Basically I like all dogs that are nice well behaved/trained dogs regardless of size or breed.
I prefer working dogs that do the job that they were bred for and love seeing them do that job well. Whether it be a herding breed, a working terrier or a sled dog etc.
Of course I love JRT's, BUT I can't stand Jrts that are the rotten, snappy, aggressive and just plainly very poor examples of my breed (sadly those seem to be EVERYWHERE. Hell I have known too many that way, I know several that are National Champions in Conformation, also proven Working dogs and they are idiots and hyper!!!! Nope not what I want nor will breed from etc. If ya can't live with it....................???
And regardless of breed, I also can't stand a dog so stupid it can't find the front door or know if anyone is home or not.
I have met awesome examples and poor examples of countless breeds, I try not to judge a breed by a few poor ones that I have met. And appreciate those awesome examples when I do meet them.
And I try to look past to the true dog (although that can be so hard to see often) when a dog has been raised and trained by the ignorant or stupid.

My list of favs:
Jrts
Border Collies
Shiba's
Aussie's
Tollers
Mal's
Sled dogs

What's with all the small breed hate? LOL For the most part small breeds are all I am interested in as I want to be able to easily transport, pick up, clean up after ect.
hate? i was actually quite impressed at how varied most people's lists are [big, little, etc]! haha.

I don't really dislike any dog breeds but I can't easily picture myself with wirecoated terriers like the Cesky Terrier, Dandie Dinmont Terrier, Westie, Skye Terrier, Scottish Terrier, Sealyham Terrier, Bedlington Terrier, and others in that group. Though I like meeting well behaved dogs of those breeds.
whenever sylvie starts misbehaving, i just blame it on the dandie dinmont in her. crazy hunting dog! hahaha.

I don't hate small dogs, some small dogs are great! I prefer medium for myself.
To say least favorite does not meant I would never own such a dog, because dogs are all individual.
Remember this is a personal preference thing, what dog will fit most into ones life, not what is necessarily the best breed overall.

Least Favorites:

Anything that yaps
So, any size of poodle, shelties, either kind of Collie, most Beagles (mine, who I love is surprisingle quiet), Min Pins, etc. If it yaps, I will admire it from afar, but I don't want it in my house (I might make an exception in certain cases and wear earplugs or something!) My Coonhound, with his foghorn has the perfect voice. When he gets going, he even does tremolo.

This is a really interesting thread!! :hail:

I'd always had big dogs when I was younger - my Lhasa is my first small one, and I have to say she opened up a whole new world for me. And, yes, transportability is a HUGE factor for me, especially since I'm not as young & strong as I used to be. And she *knows* she was born to sit on my left thigh when we're driving the car - can't do that with a big dog. ;) She's also not a yapper, biter, or aggressive; she's a real little lady and is wonderful with both cats & dogs of all sizes, as long as they're well-behaved.

My Fav's -
Rottweilers - never met one I didn't like
German Shepherds - for their integrity
Dobermans - for their intelligence & grace
Malamutes
Yorkies
Papillons
Maltese
Irish Setters
Havanese
Tibetan Terriers

Least Fav's -
Pit bulls - sorry, too many bad owners (including my nephew) & too unpredictable
Labs - great dogs, but WAYYYYY too much energy, for too long, for me
Beagles
Bichons
Most terriers
Bulldogs & Boxers
Chinese Pugs
Chihuahuas

This is tough, really hard to narrow down to just 10.

1.) Japanese Akita Inu: My breed, wonderful companions, smart, elegant and beautiful. Almost born housebroken, quiet as church mice. Very affectionatde but not sticky. Wonderful.

2.) Shikoku Inu: A little smaller and more "rustic" than a Akita. Beutiful and enchantic all the same. Awesome little mountain dogs.

3.) South Russian Ovcharka: Love the shaggy faced look. Beautiful, the attitude of a Caucasian with an even better more consistant look. Love them.

4.) Samoyed: Beautful spitz breed. Very loving an affectionate to boot.

5.) Pug: The snort, they fart, they lick. Big molosser in a small package.

6.) Japanese Chin: The Kabuki Samurai of toys.

7.) Tosa: Especially in jet black. My favorite of the big molossers. Everything I love about OEM's with a Japanese flavor.

8.) Poodle: The most versatile breed on Earth.

9.) Dobermann: Kind of the German breeds. Wonderful guard dog, elegant and strong.

10.) Bulldog: Love the attitude and human expression.

Least favorite:

1.) Bandog: pure BS, what the hell?
2.) Any designer "breed": Just what the world needs, mega buck mutts.
3.) JRT's : Everyone i have ever seen has been just a pure a$$hole.
4.) Estrella Moutain Dog: I really don't know much about them other than they are as ugly as hell.
5.) The various "APBT" varients. Cane Corso, Canario whatever. The perfect answer to a question no one asked.

Favorite :

Central Asian Shepherd dogs the dog of legends natural protectors great family guardians.

Collies Grew up on Lassie.

GSDS Miss Rin Tin Tin great all round worker.

Basset First dog I got age 3 years old.

Fila after spending one week with them they are wonderfull faithfull dogs.

Fila SAO great cattle dog very natural protector.

DDBX Just fell in love with Turner in Hooch. OPPS

American Bulldogs remind me of the Little Rascals and very intelligent dogs.

Thai Ridgeback so unique and great normal size dogs that do well in hot weather.

10 are for all the rescues ive done in shelters from unknown heritage they are all the best.

I dont have least favorite breeds but dont like high maintence dogs, dogs too small, or dogs with short life spans.
I do have some rare molossers I would NEVER own due to the dog politics in that breed where least favorite people are there vs breeds.

#1 Jack Russells Of course..but NOT the right dog for everyone. (they should be stable though, drivey independent and fearless)
the rest in no particular order
Basenjis Cool dogs!
Border Collies Always wanted one but as a kid my dad said they looked like mutts (so he got me a mutt, go figure)
Long haired whippet I like the non naked version
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Have to be the happiest cutest things ever!
Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers well actually these would probably be #2. Awesome dogs and I am not normally a fan of retrievers. Not as goofy and do not love EVERYONE the way many retrievers do. And smaller.
Australian ShepardMet many I really liked
ACD not a fan of the look, but man they are some smart dogs. (and gotta love that attitude)
Staffies drivey fun dogs.
Dalmation great dogs if you can handle the shedding.

I seem to love easy to groom drivey athletic dogs..

As for least faves.
Any dogs that have/need -High grooming requirments.
-loves every human they see to the point of
distraction
-no drive
-Yappy (and no JRTs are not yappy)

Well, I'm completely offended by this thread. Ten freaking pages and not a soul (that I noticed) mentioned my Wheaten Terrier. I can accept that it's no one's favorite, but you'd think that someone could at least step up and hate it?

Harrumph. We're taking our ball and going home. There's nothing worse than being ignored.
