Frankly to me it depends on the dogs I have. When I had Mike 3 was too many. When I had Wally, Halo, and foster Venus it was pretty easy. I'm hoping that one I can settle Blue into the pack that it'll be pretty easy (I mean he's not DA at all, so I don't see too much of an issue). I have plans to get another pup or two within the next 2 or 3 years, but it will absolutely depend on my job and the house dynamics.

My friend currently has 10 dogs and due to the dynamic and her job each and every one of them gets sufficient training and personal time. I still think she's crazy, but, whatevs ;)

I do . . . when she gets too far out of line either Kharma flattens her or Bimmer chews her out. Cools her little jets in a hurry ;)
I so want to see a video of Kharma beating her about the head one day. The way you describe it always makes me laugh. Like she's the spinny squirrel Hammy on Over the Hedge, and Kharma just THWAPs her when she gets too annoying. LOL

We have 11 (Had 13 until May :(). I think my limit in the future is 5-6. Technically 5 are mine, and 7 are my moms...but we both take care of them. We do have a lot of cats (And foster kittens), but cats are much more independent and when they want attention they tell you. The rodents take up most of my time, with the cage cleanings and out of cage time. But we are doing fine with our 11, and we were doing fine with 13. But we are for sure never adding another dog to our household until we are only down to a few. Losing Zen in May, and Brad on the 1st of this month to liver cancer...I have to go through 11 more of my dogs deaths, and I don't even want to think about that. (Most of my dogs are seniors).

But I definitely think 5-6 will be our limit and will be perfectly fine. We can afford vet visits, and buying them decent food, and all their neccesities plus toys and treats. And all the rodent bedding, food, big cages, lots of cat food, toys and cat trees...so we are financially able to take care of all of our animals. Its the time we don't have. The thing about the cats, you have to live where I live to understand whats going on here. We have a mega overpopulation, one of the worst in the United States...So everyone I know has tons of cats. Its either our homes, or being killed due to no homes available. And actually, I don't personally know anyone who doesn't have ATLEAST 1 cat!

My bottom limit is two - it's so hard to go back to just one after you've had two... the house is lonely and quiet... darn unsettling.

I will ALWAYS have two dobes - and a third while one is entering their final stages (to put it delicately). I think I'd be heartbroken to suddenly just have one - and having only one dobe to help me though a loss like that isn't fair to the dog... that kind of burden should be shared. And to me, there's nothing more comforting than the unwavering loyalty and steady presence of a Doberman.

We'll also always have one corgi.

Soooo... the limit on dogs is three, with adjustments made at critical points in time. Also, there will always be room in our home (once we get a home of our own, that is) for "emergency family members". For instance, if a friend or family member dies and their dog has nowhere to go, we'll take them in without question. I sometimes wonder this, like with my great aunt in her 80's with her corgi mix, or sadly Ronin/Ilsa's breeder as she'll eventually get older ( ;) ) - whenever they may go, I'd feel wrong if I didn't help pick up the pieces.

And the snakes... well, there will always be room for more snakes. Once I get a rack system into place when I get my house, there will be more snakes added, with a few tubs always open for those poor craigslist finds, or the neglected ones in need of a good home. I'm hooked on these little pythons, they've got my heart in their coils... :)

My limit is the 5 we have now. They all have different personalities, and some don't demand as much attention as the rest, but you know they still want it. We can spend a little time with each dog now, but when I wanted to adopt a Doberman last month, my wife pointed out to me that it wouldn't be fair to that dog, or the ones we already have. As it is, the 4 min pins sleep on top of us, or tight to us, and the big bad Rottie sleeps at the foot of the bed, and the minute my wife or I get out of bed in the middle of the night for whatever reason, he's up in the bed (feels he has room without two humans in bed.) Anyway, even with the crew we have now, I sometimes feel guilty that somebody is being neglected, and if we added another dog, someone would definitely be neglected, and it's not fair to that dog or any of the ones we already have.

At the moment, I think 3 would be a good number... I like having 2, but I could definitely accomodate a third! : D

In the future, my limit will probably be 4-5, depending on what breeds I have and my living/working situation. I would like to have 10 Corgis. Weell, maybe not 10, but a nice flock of them. And at least 1 Border Collie, of course!

I'm at my limit now! I have 8. I have almost always had 5 dogs at a time but my last 3 fosters turned into residents ,lol.
My husband is a very patient man!

Well, my parents always said they wouldn't have anymore dogs after Lizzie ;)

I, personally, have two dogs. I could definitely see myself with 3 sometime after school. My limit really depends on what career I choose. I'd love to have a kennel full of Border Collies. :p

Probably around 4-5 dogs.

I thought two was a good number and I was over it with having Harv. Now that Harv is gone, my house and my life feel so empty.

My personal limit is 2 dogs. That's all I have time to train & take to obedience classes. I've had an occasional foster or dog in for some training help but that's it for me.

I'm not sure. I think my limit has more to do with total pets, than just dogs.

Right now with two cats and one dog in a small apartment, I feel like we're at our limit. We have plans for a second dog in the future, but would limit ourselves to just one cat after Nya passes.

Who says cats are independant! Mine are the most attention demanding creatures on the planet. Sierra is happy to just lay at my side and the cats are "mrow mrow mrow mrow mrow" walking all over my lap for more attention/toys/food etc.

I think 3 dogs, possibly 4. My current dogs would have to be mostly trained before we could think about adding another. Koda is not even 4 months old so we won't be adding another dog for a long time. Ideally, I'd like to get another dog when Koda is 3-6 years old because Lucy will be 10-13 (as best as we can guess since we got her when she was "3" but she was a stray so who can really tell). Lucy is such a great dog, a really good role model for dogs so I'd like her to have some positive influence on our next pup. Although I will say our next dog will be minimum 6 months, no more puppies for me. I love Koda but puppies aren't for me. If I could have it my way I'd get our GSD when Koda is 3 and another Newf when Koda is 6 but my husband says 2 dogs is plenty so I don't know how I'd be able to have 4. We have one cat and I'd like to have another but that won't happen anytime soon. I think it depends on how much time you have to adequately spend with each animal. Right now I have my hands full with Koda, a 3 year old human, and a 17 year old human.

I am only allowed two dogs in the house I'm renting, Regis and my future Newf. If I was in my own home I'd probably put myself on a waiting list for another Cardigan as well.. But that is going to be about a year or two from now..*wishes*
