That's fine...but a lab is a retriever, so how can one be more "labish" and one more "retrieverish" when they are one and the same?
I think the poster was referring to their looks. The less fluffy puppies look more like labs, and the fluffy puppies look like golden retrievers.

Drives me nuts when goldens are called retrievers but other retrieving breeds are not retrievers. It's like saying, "Some of the puppies are cockerish, while the others look more spanielish."

So in retrospect the OP should have said, a bit labish and goldish....:D

To the OP,
What’s done is done, just make sure to find great homes for the pups. Do what ever you can to make sure they all get neutered and spayed. Also get your own dogs spayed ASAP.

I love looking at puppy pictures, but you know, the more aware I am about the over populated situation we have with dogs and how many get pts every year because of it I don’t see puppies in the same limelight as I used to. It’s sad really, it’s as though a bit of my innocence inside me has died. They are still cute, don’t get me wrong, nothing cutter then a puppy but I have a sense of doom or fear for the pups I see for what is to come to them in their often short little lives. Especially with puppies in such circumstances. Maybe it's because I see so many that looks the same as these little guys do in shelters.

I wonder, would my Chessies be more "labish" or "retrieverish", or would they just be "Chessieish"?

Ok another Typo Half have the hair type like Goldens and half have the short Labby hair. Also someone said somthing about cockerish NOPE! Loves Mom was a Lab her Dad was a pure bred Registered Goldern retriever. The Father is Half Golden Retriever/ Black labish dog. The only MIXY mix breed in there is the the Fathers Mom. The puppies all took the trait of Black but soem turned out like goldens and some like Labs. In Loves Mom Litter two looked Like Labs two loooked Like pure Goldens.

As Smkie said it is possible to have a silent heat.

I Will not let these puppies go to pounds. I am telling the new owners that if something should happen they will coem back to me.

ALSO I will not spay them they are 4 weeks old. I was told by a vet to wait till they are to there full growth or in females case till after there first heat. It casn cause growth problems.

Wow... you really don't read what people write do you? Leslie was NOT saying your lab-golden mixes were cockers... she was making a comparison to other things she has heard.

Also no one suggested you spay them at 4wks. Only that they should go to homes with a spay/neuter contract, so that people WILL be legally obligated to get the dogs spayed/neutered so more puppies like them won't be produced.

Read first, understand second... THEN jump to conclusions.

Depends who you ask poodlemommy!!

Bodhi was a mistake. Her mums owner is defiantely a responsible dog owner. She puts her dogs before herself. All her dogs are now spayed/neutered.

Accidents DO happen.

I did not mean all dogs should be spayed... but my vet had said, if you are def. going to spay it should be done before the first heat.

Both my dogs were spayed at 6 months, should i have waited longer?

There are rumors that actually spaying before maturity tends to make dogs grow bigger, as their hormons don't tell them when they should stop growing. Whether it's true or not I have no idea though. It's one of those endless debates...

Bottomline nobody here is going to buy one of your pups. I really hope you aren't selling them at four weeks old and that you are looking for future homes. You obviously know very little about breeding and I hope you get educated on the subject and get your dog spayed.

Females that have an inverted or juvenile vulva (more common in certain breeds) should wait until after the first heat to be spayed. The enlargement of the vulva can correct this particular problem when allowed to go thru a heat cycle. Therefore preventing problem infections thruout their life. And preventing need for future surgery if infections are a problem.

Other than that I believe it is reasonable to spay before the first heat.

I don't see why breeders are the only ones "worthy" enough to have intact animals.
why would anyone apart from a breeder need an intact male/female?, also i'm sure thts what all those ppl who had the accidental litters said before they found out WHY only breeders should have intact dogs.

OF coarse Im not selling them at 4 week are you nuts! for real you guys need to get over this. I do know a lot about breeding most likely more than you. Though none of you know me and you just keep judging me. I AM NOT SPAYING MY DOG! She had a silent heat. I am not Selling the puppies I came here to see if someone would adopt one. Not to have everyone on this board come and yell and debate about everything I say. I truly hope you all are happy You have turned my innocent post about finding puppies homes into a war and for that I may not find a home for them. I will no longer be replying here in this thread unless you want to adopt the puppies. OR better yet you can Pm me. TY why for all your input THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR OPINIONS. Just to let you know not everyone has to agree with you and you can not push your choices on me or anyone else.

You are 17. I doubt you know as much about breeding as RedeyreRottweiler, Grammy, or more than a few other people. But thank you for showing me all over again, why I don't want an unspayed female dog.

I haven't read all the posts, but I have just one questions you say this was an accident, so you didn't plan on your dog having pups, then why didn't you get her spayed or injected when you found out she was pregnant?

I highly doupt you know more than most people on this forum. If you knew more then you wouldnt have a intact female who isnt "worthy" to be bred.

You would also know that hormones from the reproductive organs have NOTHING to do with growing. You need to grow up and act your age.

ooOo Gallien Jacks has a good point..

Something you PROBABLY should have thought about... or at least your vet to tell you when you announced the litter was a mistake..

and NOT ONLY breeders have intact animals.

I'm not a Belgian breeder, yet have an intact male Belgian Tervuren. The reason; He is a SHOW DOG and can NOT be nuetered before achieving his CH title..
We ALSO have an intact female reason; SHE IS A SHOW DOG and is working on getting her CH title as well.
We also have another male - BUT he was NOT show quality so has been nuetered.
We have gone through one heat with our female already and have NO PROBLEMS seperating her until we were fully able to put them together again(ie. heat is over!!).

You will always be able to tell when your female is going into heat - silent or not...
There are physical changes in her "area" you can noticable see, not to mention that males are more interested in her..

If you had watched your dog closer this wouldn't be an issue.

Thanks, you sound like you are being very responsible, its a shame more owners are not like you
