I always worry about getting the clerk in trouble. WE are all new at sometime and make beginner mistakes. I also go through my life exhausted most of the time and i seldom notice their mistakes or my mistakes, seldom even see the ringing out...most the time it is a second to close my eyes and try to breathe. I am grateful when a clerk is honest and hands me back if i hand them too much money. IT happens. I Doubt i would notice if they didnt'.

When it comes to change ....it could cost the cashier , so that's different . I was going through my coin jar the other day and found three dollar coins that look like quarters , Have no idea where they came from !

Nope, wouldn't have gone back. Not if I was already out to the car. Their mistake, not mine. I wouldn't feel guilty either. I would have said something if I caught her making the mistake though.

I shop at walmart every two weeks, and usually drop at least a couple hundred bucks. When you live in a small town, and the next store is 50 miles away, you do what ya gotta do. I'm more of a target person myself. Look at how over priced diapers in grocery stores are. No thanks.

Yes I would have (and have) gone back in to make it right. I generally watch them ring everything up pretty closely to be sure they are giving me the sale prices and not ringing up double on things, I am neurotic that way, LOL

The question you need to ask yourself is, would you have gone back in if they had CHARGED you for TWO if you had only gotten one??

That's where the "do unto others" comes in ;)
I agree with this, and see no one answered your question there.

I have gone back in when I noticed I didn't get charged for something or sent the hubby back in actually cuz I had to sit with the car cuz our gigantic Christmas tree box was sticking out the trunk...LOL.

Those of you justifying it because "it's Walmart". Well then why are you shopping there to begin with?

Personally it doesn't matter to me how immoral Walmart is, "I" am NOT Walmart, and "I" am better than Walmart so just because they don't always do the right thing doesn't mean I should not do the right thing towards them.

To answer that question about whether I would go back in if they overcharged me: I never have. If I'm in the store and notice it, I say something. If not, oh well. It's never been more than a few dollars. If either situation were big ticket items, I'd feel differently

If I get over charged and don't notice - it's my poor luck.

I wouldn't go back and demand the rest of my money. That's why they have those "check your change" sign things. Same principle applies.

Yeah, I do that sometimes because I want what I ordered :D Other times, I am just too lazy or the line is too long. The McDonald's near us messes up every single time, though, so I finally spoke to the manager when we ordered 2 bacon egg and cheese biscuits and got one with everything on it AND a piece of sausage and one with no bacon or cheese...what!?

Oh, and one of the Subways we go to...we order the same exact thing every single time and yet the total has never once been the same. I think I am overcharged most of the time, but don't say anything because it's a matter of 50 cents or something. But, one time it seemed too low and I said "shouldn't the total be higher?" and the clerk didn't even check. She just said "no"

I would have said oh well and continued on my merry way.

It was an accidnet... you didn't try to hide them or switch price tags there was no malicious intent it was an honest mistake.

I've been overcharged for small things and don't bother going back for that either.

Typically it happens at the same place as I only shop at a handful of stores so I figure I might loose one time but another time I win.

If I was IN the store and noticed I would have spoke up, if I had walked out without paying for something(i forgot to give it to them) I would have went back, if it was a mom & pop store I would have went back.

If I was in my car with everything put away or at home and it was a chainstore like walmart and it wasn't a case where I forgot to give them item. No I wouldn't. And that applies for me being overcharged too(which has happened to me PLENTY of times). I don't even go back when a drive thru or delivery person Fs my order up. If it was a big ticket Item that's different in both cases(being overcharged and undercharged) and I couldn't live with that. If it was a mom and pop store and I know that the people who own it are the people who work there and they depend on all the little bits of money they make I would only go back in if I was undercharged. If I was overcharged, my fault I should have been paying better attention, will do next time. I figure it all evens out. Hell, I've probably been overcharged more times then I've been undercharged, but I'm usually pretty good about catching things(both sides) at the register.

I think for it to be stealing she would have had to wanted to not get charged, and noticed that she wasn't AT the register and still not said anything. I wouldn't say you stole anything... I would just say life is going on.

I would've gone back. I have no love for WalMart, but, well, it just seems like the right thing to do. (But then I don't shop at WalMart either. ;) )

If it had been more expensive I would have gone back. But because it was cheap, and because its WALMART.. No I wouldn't have gone all the way back in.

BUT if it was from any other store, I'd go back and pay for it.

Some places are bad. My local taco bell gets the order wrong a lot of the time. And only from the drive through. I think they try to hurry too much. I'm willing to wait to get my darn order right. One time we went in and his debit card was not working, but are food was already done. They ended up giving our meal to us for free. That was really nice of them.

^^^HaHa the McD's by me ALWAYS messes up my order. I only said something yesterday bc they totally left something out. I ordered a value meal for me, and a happy meal for a co-worker, and 2 snack wraps bc said co-worker is preggo and I don't think a happy meal is enough for her if she wasn't. So they asked me what to drink with the happy meal and I forgot to ask her!... so I asked what drinks come with a happy meal... then thought about it and get her juice(no way I'm giving her soda... it's not just her health anymore! lol). Anyway, I get my order and they didn't give me the happy meal! it wasn't even on the recipt. I didn't realize it till I pulled out of the drive through when I was checking the big bag so I could put the snack wraps in the happy meal bag... then they tried to say I didn't order one... yes I just randomly decided to order juice... bc a large soda wasn't enough for me????

Would you have gone back in the store once you had already got in your car and was ready to leave? If I would have noticed when I was checking out I would have said something. But I really didn't feel like going back in the store so that I could pay for the other two. Is that extremely dishonest?

What did I get out of this situation? Two free litter boxes..lol
I would definitely go back in to pay for it.

Once I didn't notice the mistake until I already got home. I didn't return to the store right away, but the next time I went, I mentioned it to the cashier and asked to pay for what I owe. She thanked me but didn't take my money :)

I think if the items were not meant to be given for free, someone has to pay for it. That means if I don't pay for the stuffs, then someone else will have to pay for me & that I would owe that person.

If you found a £10 note on the floor (or whatever currency you prefer and can spend ;) ) - what would you do with it?
