I put less then 75$. I like to change collars too much to spend a boat load on just one. I do like an appreciate good collars though, so maybe in the future I will spend more. Plus with poodles, he can only wear nice big collars when he has short hair. If I want to let the hair grow, he cant wear them so I dont get as much use out of them.

Rory has 2 $90 collars, but I spent a little less than that on them (sales and free shipping). For Rory, I'd never get him a hand tooled collar- he's WAY too rough on his stuff and would totally mess it up! I'd consider something custom, but like Leah said- the expense would come from the hardware rather than the labor of hand tooling.

The most I'd spend on a daily collar for the chihuahuas would be $80. Chloe has her 'special' collar for Dia de los Muertos which was $100- not a daily use collar, but she'll wear it for the whole month of October. I'm considering hand tooled for one of them (probably Chloe), which will still end up at under $200 for what I want.

Add tags, though, and the costs go way up! I just spent $50 on a Fat Brass tag for Rory to match his new collar. I never thought I'd spend that much on a tag!

Up to $100. If I have the money, why not... I'd like a nice collar that can hold up to the wear and tear. My current cheapies are just kind of gross looking and even my $50 leather collar has pieces falling off. I'd be comfortable spending money on something that I know is well made and will last.

Note--this is only for Juno though, who does go out and about a lot. Lucy, who just goes to the groomer and gets the occasional walk, doesn't need more than a cheap one from Target.

I'm totally ruined. I used to think that I would never spend that much for a collar or a tag. I won a contest for my first Paco. Now I can't imagine them having anything else.

I've been ruined since I ordered my first Paco. Now I won't even put my dogs in fabric/ribbon collars. It's terrible. Every other leather collar has been sitting in a box untouched since then.

I said no more than $50 because 1. I have 4 dogs, and 2. I like switching collars out way too much! That being said, if I have a special occasion/reason I might consider more for something super special.

Less than $100.
and I would only spend that much on ONE MAIN COLLAR. It would have to be..

A) A collar that I use a lot (almost every day)
B) It would have to be long lasting/Quality leather
C) Be able to withstand dirt/water/mud etc..
D) Be pleasant to look at
E) Be useful/sturdy (D ring for tags, ring for leash, etc..)
F) Age well
G) Be Guaranteed by whomever I bought it from (for defects, problems etc..)

For pretty fun occasional collars.. my top price is about $40.
By that I mean Nylon, Bowed, Bedazelled collars I pull out for fun occasions..

I like nice collars, nice wide leather with engravings or metalwork is just gorgeous. I'd be willing to spend up to, maybe, $50/60. I really want to learn to make my own though. Not to sell, just to have, because I doubt I'd get good enough to sell anything.

Fajitas sound good though.

Same here. I had fabric collars before, but now after ordering my Ella's Lead leather and vegan I can't imagine having any other type of collar other than quality leather or vegan.

I'm not sure.

I would be willing to spend i guess up to $100 but I'm not sure i actually would if that makes sense. I have yet to see anything i think is worth that much maybe.
That's kind of how I feel, too. $100 would be my mental limit but I haven't actually ever spent that much on one. And it's a bit of a soft limit... if one I was in love with was, say $105, I would probably still get it.

I totally wouldn't really care if Jackson was mostly at home, or whatever. But really, Jackson goes almost everywhere with me, lol. We go to peoples homes a lot to visit (family and friends), we try to hit up downtown Annapolis once a month or so, we go to the dog park twice a week or so, dog events, pet stores, he's basically always out and about with me, so I really like to have him all looking studly. LOL.

It's just me more than anything too though. I love browsing to see new ones online, etc. I guess it's a collecting thing maybe for me. I don't really splurge on alot of things, but for collars, I make an exception. Can't really explain why, haha!

I will say though, lately, I've turned into wanting just two or three good nylon collars rotate between, one or two nice leathers, and keeping it at that. Hence why I've kind of tried selling some stuff that's not used much. But then, I have a huge problem with going into dollar bins at Target, and such, and finding collars and being like "but it's only $1!!!11!!" LOL!! Then I have this collection of collars, that I don't do much with, but also feel bad throwing away, but they're not worth selling since it was only a buck. Mehhh. It's a problem, I tell ya.

I couldn't spend more than $75. Even if I had the money to do so I just couldn't justify it. I got Gavroche's for under $50 and it's everything I ever wanted in a collar and more.

That said, the type of collar has an impact too. Gavroche's is a heavy-duty, blinged-out, wear 24/7 collar. I fell safe walking him on it even around cats. He wears it all the time with a Boomerang tag on it. I'm willing to spend more on that than just a tag collar, for example. My limit for Logan's tag collar is closer to $30. He'll only wear it when we're out and about or he's out in the yard, it's thin and light, and not blingy (though I'm sure it will be gorgeous). I'm not going to use it for walking or working, it will be purely a tag collar.

Material also matters. I will not pay more than $15-$20 for a fabric/ribbon collar ever again unless it's SPECTACULAR. For example at the moment if I could find a collar maker I liked that has a TARDIS fabric with a martingale option, I just might buy one for $25-$30 :rofl1: But after spending as much as I did on the ribbon martingales I got my guys last Christmas, and not really being happy with them (for various reasons), I just don't see myself buying non-leather collars anymore. A GOOD leather collar I'm willing to pay more for (but still not more than $60-$75 TOPS). For a cheapo leather collar (like I got my dogs over the summer when I was dogsitting with my phone number on them) I might pay around $10ish.

Leashes I'm actually more stingy on than collars. More than $30 is WAYYYYYY too much for a leash. I can get my dream leash for under $25 (sometimes under $15), why would I want to spend more on a leash that may or may not be what I'm looking for?

Nog's collar would have been around $150, I think. It's tooled leather with a custom design. But, I bartered for it, so it didn't actually cost me anything. :)

I don't think I'd spend over $75. I think my most expensive collar has been around $60 (from Ella's Lead) and I'm comfortable at that price, but would be willing to go a little higher for something very custom and with a lot of meaning to me. I have a very special collar idea in mind that if I order will be absolutely through Ella's Lead, and I would be comfortable spending around $75 for it but not much more.

Eta: the above is my limit for leather collars. If I were to get another fabric collar (which truthfully I don't see myself doing in the near future - they have their uses but I prefer leather and I'm happy with the fabric ones I already own) my limit would be about $30-$35 tops

Uh, if I had the funds, and fell in love with a collar, probably a lot. Like a lot, a lot.

I am totally sold on getting Frodo a Paco collar now that I've actually seen/held one in person. Now it's just a matter of picking the right one. I'm semi-sold on The Patrick, but not 100% yet. I may just sit on the money until they come out with one that I fall in love with, or until I come up with a design of my own and pay them to make it.

But the plan is also for whatever collar I decide on to be his everyday collar for a long long long time. Right now I piddle around and get a couple $30 collars every year, but I get bored of them and I want a nice leather, last forever collar now. If I added up all the nylon and fabric collars that I've paid for over the years, I'm sure it would be like 10 times what I will pay for that ONE COLLAR that I will be buying.

It depends on the collar. If I had a short haired (smooth haired) dog, I'd be willing to shell out in the $50-$75 range for a nice leather collar.

For a typical run of the mill collar? Maybe $15. That's how much I spent on Chloe's, but it also has a lifetime warranty.

I chose under $50. I'd spend around $40 on a leather collar. The collar he has now was $10. I really feel no need to get another.
