I don't think anyone is offended.

However, you said 'poor' dog as if it was abused or neglected or in a bad situation or something because of a funky haircut and then allusions where made that clipping down a coated breed is in some way inherently wrong.
I see.

What I was trying to say in this thread wasen't that haircuts are animal cruelty or that that all haircuts means the animal is suffering

For what I was aiming is that if a person buys a show dog and they don't whant or can't keep it in the hairstyle like is required by the show rules then they can think on getting a breed that is easier to groom (and fits they personalty of course.) beacuase if the coat isn't they way is asked then it gets DQ even if is a good dog.

hmmm.. next time I post I will write things in a more specific way.

I was saying awful because
* the dog does not appear to be a puppy in puppy class as the coats grow slowly for youngsters
* a dog in breed without being shown in proper coat..
While borzois are seldom shaved, other breeds are shaved all the time.. ( as stated by ice..).. However- a show dog is shown in proper coat and its obvious the owners did not know that... Or the dog could have been dismissed for another reason ( such as lameness..) or not in the proper class..
Only difference from my " show borzois" and my " pets" is one simple thing.. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh given a bath before a show... Coats are the same all the time..

Ok, I'm sorry, but what planet is it that you hail from exactly? Aside from your post making very little sense, if any at all because I am not sure I can code it correctly to begin with, I wonder what makes you such a professional/expert on everything? I mean, really!

All the person needed was some more understanding as to how showing works and what condition the dog is expected to be in. Many people don't think show dogs are any different from their clipped down pet on the couch, someone was just stupid enough to groom all that hair.

You mean--- "To whom are you speaking, Buddy?" or possibly something like, "Buddy, who are you referring to?" Your comment is grammatically unclear.

I find it sad that you are calling people's dog's clips ugly honestly.

I have shaved down one of my cockers. Even maintaing partial coat can be a chore. I feel bad for the owner as it would appear they didn't know. Hopefully they got a non snarky education.

All of the poor dog in this thread is pretty sickening though. The dog looks healthy and happy. What is there to poor dog over? The fact that someone doesn't spend endless massive hours keeping that dog in full show coat right now?

Right.. poor poor dog.. Someone want to have a pity party for Cider? She must be the most fugly cocker ever since she can't grow show coat. She can't grow more than about 2" of coat. I guess I should be highly ashamed.
People have called her ugly for her clip? :( That's horrible. It's not the traditional cut, but I think she looks fantastic that way,

Functional but not show coat.. That is like showing a maltese in a clipped coat- thats the way the breed shows...LIke with poodles- they only accept certain cuts in the coat to show.. A owner could do whatever but to show- if has to be in one of the coat trims..

Well, it's very lucky that a) Cider is not a show dog and b) Cider is not currently showing, even if she was a show dog.

I was simply saying I think it's horrible people have told Mafia her dog is ugly because of her clip. I'm not fond of some clips and think they make otherwise adorable dogs look like gremlins, but I would NEVER say that to their owners.. actually I would never say it unless it just popped out.

Point.. searching for a point.. hmm still can't find one amongst the usual drivel. There's a shocker. My dog being functional is like a maltese in clipped coat. Right. Can you possibly organize your thoughts before you post?

K thanks.

I had a feeling this thread would turn into some kind of debate/argument. lol. I stated my opinion regardless.

I get that some people are a bit touchy about a dog being called ugly. In this case, the dog is not ugly. I wouldn't really call the coat "ugly" either. I was taken back because I know what a afghan coat is capable of, and I see it hacked off. This is in a SHOW, right? Now if it were someones pet dog, not for showing, then I could see a person shaving down a full coat to personal preference. That wasn't the case.

Yeah, the person might not have known. If he knew, I doubt he would show up with its coat in the condition it was. Everyone makes mistakes. Its just a learning lesson.

People might not agree with my opinion, but thats how I feel anyway.

As far as "poor dog". It was not intended to be personal. No, a dog could care less what its coat looks like. Same for poodles who are dyed blue or pink. You might think it looks ridiculous, but "poor dog" would be a poor choice of words really... unfitting for the situation. I will say that. Its not abuse or anything.

I forget how you need to carefully choose your words here, otherwise they'll be picked apart and scrutinized, even if its just an opinion. yeah...

I also do not agree with telling an owner that his/her dog is ugly. Anyone with any kind of manners would never do something like that. Very rude.

It's just a haircut. Hair grows. I actually find it to be rather cute the way it is. It's nor correct but it's not depressing.
