The first episode of Outlander is out!! They released it online for an early preview, so people can decide to subscribe to Starz if they like it.

If anyone is interested in checking it out, its available here http://www.starz.com/originals/outlander (only works from USA though).

I have possibly never been so excited for a book adaptation! The first episode definitely starts out slowly, as does the book, but it's all working up to epic goodnes.
I will have to check out.

I just watched the first ep of The Knick, a Cinemax show, and it seems REALLY good.

Well I'd watch the Outlander premiere but frankly I don't see the point as I won't see the others for a while. And I don't do torrents, so...

Yeah, do it!

I'm mostly loving Outlander these days, but I also watched the first season of Orphan Black a couple of weeks ago and quite enjoyed it, I haven't had a chance to watch the second season yet but I'm looking forward to it.

Fair enough, makes sense!

Rewatching Arrow and already finished Season 1 again in less than a week :D Yep, still good. Also - WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME ABOUT THE HILARITY THAT IS PARKS AND REC? I always tried to get into it but to no avail (plus I did not like The Office), and then I got into Season 2 and holy crow, it's wonderful. Funniest and best made comedy show ever, and I usually am very skeptical about comedies.

Tried to watch Breaking Bad, too (as did my sister on two separate occasions). Bleh. It's so flat and uninteresting and just doesn't grab my attention, yet everyone was crazy for it so I feel like I'm obligated to like it. Might try again in a few weeks...

Yes!!! Watch Season 2, I absolutely LOVE Orphan Black. The main actress's acting is just phenomenal and the show's just incredibly interesting. I'm usually not a fan of sci fi or ANYTHING involving cops, but I really enjoy the show.

I usually hate sitcoms, but I watched all the seasons of Parks and Rec in about two weeks. Loved it!
Yes, exactly! Every single "funny" show I've watched, and even those that I've found reasonably enjoyable, have ended up being a severe disappointment and eye roll inducing. But Parks and Rec is finished with Season 6 (second to last season) and in my opinion, still a strong and fantastic show with the perfect cast and hilarious characters. The humor is predictable, as it usually is with sitcoms, but it's FUNNY!! Something about the writing and delivery and cast.

Never thought I'd like it so much but I just love this show.

I got my friend sucked in, too, and he hates me because he has a ton of work to do before leaving for a 3 week vacation... and he can't get any of it done because of Pars and Rec :D

I had to watch it when someone at work told me I was basically Ron Swanson. I am still trying to decide if I am supposed to be offended!

Pfft, no way!! Ron Swanson is one of the best characters on the show, if not THE BEST. Love him, and I can totally relate to him LOL Sometimes, I hate people, too :p

Love parks and rec! Great show.
Yes! Sad they are ending it in Season 7 but I'm glad they're not dragging it on (don't know of a single good show that went to 8 or 9 seasons). Really love this show.

So I finished season 2 of LoK... and it was... um... really unsatisfying, actually. I mean, I enjoyed a lot of the episodes and was enjoying the finale for the most part until... what? That's... it? Erm.

Already four episodes into season 3, I'm sure I'll finish that this weekend.

Ahhhhhh season 3 finale!!!
I'm crying. So good.
Ahahaha! Yes that was my thoughts on both seasons as well. I loved season 3 and it made up for season 2. Though like the middle of season 2 had some good parts. I loved the avatar origin story.

I started watching Vikings, definitely enjoying it. I adore Lagertha's hair (I totally just had to go look her name up haha, I was about to say the main blonde girl). Determined to recreate it.

Trailer for American Horror Story - Freak Show is out and it looks good! Hope I'll like it, since I have very different opinions of each of the different seasons/stories.

Also, Arrow needs to come back soon please kthnx.

Trying to decide if I should start watching Downton Abbey, continue Hannibal, or start Utopia or Fargo. Hm, decisions. Kinda started watching episodes of The Tudors on Netflix because Natalie Dormer but it's nothing particularly interesting.

Finished the pilot of Outlander but realized that it's completely different from what I expected :p I thought it was gritty actiony stuff for some reason, but I realized I never actually read the synopsis. It could just be one of those things that I'd enjoy reading as a book over watching as a show.

Ahhh, yes!!! Really glad you're watching the show - I thought the first season was badass but second season was even better. Love Lagertha and her hair, I've seen some pretty cool recreations of it around the internet.

I need to watch parks & rec. My step-sis keeps telling me to, but she pretty much ONLY watches comedy, and I watch almost zero comedy shows lol... so I wasn't sure if I'd like it.

I'm pumped! I STILL haven't got around to watching season 3, waiting for it to be on netflix. I think I'll really like season 3 tho. I preferred season 1 to 2 personally. prob end up watching AHS season 4 before 3 just because I can... lol

I know you said you think BB is sort of dragging (which sort of stuns me, as you know, I literally can count like 30 people I got addicted, many of whom normally hate tv in general lol) but different tastes. If you don't mind a bit of a spoiler... I would urge you to watch Season 4 episode 'Crawl Space'. That was the clip I saw (I think I watched the last like 15 mins of ep) from my dad that got me to watch the show personally! I mean it gets REALLY really good. Obviously IMO and obviously i'm obsessed so I'm biased lol. Season 1, I guess could be considered slower for sure, but I still got hooked right away. Then if you STILL feel like you're just not into it, you're probably not going to be... haha. I don't give up, do I? :rofl1:

Yes. Watch it. Waaatch it. I think Netflix describes it as a "droll comedy", which is fairly accurate, but there is such a wide variety of characters and humor that it really is enjoyable in so many ways. And again, warning, Season 1 sucked for me and I just didn't really like it (or any of the characters). Once I started Season 2, I was hooked - and luckily Season 1 only lasts about 6 episodes.

If you don't enjoy comedy in general though, I can't quite guarantee you'll love it. Like I said, some of it can be really corny and the humor can get awfully predictable, but for me it's still consistently funny. I do enjoy comedy personally (though am very critical of it) so that could be why I like it. The characters are gold, though.

Me too!!! What a great show. Season 1 I LOVED, Season 2 I still have not finished because I just didn't enjoy it (my sister loved it), and Season 3 was very promising, overall great, but got weird in some parts. A variety of weird, and yeah, weird even for AHS. But overall still good. So looking forward to Season 4! Usually if it's an interesting idea I can really get behind it, and I think that's why I found Season 2 boring.

Haha, I don't mind that you don't give up! Totally appreciate it actually, because I still want to like this show. I LIKE being obsessed with shows so I'm actually really, really bummed that I'm not into it yet. That's why I've tried to watch it so many times, too. I might give it another try starting from Season 1 this week or the next, and if I'm still kind of "eh" I'll try Crawl Space.

I think the reason why I'm not really into it is because I don't really feel any interest in the characters. Usually what gets to me is 1) a fast start and instant intrigue or 2) attractive people. Couldn't find either in Season 1  But I'm determined not to be shallow so I'll keep trying!

Outlander does eventually get extremely gritty and there's lots of action too, but it is definitely character driven and it starts out moving very slowly because there is a lot of ground to cover and a lot of build up before everything really gets going. Episode 6 (next week) got rave reviews from critics and it will be a big turning point in the show as far as where things are headed. I'm loving it but of course I am already very invested in the characters (who are, in my opinion, being portrayed brilliantly). I tend to like books and shows for the characters, and these are some of my all-time favourites. At it's center is a very epic love story, but it is not a "romance". All sorts of crazy stuff goes down!

(ETA) Of course that being said not everyone is going to like the same things, obviously! So it might just not be up your alley. ALSO, the synopsis makes it sounds so completely awful, I've always hated the book synopsis as well, it makes it sound like cheesy fluffy romance. Blah.

Vikings hasn't gotten me completely hooked yet but it is entertaining for now. My biggest complaint so far is the very confusing way they are using english as both native tongues for the different people, and then randomly they have them speaking something else and it's subtitled, it seems oddly done to me!

Oh hey, that's good to hear. I just remember someone somewhere likening it to Game of Thrones meets historic romance or something, and while it was decided that it's not QUITE Game of Thrones-y, I figured there must have been some sense of grittiness and action to warrant that kind of initial comparison. Might have actually seen that discussion regarding Outlander here on Chaz. From the pilot it just seemed to be narration and sex, and then more narration, and more sex. Which, okay, is how a lot of people see Game of Thrones too but generally I like seeing more things happening.

Books for me, on the other hand, can have very little action and even dialogue as long as the writing is good and the characters likable. Even if I don't end up liking the show, I can see myself enjoying the book. Especially since you've said that you don't really agree with the synopsis, because I had the same thought when I first read it lol Still thought I'd give it the benefit of the doubt, so it's good to hear that it isn't just 100% fluff and mush.

I'll continue downloading the rest of the episodes and see how I feel about it. The acting is great and everything, I just wasn't sure what direction the story was going in.

That was how I felt the entire first season. It was obviously good and well made and the acting was fantastic and the characters badass... but things just didn't really get that interesting until Season 2. I really liked Season 2. And hah yeah, the language transitions are really weird. Still couldn't really get used to that, but I can forgive it!

Also! Did you get to finish Orphan Black?? :D

BAH! Don't. If you're not into it, you're not into it... but jumping 3 seasons ahead and getting major spoilers just to 'like a show' just doesn't seem worth it to me.

Of course that's coming from someone who knows what happens to the main character in the end because it was ALL OVER FB, and is still watching, but yeah... We finished season 4 yesterday. Hubby's away next week though so I don't know when we'll get to finish it.
