My husband say "crick" for the word "creek" that bugs me. I know there are probably lot's of people who say that, but it just bugs me
I've heard it said that way too. I think it's like a regional thing isn't it?

You know how some people refer to their pets as their "furbabies" and "furkids"? I've heard people use this when talking about their actual human children... the "skinbabies" and "skinkids."
I have never heard people refer to their children as skinbabies  but, now that you mention it,the terms furbabies and furkids have always made me cringe. I just have never been able to stand it.

George Bush.
Homeland Security
Patriot Act
Terrorist/Terrorism
"Turrist"
"Nuculer"
Executive Privelege
Presidential Signing Statement
Etc.

It really bugs me when people say and etc. I don't think they realize they're saying, "and and others."

Hella annoys me, Hella is a brand of car headlights, nothing more.

I could go on and on and on, but I'll stop..

One more, and this makes me sad. Unfortunately the word, "Patriotism," and indeed, even the word "American," have taken on dedcidedly political overtones.

Somehow, now, you can only be Patriotic if you're a Republican. You can only be a true American if you're a Republican. This just makes my skin crawl, literally.

Last I checked, one could love the office without loving the one sitting in that office. One can love Country without loving the one currently in charge. There's a lot more to being patriotic and being an American than blindly following our current Administration.

Sorry for the political rant, I'll stop now, I promise.

Not so much anymore. Down here, where you'd think it would be regional, I hear more of the transplants say it - they seem to be under the delusion that it's colloquial and charming and makes them less Yankee to the bornandbred Southerners. Hearing a halfback say things like "crick" and "y'all" . . . .

Wad.
