If that's the case, why don't we just get our guns & go kill all the "pit bulls" because you don't think they deserve to live since they have dog aggression tendencies.
No one is saying euth all the pit bulls. I for one, don't get why only having one dog is such a problem. Like you said, these dogs love people, they want to be with you, why not just have one so you can truly have your dog as part of your family? Why the need to have multiple dogs chained up? What exactly are you and your dogs gaining from this lifestyle?

Yes, being responsible means recongnizing the breed for what it is, knowing that your dogs may fight at the drop of a hat. But you can be 'responsible' by only having one dog, not many. That right there eliminates the possiblity of a fight.

I am getting that someone is trying to access my computer with the use of a Trojan Horse virus. Until this stops, I will not be back.
Say what? I've never herd of anyone getting a virus from participating in this forum.

I can honestly say that no one here would ever do that!
Oh I know that. I wasn't worried. :)
I just found it strange that all of a sudden they claim to be getting a virus...and now can't participate anymore. A little convienient if you ask me.

I am a little confused at this whole thread to be quite honest with you. I haven't read through all the pages yet. But I thought they said at the beginning of the thread that they only chained their dogs once in a while? Like once or twice a week? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Also silverpaws, the comment about no one doing that was directed at them not you lol.

Phhhhhhhhhhhh, I gotta go read this whole **** thread to see what it is all about unless it was not actually that interesting and someone can sum it up for me.

Why do can't we judge someone elses ethics or culture or sports? If it is wrong and animals are tortured in the process the it is wrong period.

It is such BS that people hide behind the words culture and tradition...I find that to be a cop out.

In think there are moral absolutes and the abuse of animals is wrong in the USA, Mexico, China, Russia, Bangladesh, Norway, Gambia, South Africa....get my drift?!

PS... That isn't very open minded but a lot of things were allowed to happen by open minded people (Slavery, Holocaust, Rwandan Genocide)
Mainly, I was suggesting that on an international website, we can't assume or insist that everyone shares the same norms. But as others have already said more eloquently, I think that we in the US are too quick to judge the ethics of other peoples by our own standards, when we can't even begin to understand what a social practice means to people from a completely different place, background, language, etc. This isn't to defend animal cruelty. Surely you can understand the distinction. Or is the world really that black and white to you? Must be nice to be so smug.

And speaking of other cultures - dr2little, where exactly are livestock chained? That is such a horrible comment and it hurts me, because I know how much love is given to those dogs, and you all have continually insulted this good man. I guess you feel as though defending chained dogs (who don't need your defense, by the way) is more important than showing a little humanity.

There is no simple answer to the question you've raised about why not breed to eliminate dog aggression. First, that has already been done for the most part with pit bulls (hence, the AmStaff), although this wasn't purposeful, just the natural result of breeding for looks rather than performance. Somewhere in this process though, we ended up with the bullies, bandogs and other pit mixes, some of which have tendencies toward being unstable and human aggressive. Those are the dogs which have caused the public's pit bull prejudice and which are clogging the shelters, and it is truly horrific. Some people enjoy the drive and personality of the original gamebred APBT, and give them a good life, IMO. Many dogs of all breeds are bred today that cannot and do not fulfill their original purpose or spend 24/7 with their owners. The only answer to that is... no more dog breeding, period. And personally, I'm not willing to go there yet.

I didn't get that impression, but maybe I missed something in this mass of 20+ pages. lol

I think someone did mention rotating their dogs so one was in the house while another was outside and of course that's better than leaving them out all the time. Still, I got the impression that have some yards full of chained dogs, too many to possibly rotate often enough.

Phhhhhhhhhhhh, I gotta go read this whole **** thread to see what it is all about unless it was not actually that interesting and someone can sum it up for me.
If we don't hear from you again we'll know where you are. Burried in endless pages of pit bull posts. :lol-sign: I'll be sure to send a search party if needed.;)

I'd try to recap it for you, but then I'D have to go back and re-read a few things...and one read through is enough. LOL

**the first dog that was pictured (Lil Bit) happened to be a house dog, along with Rufus (the brindle dog). They live in separate rooms. The other 6 live outside.

Whoa. I'm going to have to stay off this board for a while. I can barely type with all the mesages I am getting that someone is trying to access my computer with the use of a Trojan Horse virus. Until this stops, I will not be back. It seems I've really pissed off someone here. Good day.
Do an IP tracer or ping it, if your anti virus has that option.

I did want yall APBT owners opinion if my Verde had some type of Pit in her.

She hasnt been very coopperative for me to get a profile pic, if it isnt to dark tomorow night I should be able to get one outside.

blue - We get pits from all circumstances...breeder neglect, abandoned, roaming...from both Canada and the States. I'm pretty certain that your dog has Pit in there, especially in her ear carriage. I'd love to see more pics..
She's very pretty, I love her color.:)

Thanks Dr2. Ill try and get some pics of her outside tomorow if I have enough light so I can get a profile shot. She is a sweet dog, even after one of the boys bit her her first hour here, now she at least knows how BD likes to roughhouse.

I was thinking she had similar markings to the first dog in Gamedogs video.

Wow....I'm shocked...really. Some of the people on this board really aren't very accepting of different opinions. Some people have been great. Basically the "pit people" have been grilled about every litte piece of info they give about their dogs. I'd be defensive too, in all honestly, some people on here scare me. I didn't see anywhere in this thread where the new members said they supported dog fighting. Also, they are all very knowledgable about their breed and take a lot of pride in them. Gamedog shows his dogs and keeps them in wonderful shape. They are fed a high quality food and seem to be very loved. They are well socialized it seems which is evident from the pics of them with kids. They aren't cropped or docked. The only thing that anyone can really complain about is the chaining. Is it an ideal situation IMO? No, but I guess I'm a little more open minded b/c I can see where they are coming from. I can't condem someone just for that. I can't throw up my hands and call them horrible people just for that. From what I can see they are very responsible with their dogs. They don't allow them to get loose, they don't let them get into fights, they make sure they're well fed, exercised, and socialized. I can't imagine all the work they put into their dogs to achieve this. I don't know.....I'm probably going to get flamed for this but I needed to say something. Again, there are a lot of members here who have been great....it's just a couple that scare me. Sorry if this offends anyone....I just needed to get it off my chest. I just wish we could all play nice together! God, I'm such a middle child! LOL!

Oh, and I also wanted to share the forum where I learned a lot about pit bulls.

www.pitbullforum.com

It's mostly people with rescues or pet pitbulls, but there are also members who participate in weight pull and other legal doggie sports. Some day I hope to rescue a pit bull, but until I get out of college and my apartment, I'll stick to trying to learn all I can about them. Just thought I'd share.

I realy wish Love4Pits was still active here, she had I believe 4 Pits living in her house as house dogs and rotated her working sled dogs in on a regular basis and her retired racers either became her house dogs or somebodys pet worthy of her retired dogs.

Her Babe.

I saved that pic because it makes me smile.
