I think it would be more difficult to be a working mother, personally. Not only do you have to go to work all day, but then you'd have to come home and take care of everything around the house AND the child. As a stay at home mom, at least you have a longer amount of time to get everything done.
A working mom definitely has it hard, but see nobody ever disputes that fact. Nobody ever says "Oh, you work 40 hours and take care of the house & kids? MUST BE NICE!" :rofl1:

The issue with being a SAHM is that the majority of people think if you don't punch a clock (so to speak) you have it easy. In some ways SAHMs have it easier, and some ways it's much harder. Working moms get that break away from the kids and house that SAHMs don't. Grown up time is a valuable commodity for SAHMs, the same as quality child time is to working moms.

No matter what choice you make, you are going to gain some things and lose somethings..........you have to weigh out what is most important to you and your family.

I would never have wanted a nanny, a house keeper would have been nice but I would really really have loved to have a cook. I always hated cooking dinner, still do.
When my kids were little, it was easy staying home, I didn't think things got hard until they got into organized sports and I had 3 kids going in 3 different directions right at dinner time. Those days, my life was so hectic. My husband didn't get home til after dinner and he had business trips here and there. So the kids and I would eat a quick dinner, run out to whatever games they had and those were usually at different fields so I was driving back and forth. Then we would come home and they all needed baths/showers. I sometimes miss those days, other times I wonder how I did it. I can't imagine doing that with 3 kids and working an 8-10 hour shift on top of that.

People need to find what works for them not others. I am happiest being a sahm. I could not imagine hiring a housekeeper or nanny because I view that as my job and it gives ME a sense of fulfilment in tending to our home and family.

I am blessed that we are in a position where I can be home. Sure a lot of sacrifices had to be made and I would be lying if I said it was easy and it is nothing like how I envisioned my life being but it is better a million times over and I would not trade it for anything in the world.
