, then one per week until delivery time!

My husband and I originally didn't want to find out, but as the ultrasound date got closer, we changed our minds. LOL!

Our reasoning was that, this being our first, the whole labor/delivery process was likely going to be a big, hectic deal. We just figured we'd like to know the gender beforehand, instead of in the midst of all the THIS, and THIS, and THIS OTHER THING, and oh it's a boy, AND THEN THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS.

I will also admit to being a teensy bit impatient and exceedingly curious.

Didn't change our nursery color scheme at all, though. We both loved green, and so that's what we went with regardless of what gender our baby would be. :p

Yeah I would find out when the doctor did.

Actually had this convo with my spouse who said he wouldn't want to know til birth.

I said that's fine, I wouldn't tell him if he didn't want to know :p

I would want to find out and I know i wouldn't be able to keep it a secret. I would want to know because I'm impatient and because it would help me with ideas for baby room, etc.

I would never want to know and besides, who cares about the color of the nursery. Much bigger issues imo.

I had to find out!!! I was actually in tears when I couldn't find out at 16 weeks.

It's such a long wait, you have to plan so much, so I feel like why not find out to make everything easier? But I'm the most obsessive & detailed planner ever... so I can see how more spontaneous people would want to be surprised. I already KNEW he was a boy, I just wanted an ultrasound to make sure. ;)

I can't even fathom waiting! Omg

I didn't want to find out with either. Briggs I let my brother find out at the 3D ultrasound because he actually CAN keep a secret and wanted to get me some special things. Well, they included crotch shots on the DVD so when I went home to see his beautiful face I got little baby junk to the face. I was so sad that my surprise was ruined.

This one has been left a surprise and it's just the way I like it. I'm not even the slightest bit curious anymore. I am looking forward to finding out on the day of delivery.

back when I had Arielle... they didn't tell you the sex of the baby. I had one ultrasound in the beginning of my pregnancy, before the sex could even be determined. So, i had no idea. I kept having a recurring dream that I had a girl and named her "pilgrim" It was so weird... I craved thanksgiving dinner my whole pregnancy and when thanksgiving rolled around, I could hardly eat anything because I felt like a stuffed turkey..lol

I'm not sure why I kept dreaming about naming her pilgrim, but how odd that it coincided with my craving for thanksgiving dinner. My family would just laugh at me. If I had the choice to find out the gender, I would have. I guess I sort of just assumed she was a girl because i kept dreaming she was. We only picked out girl names because the thought of having a boy never entered my head.

If I had the option of knowing the gender, I would have found out. I can't stand surprises. I want to know right then and there. I also like to "plan" for things. I would have wanted to have a gender specific nursery and baby shower. Gender neutral things are okay, but I always think of them as boy things.

We will find out. I am also a planner and must have every little detail.

Our nursery is going to be creams, browns and greens either way but the accents will change depending on the gender. I'm hoping for a girl.

When mom was pregnant with me they couldn't found out the gender. The doctor and various family members told her that I was a boy due to how active I was in the womb. My grandma was the only one sure I was a girl. My parents did a unisex nursery for me and only picked out a boy name. I was breech so my mom had a scheduled C-section, and right before she went in she and my dad hastily came up with a girl's name "just in case."

I don't know if I want to find out or not. We'll see when the time comes I guess.
