Am I wierd or something? I would NEVER go to a female gyno. I would feel very uncomfortable about a woman being in the room.
It really doesn't matter to me whether it's a male or female. I just chose the nearest clinic when I was pregnant and she's the only one in the practice

I think it's just awkward FULL STOP.. Be it a man or a woman.. I'm not bothered who does it, as long as I can get out of there as quickly as is humanly possible.. ;)

Just coming back to here for a second, why don't you get them dyed? I have red hair but its darkened with age and I have big patches of black in it constantly so its pretty dark but I still got the red eyelashes and very light red-blonde eyebrows.
I pay about $25-$35 every 6-8 weeks to get my eyelashes tinted black (I wear all black makeup and have long lashes so doing them with mascara everyday kinda looks like overkill and gets messy) and my brows waxed and dyed. I can't stand them being light.
That might be worth trying. But they are kinda thin as well.

Mine too. I've got very sparse eyebrows and tinting made them appear much thicker. I think it's because it tinted all the really light hairs that never really showed before. I haven't since got it done though because oddly enough I find penciling them in for 30 seconds a day is much better for me.

Yeah I have a female doctor. I always go to the gyno alone and have never thought about the fact that it's just me and the doctor alone.
Same here.
I had a male doctor but it was soooo uncomfortable that halfway threw my 2nd pap I asked to get a female.

I'm bringing this thread back up because I was thinking about tatoos, and searched it. :)

I plan on getting a tatoo down my right side (rib area) and a series of tatoos (sleeve) down my left or right arm.

Do tatooers usually I.D.? I plan on getting one when I'm 16, without parental consent. My sister got one when she was 16 with her friend, and they didn't I.D. her. I plan on getting tatoos from then on. The first tatoo I get will be down my ribs or a few to start off my arm. I hear the rib area is one of the most painful tatoo areas - but I have a high pain tolerance. ;)

YES THEY ID!!!!

All of the ethical, and responsible, and basically the ONES you WANT to go to with NOT break the law in anyway...

and if someone would, I would run from them doing ANY tattoo on me!!!

If it's a good ethical place, they will ID you (in some states you're required to sign stuff too while they make a copy of your ID to go with the signed paperwork)

If they don't, then they are sleazy and breaking the law.

I have to ask, what happens if your mom sees it? Why create more drama for yourself?

I suggest you wait until you are 18 and get it LEGALLY. I would not go to anyone who would tattoo a minor w/o parental consent, because if they are willing to break the law for the money, what else are they skimping on? Sterlization of needles and equipment? Yeah I don't wnat to come home wiht AIDS or HEPATITUS because I got a tattoo done at a shady place...and neither should you.

OK well I didn't see this before lol so I'm gonna add my two cents to the gyno one.

Doesn't matter to me. I've had both male and female gynos. and whether male or female there was always a second person present in the room.

Now it was a male doctor that delivered Hannah... which was cool because he was my FAVORITE OB out of all the ones in the practice that I had seen during my pregnancy. But I had to laugh because he eventually broke my water for me and what a compromising position we would have been in had someone walked in not knowing what he was doing LOL. I'm talking leg up on his arm He's got his knees basically right up against my butt (had to get some leverage lol) and he was pressing really hard trying to get it to break. HAHA I can only imagine what that must have looked like

But I'm not modest and doesn't bother me to have doctors poking around lol

Smexy - wait until you're 18.

On the male vs. female doc thing, my wife went to female gyno's for both of our children's births (practice was actually called "Women Care" and there were 5 doctors - all women). My urologist is a male. I'd probably be uncomfortable with a female in that role.

I have to reiterate... Any shop that doesn't ID is sketchy at the least and who knows what else they're not doing, don't walk... RUN away from there fast.

While it's not technically illegal (here at least) to tattoo a minor without consent, it's more of a universal agreement among artists and shops due to the fact that until 18 you're not an adult and therefore are under the protection of your legal guardian (parents, foster parents, etc.). So while the ink itself isn't illegal, this sets your guardian up to be able to charge the artist (and the manager/owner of the shop) for assault because they're technically injuring you (as beautiful that injury may be).

Bottom line, any artist that is willing to risk being slapped with an assault charge by the guardian of a minor they tattoo without consent is not an ethical one.

I missed out on the bulk of this thread apparently, but since it's been revived I can join in now :)

I only have one tattoo at the moment, but plans for at least two more. My tattoo isn't great, and needs some fix-up work done, but I love it none-the-less. It's a shooting star in the middle of my back.

It is a memorial to my mom.

Plans for other tattoos, I want this turned into a tattoo:

But without the bonnet, and with iconic Dorothy pigtails. Also, ruby slippers. I love the traditional silver shoes from the book, but ruby slippers have special meaning to me (plus they'll look 100x better as a tattoo!) Toto included, of course and a small portion of the yellow brick road. I'll be getting this one after the wedding, probably on my shoulder. I want it to have the watercolour type look to it that the illustration has, with very little black outline (especially in the dress).

I also have plans for a few quotes/poetry tattoos.

As for piercings... I don't currently have any metal in my skin. I have the basic earrings that I hardly ever wear anything in, and I had my belly button done when I was 19 but took it out about 4 years later because I felt no attachment to it whatsoever. I can still fit a regular earring in that hole, it has never fully closed up (it's been 2 years!) I guess I'm just not a piercing kind of gal.

To comment on a few things that are being discussed: If a tattoo shop doesn't ID you, RUN away. I know as a teenager you want what you want and you want it NOW (we've all been there!) but it won't kill you to wait, and it's so so much safer.

And my grandpa got his first tattoo at 76!
