When someone says akst (not sure how you'd spell it) instead of ask.

And grammy, that word bugs me too.

"Homeland" as in "Homeland Security."

The absolute first thought I had after hearing that phrase was the Nazi/German "Motherland."

I also hate "akst" (not sure how to spell it either). I also really hate "aint" or when people say " I aint got none". *cringe*
Haha I agree. Double negatives annoy me and my mom *always* says things like "I didn't do nothing." AHH. It's I didn't do anything! :lol-sign:

*Rockwilder* supposed to be pronounced ~Rottweiler~ which is a dog :D not a character from the Flinstones..............;)

When I worked with dogs fulltime, I can't tell you how many times it was pronounced like that and the people actually owned one

"irregardless"----that makes me want to lean over and smack the person who said it.
ERRRGGGHHHHHHH . . . . makes me want to do the same thing. And then there is "real-A-tor" and "chimBley." WTF?

Oh, and that dog breed that's indigenous to the southern U.S., the ROCKWILDER

Just because every time it's used you know someone is about to get royally screwed . . .

Proactive. It never was a word till Jack Welch made it up. It's like 'underwhelmed'. I hate that too. Overwhelmed never had an opposite. Can you just be whelmed? Oh and Nucular. That's another one. Suddenly it's acceptable because enough dumb important people say it that way. It's officially a second pronunciation. I have more but I don't want to start festering. Laughing here.

compassionate conservatism
nucular (an educated person ought to be able to say nuclear)
and so on and so forth
god bless (my own god can do it, thanks)
like (for the reasons previously mentioned)
um, you know
I hate the social worky, mid-level manager type mirrored-back speech - "What I heard you say was......now, is that right?" Ugh.
feet (sounds like velvet to me, Ed, and I don't find them pretty or particularly nice to the touch either)
"nice matters" or words to that effect - that are almost always said by some passive aggressive jerk trying to twist the knife in further while smiling all the while...
team player (makes me think "cattle car")

The only word that really gives me the cringe factor is the rather unpleasant C word.. I detest that word. And no, it's not crevice, or cranny, it's the rather foul description for ladies assets to put it almost politely.

That's the word! Funny, for the life of me I can't remember how it's said until I hear it. lol

It's almost in the same way that someone would miss pronounce the word cinnamon to cimamon and then after it's said incorrectly you can't get the right pronunciation right.

Ahhh.. My friend can't say "Skeleton" she always mispronounces it as "Skelington" and it drives me nuts.. I find myself correcting her constantly.
