I don't do fancy collars. I thought about it then realized you can't see them anyways. There's not really a point. The most expensive one I have is $25.

Ive gotten collars for 75-100 for our dogs. I put under $250. I just like good quality leather collars, if it's really really awesome leather, I'm willing to pay the price for the quality.
Trent says please adopt him please please please. :lol-sign:

A year ago I would have said < $20 - $25 because while I appreciated a well made collar, I had no interest in buying anything "fancy" when a simple one from Petsmart worked just fine for us.

Then I got my first well made (cloth) collar and am itching for a nice leather. Now I am looking at conchos and drawing up ideas, even. I think I would pay around $50, hopefully not too much more. A matter of affordability right now, I love shoes as much as any girl but I've never spent more than $50 on a pair of shoes, either, and I've got quite the collection built up.

I put <$50. I think I should be able to find what I like for under that, considering I like simple/plain collars with good leather/hardware. Not a lot of tooling, etc. People who are willing to spend more -- good for you, post lots of pics so I can admire ;). Collars just don't have my spending priority.

Also the majority of my collars have plastic quick buckles. I've never had a problem. Like Dekka I check them when I buy them and I monitor them for brittleness. A good plastic buckle should be able to take the impact of most dogs hitting it hard without a problem.

Most I've ever spent on a collar was 12 and that included tax. But with out tax $10.00 would be the limit. Ivans most used collar is one he got from his breeder as a puppy. I love those collars and they are fairly inexpensive. Not to mention they come in a wide variety of colors and matching leads of varying lengths. I've bought one "fancy" collar on him and he never wears it.

My dogs almost never wear collars anymore, they are either at home on the farm or with Jeff at the shop and there is really no need...

I have a couple of nice leather collars I bought years ago when travelling to trials that I still use when needed, they are soft and supple but plain.. I honestly can't remember what I paid for them? Lucy came with a harness which is a first for me, but it seems to work for her.... She can't be off leash yet as that inspires her to play hard to get... Foster wears a nice cloth collar when he is off on his travels with Jonah who really owns him..

I guess I'd pay up to $50 depending on quality, but collars are more functional to me, do any decent, quality collar works for me

I wouldn't spend over $30. They don't care what it looks like and I sure don't. As long as it will hold and isn't uncomfortable for the pup, I personally can't see worrying about anything more expensive. I know some people have fun with them, but it's just not my thing. ;)

I'm not really into collars much...the most I'd ever pay for a normal collar would be about $30. I would probably go up to $50 if it was a really nice leather one. Missy and Jack just have plain, cheap (around $10-15) collars that I've gotten from work.

Leashes, however...I would probably pay up to $100 for a really nice, heavy duty, strong leather leash. I'm still on a search for the perfect one.

I'd say less than $75. I don't need a super fancy collar for my dog who can't wear a collar much larger than 1" and typically needs a double leather one in order for it to show through her fur.

I'm not as concerned with collars as I am with harnesses, vests, boots and leads. I think priorities change a little when a dog is a service dog, though.

I would pay over $100 for a nice leather head halter custom-made for my dog, thoughl.

I picked less than $75 as I think $40 or $50 is more than enough for a quality collar (talking like nice leather, etc). I'd probably pay up to $60 for a LIFETIME collar like a leather collar from Ella's Lead but nothing much more than that.

Frodo wore a paco collar around for a while tonight, it would definitely attract more bitches than he already does, lol.

Most I have ever spent on a collar was the $60 on Lily's "For Ella". I like Scout's customized "Gertrude's Son" a LOT better, just because of d-ring placment and the different buckle that I got and the fact that there is no suede to get icky. Scout's was like $53 after shipping because I took advantage of a sale.

That said, they wear their Stillwater nylon collars a LOT. They worked out to about $6 each because I ordered a bunch at one time.

I find it kind of ironic that Lily is wearing a $6 collar today with a thirty something Fetching Tag clipped to it by a $7 Rubit tag clip. She hasn't lost or trashed her tags since I got them though, so I feel like it was worth the large price.

I think after the nylon collars die, I will probably get a tufflex collar from gundogsupply... for like $10. Its just easier to clean. However these nylon ones are going to last a really long time... they may be around for the dogs whole lives. I like having some fancy doggie bling, but yeah majority of our lives take place in mud, water, and cow poo so it'd be stupid to pay Paco's ridiculous prices. I'm sorry I do think their pricing is ludacris. Its grand if you've got the cash, but I don't and likely never will.

Ever since Rileys plastic buckle petsmart collar broke as a puppy, I have been super picky about my collars.

Probably around $30ish, because rolled collars just aren't that expensive and I dont' see the point in paying oodles of money for something I can't see and honestly don't use all that often.

I'd rather save my money for classes/events/donations to rescues, things of that nature.

I thought I would only spend up to $30, but this weekend I bought two collars for the same dog--one was a leather collar decorated with metal shotgun shell pieces and and engraved tag installed on the collar and the other was a cloth Celtic design collar--one $30 and one $34. I blame Chaz for these purchases.....
