From what I understand, Penny (short for Penelope) was a rescue from their local pound and she was pretty well emmaciated when she came in, so 46 pounds is actually quite large compared to last year when they got her. FWIW, I think she looks quite healthy - neither fat nor skinny. And boy, what a jumper. She may be able to outjump Xena, who has been known to get her tongue up my nose without even trying (her from a sitting position to a leap and me standing fully upright).

If it has 2 blue eyes its a husky ( No lie the shelter here had 2 sibling pit bulls, but since they had blue eyes they labled them as HUSKY mixes. )

If it has one blue eye and one brown eye its a husky.

If its a blue brindle Am Staff it is mixed with AKita ( I had some guy argue and say my dog WAS mixed with AKita and I didn't know what I was talking about when I promised him it was not a mix, The "akita mix" in question can be seem above in my avatar or below in my sig lol )

At one of the local shelters, we had 2 brother dogs-- They were Husky/Pit mixes. One looked almost pure husky, the other looked almost pure pit bull-- except with a blue eye. I'm telling you, I wouldn't have ever guessed husky for that dog. The only thing anyone could have guessed in that dog is Pit.

I know someone who breeds and shows Collies.
A few years ago a neighborhood lab got loose and managed to impregnate one of her Collies. She sold the resulting pups for $200 and then refunded the money of proof of spay/neuter. Now she says (jokingly) she could probably have sold the resulting Cobradors for 1500.00 each or something. She still keeps track of them, one was a traffic fatality, the rest are doing fine.

I think I'll try Cobrador on that dogbreedinfo site....maybe they're on there.

I just fostered a Bassador.

I named him Napoleon! He was the most unique dog I've ever fostered. But he was Unique because he was a Rescued Mutt, not because he was probably a Designer dog. Anyone can buy a designer dog

If it's a min pin, it's a Doberman puppy.

If it has husky-like markings, it's definitely a husky.

If it looks like a wolf, it is part wolf.

If it's stocky, broad-headed, prick-eared and curl-tailed, it's an Akita.

These apply to dogs I've had - a Min Pin named Penny, a Malamute that everyone, even the first owners, called a Husky, a Border Collie/Malamute/Husky/Whatever else mix that looked like a wolf with blue eyes, and Padfoot himself is mistaken for an Akita.

1) If it has a broad head and a short muzzle, its a pitbull
2) If its brindle, it's a pit bull
3) If its black and tan, its a 'Rockwilder'
4) If it has a short coat and doesn't have floppy ears, its a pit bull
5) All dogs weigh two to four times what is physically possible considering their appearent volume, so make sure you double to quadruple their weight. For example, pit bulls,
despite all evidence to the contrary, actually weigh over 100 lbs.
6) If its white and fluffy, its a poodle
7) If its brown and has prick ears, its a German Shepherd
8) If its any other color and has prick ears, its a wolf
9) If it has long, pretty yellow fur, its a golden retriever, and you should feel free to walk up to it without warning and pound it on the head
10) It is brown and white, shaggy and has a long pointy nose, its Lassie, and you should throw your kids in the well so she can rescue them . . .

I'm sure you all can add more . . .
All heavily muscled dogs are Pit Mixes...

This list sounds like our local dog Warden wrote it. He's a doofus.

*corgi informs her corgis that they are in fact wolves, as has been pointed out several times by people on the street.

If it's a mixed breed, it's a Lab and/or Shepherd mix.
yup, i was gonna say that.

and as for the malinois -- i had quite the debate with someone once who kept insisting that he was a "police dog", and saying it as if "police dog" was a breed of its own.

also, if it is under 20 inches as an adult, regardless of what you tell people its age is, they will still ask how much bigger the dog will get.
