It's a bit odd to see dogs from one or two kennels and assume that "show mals look so different". There is really not one "show type" in Mals the way there is in say Labs, were show Labs all tend to look a certain way no matter where they are from.
I've seen Mals at a lot of shows, not just Westminster (I keep typing "Webster"...I get that We--- and habit takes over...) so while I agree that there is variation, there does seem to be a different movement to a lot of the show dogs relative to the...well, performance types, for lack of a better term. And the heads seem to be on average more collie like, whereas a lot of the Sch dogs have more of a wedge shaped head, relatively. Not to say there isn't overlap.

In any case, why are there essentially only two kennels represented for the Mals at Westminster? Seems odd.

Could you post a photo of the gsd?
Here's a movement shot of him from Eukanuba

Also, I'll always take black Belgian porn...
:)

Here's his page on his breeder's site:

I didn't think there was much collie-ish about the WKC BOB winner's head. FWIW There's a number of Mal breeders who consistently produce outstanding sport dogs and show dogs.

It's not really all that odd when you consider there's not all that many Mals shown and even fewer campaigned. There were I think 13 or so entered and most were from one of two bigger name breeders. The rest were from a variety of mostly smaller breeders. One of the AOMs is a pretty accomplished dog who's titles include HSAds HIAs MX MXJ XF

Here's another of the GSD:

Honestly, considering the ones I've seen at other shows, he wasn't *that* bad.

However, I like the bitch that won BOS better!

Some of those GSDs were terrible. And I hated the front ends as well as the rears on almost every single one. The most moderate GSD there I don't think got put up, but the one who won wasn't as bad as he could have been in the grand scheme of things. :p

I for some reason really liked the way the Saint Bernard looked. I had to "LOL" about the Miniature Schnauzer being from China.

Another small dog wins at Westminster. Is anyone else not surprised? I swear it seems like it's always the small dogs that win at that show.

Last year a Scottish Deerhound won...

ETA: Whoops, posted at the same time as Mer, LOL.
Sometimes I wish this forum had one of those "somebody has posted while you were posting!" thingies.

He's a VERY sexy boy. They are an amazing breed. Second runner up for the breeds I want to own. You should look more into them.

You should talk to Mary- Blackshadowcanecorso. She is on here once in a while. She is a great help.

The female that won BOB was a formentino from Liberty Cane Corso. Her and Oak share some of the same pedigree :)

Any you are right Oak is a sexy boy! Even better in person if you can get out to meet him!
