afghans are ugly either way..as are borzois..and most other sighthound breeds..=P

in my humble opinion.

lol if someone thinks something is ugly thats their opinion, why the big deal?

im sure the dog is not literally a poor dog. but its a , wats it called , matter of speech , form of expression , idk wat the quote was..its too late here nd i need sleep.

btw...sighthounds are pretty in their own special way..not ugly..but not m cup of tea either.

I couldn't see the photos, but I agree with everyone who said the owners were probably raw novices. Otherwise, who would want to pay money to show up and have their dog dismissed perhaps being humiliated in the process? While some of us may have been lucky to start with good mentors, others are not and they have no idea what all goes into conditioning and preparing a dog for a show. But they did at least make the effort to try showing and that tells me there is a chance they may be willing to learn and may well have potential to go on to become responsible members of the dog community some day. But not if treated badly to the point that they will never come back or attempt to associate with the show community again. I think we as breeders need to approach these people when we can. Heck, I'm an experienced exhibitor and I'm pretty sure I would have a difficult time trying to groom an Afghan too since neither of my breeds require their specialized coat care, but I could definitely give tips on showing, conformation resources, what is involved with being a responsible breeder, and how to go about locating an experienced Afghan breeder who may be willing to mentor them in their breed specifically. The worst case is that these people may drop out and become BYB's anyway, but they almost certainly will if everyone they meet at shows seems disapproving or unapproachable.

I agree with Chinooks...someone obviously didn't know any better and not everyone is as lucky as to have a mentor to guide them through it.

That is what I was wondering. If the coat is not supposed to altered, surely they must have known.. When Galina was shaved for her surgical AI she was out of the show ring for 6 months to get her coat back...

It has not even been 6 months since the AI. You were posting about taking her to the stud dog in February.

Have you actually shown that dog or any dog in recent times? Is someone else showing her? Just wondering?

I like Cider's clip, I think it's really cute!

I certainly think that some dogs are ugly, though . . .
